2. INTRODUCCIN

Dado el posicionamiento cultural, cientfico y econmico que diversas comunidades


angloparlantes han tenido en los ltimos cinco siglos y, especialmente, durante el
pasado y lo que ha corrido del presente, la lengua inglesa se ha convertido en un
vehculo de comunicacin global, transnacional y transcultural. Desde esta
perspectiva, constituye una necesidad para cualquier persona que se desempee
como estudiante o trabajador de cualquier rea del conocimiento o del sector
productivo, ser competente en la comunicacin que se da a travs de esta lengua.
En el caso particular del SENA, se cuenta con polticas enfocadas a la masificacin del
ingls como parte de la competencia comunicativa, no slo de aprendices e
instructores, sino tambin de todos los colombianos. De esta manera, a partir de un

programa de formacin complementara enfocado al nivel A1- segn el MCE, se


espera dar inicio a un proceso que apoyar la insercin laboral y acadmica tanto
local como global de un amplio rango de poblacin dentro y fuera de la institucin.

Dear diary, I have just come back from my trip to Santa Marta and
have so many things to write. Maybe, I should start from the
beginning. Three friends from college, Susan, Elizabeth and Nick,
travelled with me. At first we planned to travel by plane but when
we wanted to make our reservations, there was nothing available
for us! So, we had to travel by bus. I know, it is much longer than
in plane but at the end I simply loved the beautiful variety of
landscapes you can see all the way and the buses that were very
comfortable, with air conditioner, great movies and nice food.
Besides, they were so fast that it took us less time than expected.

After our fourteen-hour trip, we finally arrived in Rodadero and
stayed in a luxurious hotel. The truth is that we didnt plan to stay
in that hotel either, but the other hotels in the area were all full so
we didnt have any other option. Anyway, I had great expectations
about being in a five-star hotel for the first time in my life!
Unfortunately, the hotel was so crowded that every time we called
room service, they wouldnt answer! It was so disappointing.
The only thing I liked from the place was the wonderful view of the
beach from our room. It was so relaxing and almost spiritual. In
summary, I didnt enjoy the hotel that much but I did enjoy the
beach a lot. By the way, you had to see the bellboy trying to lift
Susans, Elizabeths and my own luggage to the room. I think he
broke his back. Each of us carried more than 25 kilos, I guess they
were heavy because of all the clothes we bought for this trip last
week, poor guy!

And they got heavier when we returned with all the clothes and
souvenirs we bought there. How can a woman resist the
temptation to buy shoes? But that was not the only heavy thing!
We ate so much during our trip that I think I won some pounds.
The local cuisine was mainly prepared with seafood and it was just
OK, but the Italian restaurant we went to the first night we were
there, My Lord! It is probably the most delicious pasta Ive ever
eaten!

Definitely, Rodadero offered me a very exciting experience, with so
many activities that made my trip the best of the times. Now that I
collect all these memories, I just want to wait for next vacation to
