Interview with Ms Dayang Aliaa Zawani.

Me : Good morning. I’m Dayang Ayuni Diyana. I wanted to ask a

few questions about your experience in doing the garbage
enzyme.

Aliaa : Morning. I’ve been doing the garbage enzyme since 3

years ago. My friend introduced me and inspired me to make
the garbage enzymes.

Me : Oh, I see. What are the importance of garbage enzyme ?

Aliaa : Garbage enzyme has a lot of benefits. We can reduce

the global warming and save the earth.

Me : What is the use of garbage enzyme ?

Aliaa : Garbage enzymes can be used as floor cleaner,

shampoo and many of them. They’re quite useful.

Me : Great. I might need to know the ingredients in process of

making the garbage enzyme ?

Aliaa : Oh, it’s easy. All you need is some brown sugar or any
raw unprocessed sugar. But remember, never use white sugar.
Then, you need to have some vegetables or fruit dregs.
Leftover cooked food from meals is usable, but rinse off any
gravy from them before using and never use any kind of meat.
Same goes to fruits, any fruit skins can be taken from any fruit
except durians. Lastly, you need water and a plastic bottle or a
plastic container.

Me : How about the making of garbage enzyme ? Can you tell

me the steps on doing the garbage enzyme while you
demonstrate it ?

Aliaa : Yeah, sure. Firstly, dilute the sugar in water in the plastic
container. Then, add in the fruit or vegetables dregs. Mix well in
the plastic container. If you use a plastic bottle, tighten the cap.
Next, keep in a cool dry place at room temperature.
Me : Wow ! Simple and easy as ABC ! Any other do’s and don’ts
in process of making the garbage enzyme ?

Aliaa : Yes , it is simple. You might have to release the gases

formed once a day for the first month. Make sure it is re-capped
tightly each time after the gas release. For the second and the
third months, only release the gases if necessary.

Me : Oh, I see. My friends told me there will be some worms in

the garbage enzyme after a few days. Is that true ? If it is true
then what should I do ?

Aliaa : Yes, it is true. If worms appear in your enzyme solution,

don’t panic. Add in a handful of sugar, mix well and cap the
bottle tightly. They will disappear overnight.

Me : Oh, really ? Okay then. Well, thanks for the information.

This could help me with my school project. Nice seeing you.
Goodbye !

Aliaa : You’re welcome. I hope your project turns well. Nice to

see you too, goodbye !

Interview about Garbage Enzyme

With Madam Liew Nyuk Fah

We conducted an interview with Madam Chang’s mother, Madam Liew Nyuk Fah on
the 23th of January 2010. We asked her some questions about garbage
enzyme. She has been making garbage enzyme for more than a year.

Christal : Hello, Mrs. Liew. First of all, we would like to thank you for spending

your evening with us.

Mrs. Liew : It is my pleasure to be here with you all.

Amily : Let’s start our interview with our first question. What inspired you to
make this garbage enzyme?

Mrs. Liew : I am interested in doing this because I like to experience new things
since my friends encouraged me to make it.

Amily : How long have you been doing this?

Mrs. Liew : I have been doing this for more than one year.

Christal : Where did you learn to do the enzymes from?

Mrs. Liew : My friends were the ones who taught me how to make it since they
are very keen in making garbage enzyme.

Christal : Our next question is why do you make this garbage enzyme?

Mrs. Liew : I make this garbage enzyme to save the environment. Besides, I like
to do it.

Amily : What is the importance of the enzymes to you?

Mrs. Liew : It can be used as cleaners for mopping the floor, cleaning the window
pane and even as a multipurpose detergent. It can also be used as
shampoo, fertilizer and for washing vegetables.

Amily : How long is the fermentation process of the enzymes?

Mrs. Liew : The process takes about three months. However, the longer you leave it
the better the enzyme.

Christal : What are the ingredients needed to make this garbage enzyme?

Mrs. Liew : You need 5 kg of fruits skins, 1kg of brown sugar and 6 bottles of 1.5l
each.

Christal : What is the difference between the enzymes that you make and the

normal cleaners sold in stores?

Mrs. Liew : It is safer, cleaner and not oily. It also has no side effects.

Amily : Has this enzymes affected your life? Does it help to save more money?

Mrs. Liew : Yes, especially in saving my budget in buying cleaners. My life is

easier and I started to live a better and healthier lifestyle. I can also
contribute something in reducing global warming and make our Mother
Earth greener.

Christal : I guess that’s all we need and we’re running out of time. By the way,
we would like to thank you again for spending your time with us.

INTERVIEW
Alexandra : Good afternoon, teacher.

Miss Hasimah : Good afternoon. How may I help you?

Alexandra : I would like to ask some questions about garbage

enzyme.

Miss Hasimah : Okay. What would you like to know?

Alexandra : Firstly, what are the ingredients needed to make

garbage enzyme?

Miss Hasimah : You will need fresh kitchen waste, for example,
fruit peels or vegetable
waste, brown sugar and water.

Alexandra: What is the ratio ?

Miss Hasimah : You will need 1 part brown sugar, 3 parts

kitchen waste and 10 parts
water.

Alexandra : Okay. What about the procedure ?

Miss Hasimah : It’s very easy. Just mix the kitchen waste, brown
sugar and water in an
airtight plastic container. Then, label it with the
date.

Alexandra : How long does it take to make this enzyme ?

Miss Hasimah : About 3 months.

Alexandra : What must be done during this time ?

Miss Hasimah : You must stir the ingredients regularly to avoid

the waste from floating
at the surface of the water.
