Required Daily Materials:


2 composition books (100 pages) to be used as interactive notebooks with organized
material for review
(One will be for the Fall semester, and one will be for the Spring semester.)
1 three-pronged folders for the student and teacher to keep performance tasks
Pencils! Pencils! Pencils! (It is difficult to do math without a pencil.)
Students will be issued a math workbook.
Materials Needed But Not Used Daily: Highlighter and color pencils (at least red, yellow,
and green)
Course Overview:
In Georgias Math classes, students must be proficient in eight standards for math practice.

Course Content:
UNIT 1: Transformations, Congruence and Similarity
- Understand congruence and similarity using physical models, transparencies, or geometry
software.
UNIT 2: Exponents
- Work with radicals and integer exponents.
- Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
- Know that there are numbers that are not rational, and approximate them by rational numbers.
UNIT 3: Geometric Applications of Exponents
- Understand and apply the Pythagorean Theorem.
- Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres.
- Work with radicals and integer exponents.
UNIT 4: Functions
- Define, evaluate, and compare functions
UNIT 5: Linear Functions
- Understand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations.
- Define, evaluate, and compare functions.
UNIT 6: Linear Models and Tables
- Use functions to model relationships between quantities.
- Investigate patterns of association in bivariate data.
UNIT 7: Solving Systems of Equations
- Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
UNIT 8: Show What We Know

Grading Policy:
LATE POLICY: 5% deducted for each day past the due date up to a deduction of 40% off.
MAKE-UP POLICY: It is the responsibility of the student to ask the teacher for missed
assignments and to schedule times to take missed quizzes and tests.

Classroom Procedures
1. ENTER QUIETLY: (Never enter a room without a teacher in it!)
- Sit at your desk.
- Update your agenda with the current agenda notes on the whiteboard.
(Parents, please check and sign agendas each week!)
- Pull out your interactive notebook.
- Begin the Do Now activity.
2. Raise your hand to speak to the teacher, and wait to be called on.
- Talking while the teacher (or another student who has permission) is talking is
showing disrespect.
3. Watch and listen during each lesson, and wait to ask questions until the
designated time.
- You WILL be called on during class, and small Pop Quizzes will be given
periodically.
4. Stay on task! Work on each in-class assignment diligently!
5. When in groups, each student is expected to participate fully.
6. Stay in your seat throughout the entire class period unless given permission.
- Do not get up to sharpen your pencil or throw trash away.
- A teacher will periodically pick up trash throughout class.

7. Multiple missing assignments may result in staying after school to make up work
after contacting guardians.
8. Dismissal Procedure:
- Before being dismissed, the room must be clean.
- Each student will get up when his/her name, group, or row is called.
- In the hallway: Stay in line (2nd tile from the wall), and do not talk.
