In the current world business system a good management team is
needed for every organization for their maximization. From the
management team there is a person who led the team is also a
manager whose main job is to operate the business properly and
maximize the profit or market share of the business/organization. A
manager always plays a vital role for an organization where his single
effective decision can help to reach his organization into their goals
and also his single ineffective decision can slide the organization from
its track. A manager mainly tries to allocate the resources of the
business and use it efficiently, separate or break down employees
work, motivate the employees and also leading from the front for
reaching the organization goals and fulfill the organization mission and
vision.
So, as a student of BBA we need to know about who is a manager? ,
what is the work of a manager? , what kind of skill he need to do
his/her job? , what are his/her roles in an organization? And also for my
Course-Project of MGT-210 course we need to know about the
fundamentals of a managers job. So, as a student of this course, and
the partial fulfillment of the course requirement we are assigned to

Objectives of this report could be two types:
Primary Objectives:

upon a Manager and make a report over his/her job description which
cover a partial part of the course. And also for gather knowledge about

his task and manage his employees.

description, about southeast Bank, its Product/service, organizational
structure, its historical background and other general information. So,
to make this report I used both primary and secondary Data:Primary Data Sources: Interview with the manager of Southeast Bank sat masjid road
Branch.
Some official documents that the manager provide us.
Secondary Data Sources: Annual report of Southeast Bank.
Southeast Bank official website:http://www.southeastbank.com.php

Bangladesh Bank and from other websites.

Limitations:

To make this report we face many limitations including inadequate and

lack of availability of required data. Those limitations are: One of the main limitations are when we make this report we
cannot have the opportunity to make a survey upon the
employee of southeast Bank because the branch was so busy
with their general work.
Time period is one of the other limitations to gather information,
which is only 1 month.
The manager cannot give us adequate time to have a bigger
experience because he is a busy person.
Lack of experience we face when we make this report because
we are only the student of 3rd Semester.
Information from secondary sources is not clear and precise
always so we need to work hard on this matter.
We think this kind of report need some practical work with the
manager but without internship we think that is not possible for
every student but it could be important in some reason.
With all limitations we tried our level best to make this report
successful. So, earnest request to consider those limitations while
justifying our report.

Porters 5 Forces for Industry Analysis

Michael Porters Introduced Five Force Model To Analyze an Industry. It
mainly used to determine long term profitability and a probable
possibility of the industrys attractiveness to enter or not. So if all the
forces are high then it is easily meant that the industry is risky to enter
whereas if majority or important forces are comparatively low then a
company can enter this industry with minimum risk. As far we know we
work on banking industry so below here we analyze porters Five
Factors Based on banking industry.

Threat of New Entrant:

Capital requirement for a new banking company entrance in
Bangladeshi Banking industry is 400 Corer BDT which is required
as Minimum Paid up Capital for a bank by the rule of Bank
Company Act 1991. So it is relatively High Requirement than
other industries.

As we know customer switching cost is relatively high in banking

industries so it is comparatively tough for new banking
companies to get customers who are already involved in their
rivals services.
Now Govt. enforced a rule for new banking companies is that
every Bank Should Set their Banking Branches 75% On Rural &
Semi-Urban Areas And 25% On Urban Areas. So it is a challenge
for them.
In Bangladesh If a Bank Company Want to introduce them as a
new bank there is a big Government & legal barriers on
Licensing.
As a new Bank they could face Image Crisis because there is
already a big number of bank are established in Bangladesh
As a new bank they also have lack Of Confidence And
Experience.
In Past there is a rule that every bank need to have five year
experience to get the permission to sold Govt. Issued Bonds and
other services But Now the rules are eliminated and New Banking
Companies Can Issue or Give Govt. Issued Services.

=>So after the analysis of the Threat of new Entrant we can tell

Threat of new Bank Is Comparatively Low For Established Banking

Companies.
Threat Of Substitute Products:
For Banking Services their Probable Substitute products are Person to Person Loan & Deposit & Hundi
Investing on Co-operative Firms
But Important is that Now this kind of threat is Decreasing day by day
Because of some Steps: Now, Government of Bangladesh Impress Every Bank to
Introduce a new Banking system for Farmers And Poors Which is
they get the opportunity to open a bank Account with only 10
Taka. For this step now more people are give up Person to
person loan & Deposit and use banking services within their
limits.
From the Betrayal of MLM businesses like Destiny 2000 ltd.
Now People think Invest in bank is safer then Investing on Cooperative Firms.

=>So Threat of Substitute Products is low.

Rivalry Between Existing Competitors:
There Are 4 types Generation Bank in Bangladesh. So Every
Bank has a rivalry between their same generations Bank.
Examples could be Southeast Bank ltd. which is a second
generation bank so they try to differentiate them with other
second generation bank which could be Prime Bank Ltd.
There is a lot of Same Size Bank in Bangladesh so the
competition between them is relatively high.
Maximum Bank is Following Same Strategies and for this there is
less product differentiation and Price Competition.
But Maximum Bank Has R&D Department of their own so they
always try to make effort on product differentiation.
But there is a thing on which every bank differentiated them
which is their Marketing Plan and Campaigns.
The Barriers to exit the industry are high.

=>After analyzing this force we can see there is comparatively High

Rivalry in the Industry.

Supplier Power:
The main Suppliers of Banks are: Peoples who deposit their money in Bank Both in Short-term and
for Fixed time period.
Mortgages Loans
Financial Institutions [from other industry like-Leasing
Companies, Pension Funds] who give loan or invest money in
bank.
Important thing is that their bargaining power is relatively Medium
Because: In Traditional Bank depositing system the Rate is fixed always so
there is a little bit chance of negotiations.
But, in some Cases like Mortgages loan there is certain chance to
Bargaining.
For Financial Institutions cases we all know this kind of
investment is relatively in large amount So For this kind of cases

Bargaining Power is comparatively high than other cases.

=>After analyzing we see there is a mixed power of suppliers to

bargaining. So, we conclude this with there is a Medium Power of

suppliers to bargaining.
Buyer/Customer Power:
The main buyers or Customers Are: Lenders[Who take loan/credit from business]
Account Holders[who open a account in the bank to get the
services of the bank]
Others [Bond Buyers, Fund Transfer etc.]
But important thing is customer bargaining power is relatively less in
Bank because: For Traditional Loan/credit the rate is always fixed.
For other banking Service the service Charge are always fixed by
the bank so there is a little negotiations chance.
We all Know that customer Switching Costs are relatively high in
banking sector so it may Decrease their bargaining power.

=> So after analyzing we can see there is comparatively Low

Bargaining Power of Customers.

BCG Matrix:
It is a tool that guides
resources allocation decision on the basis of market share and growth
rate of Strategic Business Unit or Product. This Matrix is first introduced

Telecash:
Telecash is a new invention of money transaction method with cellular
phones. Its growth is rapidly increasing day by day but main problem is
that SEBL Introduced this service in very late in the market. BKASH and
DBBL Already captured the market of Mobile Cash system they already
invest a higher amount of money in research and development

whereas SEBLs Telecash isnt give same effort on Telecash. So

Telecash market share is remaining Low. If SEBL Want to Increase its
market shares they should invest a lot in it.
