PACT (Professional And Collaborative Time) at LINCOLN

Elementary
Charge:
We will use PACT to work within various Learning Communities to grow professionally, and to
collaborate together to enhance our planning, teaching and assessment with a focus on student
learning. PACT is not intended for departmental or team housekeeping or for individual teacher
planning.

Schedule:
Grade Level Planning weekly double period time (at least one period) and most Thursdays from 2:45 to
4:00. See schedule for focuses.

Suggestions of collaborative tasks:

1.Curriculum Development Updating, creating, evaluating, and refining


*Units in Atlas Rubicon (enduring understandings, essential questions, assessments,
standards) *math session with Math enrichment teacher (1-5)
*The quality of assessment tasks & rubrics
*Global Citizen Integration practices
*Project Based Learning practices
*Technology integration within your classroom
*Service Learning practices

2.Data

Analysis - looking at student work and analyzing data (assessments) to


improve student learning (e.g., MAP scores, DRA/Running Record results,
classroom conference notes, student writing samples, Math-Reading-Science
Test scores/performance tasks - differentiation needs/RTI practices etc.)
3. Reflection on Professional Practice(s): Reflecting upon Professional
Development Plan (Goals) & current best practices with colleagues.

4. Cross Disciplinary Planning: Planning for integration of units within


classroom content (Reading, writing, math, science, social studies, values) and
with technology, art, music, PE, & Spanish with out of classroom teachers (must
happen once a semester)*

Roles:
Administrators Role:
Facilitate consistent time slots for these professional collaborative
encounters to take place
Ensure facultys compliance with the timeframe and the goals set
Suggest possible topics to be addressed by the teams at the
meetings
Get actively involved in these meetings as time allows.
Department Coordinators and Grade Level Leaders Role:
Encourage efficient use of the time allotted that leads to the
accomplishment of the goals set
Take a leading role in facilitating professional discussions that
revolve around student learning
Teachers Role:
Attend meetings promptly
Participate actively during meetings
Collaborate with colleagues and department coordinators to
accomplish the main objectives set for the meetings
