GOAL:
The purpose of Social Studies in Cobb County Schools is to help students develop the
ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a
society which is diverse, democratic and globally interdependent.
Please note: This pacing guide is subject to change in order to accommodate class
needs.
GRADING POLICY:
Summative Assessments: Unit Tests, Essays, Projects 25%

LATE WORK / MAKE-UP WORK: Students are required to turn assignments in on time.
Late assignments will receive PARTIAL credit - Students cannot earn a grade
greater than 80% for late assignments.
Absences:
o Students are responsible for completing all missed assignments upon return
from absences. It is each students responsibility to retrieve missed
assignments.
o Students are given one calendar day for each day absent to turn in work.
o Each Social Studies class will have a designated location where students
can pick up make-up work.
CLASSROOM POLICIES:
1. Students are expected to come to class with the required materials.
2. Daily classroom participation is expected.
Social Studies extra help sessions will be held Fridays morning from 8:15 8:45
beginning September 8, 2016. A schedule will be listed on teachers blogs for specific
locations.
