The course will be registered for you if you have been successful in your application.
If you do not wish to read the course, you must de-register it during the Add/Drop
period. Otherwise, we will take it that you are still reading the course and will grade
you at the end of the semester.
Add/Drop period
Submission of Appeals
Outcome of Appeals
by Friday, 24 Aug 2012
A student who is still registered for a course after the add/drop period but did not subsequently sit for the
examination will be deemed to have read and failed the course. F will appear on his official transcript.
1. You will be scheduled to access the registration system and register for your courses based on your
Registration Study Year. The Registration Study Year is your study year in S1 AY 2012-13 and which is
determined by the following:
AUs earned to date (after release of S2 AY2011-12 examination results) minimum AUs required to be
promoted to the next study year
For details on the classification of students by study year, please refer to:
http://www.ntu.edu.sg/Services/Academic/undergraduates/Pages/AcademicUnitSystem(AUS).aspx
2. You MUST check for your Personalised Date and Time for Registration through StudentLink from 18
June 2012 onwards.
*Important: We wish to remind students that they can only register for their courses on the specific date and
time assigned to them. The general schedule of registration by programme and registration
study year is shown in Annex A. Please do not assume your registration study year based on
your admission year. Students in the same admission year may not necessarily have the same
Registration Study Year. This is because students who are faster and have earned more AU
could be promoted earlier. Likewise, there could be students who lag behind their cohort.
3. For students whose applications for change of programme have been approved, an advisory note on course
registration will be stated in the approval letter.
4. The same number of vacancies is allotted to each group for programmes that are split into 2 groups by alpha
order of the students names.
5. Failed students refer to students who have not cleared all their Core courses/GER Core courses/Major
Prescribed Electives. GERPE/UE courses are excluded. Students who missed their examinations including
those on MC or approved leave will also register with the Failed group of students. This is only applicable for
programmes with separate schedule for Failed group of students.
6. Students are to register their Core and GER Core courses and major prescribed electives, and place their
GERPE and/or UE on waitlist during the timeslots indicated, unless otherwise stated.
7. For GERPE/UE, students may place 5 choices each for GERPE and UE on waitlist. They may access STARS
from 5.00 p.m. 10.00 p.m. daily from the day of their registration till Friday, 13 July 2012, if they wish to add
or drop their choices of GERPE and/or UE that they have placed on waitlist.
8. In order to increase their success rate in the allocation of GERPE and/or UE, students are advised to:
Consider GERPE/UE with few students on waitlist
Place at least 3 choices on waitlist for each category (STARS will prompt you if you have placed less than
3 choices.)
9. All students (except for ADM 1, ACC, BUS and ACBS students) can overload for courses on their scheduled
day of registration between 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm.
Annex A
All students (except for ADM 1, ACC, BUS and ACBS students) can overload for courses on
their scheduled day of registration between 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm.
