Indication for Use :

The MS9-5s (MS9-3s) is an automatic hematology analyzer used to quantify formed elements
(erythrocytes, leukocytes, thrombocytes) in blood and perform a three-part (MS9-3s) or a five-part
(MS9-5s) leukocyte differential cell count (3 PART : Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Granulocytes / 5
PART : Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Neutrophiles, Eosinophiles, Basophiles).

THE INSTRUMENT
The instrument is packed in the box
with two plastic pockets and one
accessories box which includes CDROMs, reagent tubings, a power
cord, blood tube adaptors and two
keys.
Take off with the hands the
protection plastic film which covers
the instrument. Never use a

knife at this stage.

O A large polychrome back-lighted SVGA

A whole blood tube holder which is also the
analysis starting switch place,
A compact alphanumeric keyboard.

A space for the whole blood sampling needle,

INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
ADVICE
Environment
Choose a suitable place to install the MS9-5s
(MS9-3s):
Put it on a flat and solid surface to ensure a
correct ventilation of the MS9-5s (MS9-3s).
Plan a location on the left for the reagents
pack (MS-Pack or Batch).
Eo-Diff is only for MS9-5s.
Plan at least 20 cm of free space on the right
for the opening of the DVD-R/RW recorder.
Select an environment free of dust.
Favor a working environment at nearly 2025C. Do not install the instrument and the
reagents beside a window exposed to the sun
or near a radiator for example.

Plan an earthed line voltage connection. A
good earthing is required for a correct use of
the MS9-5s or MS9-3s.

IMPORTANT
It is VERY DANGEROUS
for the MS9-5s or MS9-3s
electronic
parts,
the
analysis results and the
safety of the operator to
connect the MS9-5s or
MS9-3s Analyzer on a
main power supply which
does not have any ground
(Earth).
The
Phases,
Neutral and Ground (3rd
connector on the plug)
need to be really supplied
from a normalized plug
certified by a professional
installer. Not only for the
security of the operator, the
need and quality of the
ground value gives also
the MS9-5s or MS9-3s
analyzers the zero voltage
reference calibration used
for hematology analysis.

Warranty could be applied
in case of a MS9- 5s or
MS9-3s
not
properly
connected to a normalized
ground and a safe electric

3s) installation is to connect cables
as follows:

Respect the right DIN plug
position when connecting.
Connection of the mouse.

INTERNAL PREPARATION
Some internal preparation must be done
before taking any further steps:
O Put one of the keys from the accessories box in
the lock on the right side of the MS9-5s
(MS9-3s).
Open the upper front cover by turning the key
counterclockwise.
Unscrew the plastic caps of the reagent fittings
(on the bottom left front part of the MS9-5s
or MS9-3s) in a counterclockwise direction
and take them off.
Store the caps in a safe place for a further
use.
Take off the 4 transportation scotch tape pieces
(arrows on the picture) inside the instrument.

REAGENT TUBINGS
LABORATOIRES
The reagent tubings are used to link the

reagent pack to the MS9-5s (MS9-3s). They
are provided in a plastic pocket () which
contains :
1 kit of 6 (5 for MS9-3s) tubings equipped

with caps and flexible tubings which
allow the MS-Pack to be plugged to
the MS9.
A small plastic pocket labeled "Batch

1000" with:
MS9-5s: Two additional caps (1
orange and 1 blue ) with flexible
tubings to adapt the reagent tubings
to a MS9-5s Batch.
MS9-3s: One additional cap (1 blue
) with flexible tubing to adapt the
reagent tubing to a MS9-3s Batch.
Each cap has a flexible tubing whose
length fits the corresponding reagent bottle.
The use of a MS-Pack with wrong reagent tubings
could generate fluidic errors.

REAGENT
TUBINGS
Installation
The reagent tubings must be connected as
follows:
O Make sure that the protective caps of the
Luer locks of the MS9-5s (MS9-3s) have
been removed (take them off if
necessary).
Install by screwing in a clockwise direction
each tubing on the Luer locks according
to its corresponding color.
Check the reagent tubings color
positions from the front side to the back
side as follows:

Notes :

Lyse Eo-Diff is only for MS9-5s.

Each cap is equipped with a flexible

order to avoid any contamination.
REAGENT TUBINGS MS95s(-3s) Batch adaptation

The reagent tubings kit allows the connection of
a reagent pack to the MS9-5s (MS9-3s). There
are two reagents packagings which have
different size: the MS-Pack and the MS9-5s
Batch (MS9-3s Batch).
- big transparent caps 4 MS9-5s or

MS9-3s Batch.
Notes :
The Transflux cap (blue) and the Lyse EoDiff cap (orange)(MS9-5s) must be adapted
according to the packaging. Their size indicates
to which type they correspond:
- small caps
4 MS-Pack,
Each cap is equipped with a flexible tubing

that will soak into the reagent. The flexible
tubings must therefore be laid on a clean
surface as long as they are not in their
respective bottles in order to avoid any
contamination.
When replacing a MS-Pack with a MS9-5s

Batch, proceed as follows:
(For MS9-3s Batch, skip steps 1 and 2)
O Unscrew the Lyse Eo-Diff cap from the Lyse Eo-Diff tubing (orange).
Extract the big transparent cap with an orange ring from the pocket labeled 'Batch 1000' (in the
tubing kit pocket) and screw it on the Lyse Eo-Diff tubing.
Repeat stages 1 to 2 with the Transflux cap (blue).
With a dry piece of non-fluffy cloth clean the flexible tubings of both removed caps, then put them
in the pocket labeled 'Batch 1000'.
Store the pocket in a safe place.
Check that the caps match the color of the reagent tubings (see 'Reagent tubings', 'Installation',
).
MS-CARD
The reagent pack or batch is controlled by a
smart card called 'MS-Card'.
O Open the MS-Card carton pocket placed
on the side of the MS-Pack.
The plastic MS-Card holder appears.
Take the plastic MS-Card holder out and
close the MS-Card carton pocket.
Insert the MS-Card in its place in the
middle of the connection panel.
The MS-Card must be inserted
following the direction of the arrow
drawn on the card itself and with the
printed side on top as shown on the
picture.
Notes :
The MS-Card of the MS9-5s Batch or
MS9-3s Batch (1000 cycles) is located
in the carton pocket of the Lyse ActiDiff reagent (See 'MS9-5s(-3s) Batch :
Installation section).
MS-PACK
The reagent pack installation is described as
follows:
Check that the diameters of the caps
connected to the tubings correspond to

the reagent bottles that you have
(default packaging: MS-Pack):

O Open the white carton precut area on top of
the MS-Pack, corresponding to the
diluent (Isoflux).
The transparent cap of the Isoflux bottle
appears, sealed with a ring.
Remove the ring.

To install a MS9-5s Batch or a MS93s Batch, see the 'MS9-5s(-3s) Batch :

MS-PACK
Pull one side of the cap of the Isoflux bottle, then pull it up entirely.
Do not open the reagent bottle before pulling it
up, otherwise there will be an
important leak of diluent.
Unscrew the cap of the bottle and take it off.
Take the cap of the Isoflux reagent tubing (white fittings) and clean its flexible tubing with a
non-fluffy piece of cloth and distilled water.
Insert the flexible tubing of the Isoflux tubing (white) in the bottle and screw the cap.

When the reagent pack installation is
complete, put the pack on the left of

the MS9-5s (MS9-3s) at the same
level, and the waste container at a
lower level than the MS9-5s (MS93s).
To have the instrument work properly,

the reagents must be at the same level
as the MS9-5s (MS9-3s).

BATCH Installation
The MS9-5s(-3s) Batch installation

is
described as follows:
O MS-Card :
Open the Lyse Acti-Diff
carton box: the MS-Card
protective holder is in the
closing flap.
As with the MS-Pack take
the card out and insert it in
the MS-Card reader located
in
the
middle
of
the
connection panel (See 'MSCard' section).
Tubing kit adaptation:
If necessary refer to the
'Reagent tubings : Batch
adaptation' section to adapt
the tubing kit to the MS9-5s
(MS9-3s) Batch as shown on
the picture.
Installation :
Dilute the Hemoref reagent
of the Batch (the instructions
Notes :
are written
on the bottle), then
normally resume the
reagents installation (see
'MS-Pack1 section).
If by lack of space it would not
be possible to have all the
elements of the Batch on the
same level,
It is possible to have
some bottles placed at
a lower level:
Isoflux,
Transflux,
Hemoref.
A
long
priming
sequence must be
programmed in this
case at the MS9-5s
(MS9-3s) startup.
It introduces risks of
higher consumption.

MS-Card LICENSE AGREEMENT
IMPORTANT - READ BEFORE INSTALLING OR USING
This document is a LEGAL AGREEMENT between you and MELET SCHLOESING Laboratoires. Do not use or load any of your
new in vitro diagnostic MSL Instrument's Software and/or any associated materials as MS-Card (the "reagent card") until you have
carefully read the following terms and conditions. By loading and/or using the Software and/or using the MS-Card used with your
new MSL instrument, you agree to be bound to the terms of this License Agreement. If you do not wish to so agree, DO NOT install
or use the Software or any other associated materials as MS-Card.
MANUFACTURER. The "Manufacturer" word used herein includes, (i) companies having originally created your analyser's Software and/ or any associated
materials as the MS-Card (electronic card which supervises the reagent quality and includes owner's codes), (ii) companies licensed to manage any rights and/or
copyrights linked to any Intellectual property used in the machine and/or in any associated material as the MS-Card, (iii) individual who has any rights on any of
the Intellectual property used in the machine and/or in any associated material as the MS-Card,
MSL INSTRUMENTS. The "MSL Instruments" words used herein include Instrument(s), (i) manufactured by MELET SCHLOESING Laboratoires - France and/or
its affiliates and/or subsidiaries and distributed directly or indirectly (by mean of local Distributors), (ii) manufactured by MELET SCHLOESING Laboratoires France and/or its affiliates and/or subsidiaries for other companies under an OEM agreement.
LICENSE. You may copy and/or install any Manufacturer's Software onto the single built-in computer (or computer board) of your new MSL instrument for your
personal, non-commercial use, and you may NOT make any back-up copy of the Software. You may use the MS-Card on your MSL instrument to run it and profit
of its reagent quality management BUT you may NOT make any back-up and/ or copy and/or duplicate and/or compatible material of this card.
OWNERSHIP OF SOFTWARE AND COPYRIGHTS. Title to all copies of the Software remains with the Manufacturer or its suppliers. The Software is copyrighted
and protected by the European laws and other countries, and international treaty provisions. You may not remove any copyright notices from the Software. The
Manufacturer may make changes to the Software, and/or to items referenced therein as the MS-Card, at any time without notice, but is not obligated to support or
update the Software. Except as otherwise expressly provided, the Manufacturer grants no express or implied right under its patents, copyrights, trademarks, or
other intellectual property rights. You may transfer the Software and/or any associated materials as MS-Card only if the recipient agreesto be fully bound
by these
terms and if you retain no copies of the Software.
LIMITED MEDIA WARRANTY. If the Software has been delivered directly by the Manufacturer (or one of its Distributors) on physical media, the Manufacturer
warrants the media to be free from material physical defects for a period of ninety (90) days after delivery by the Manufacturer (or one of its Distributors). If such a
defect is found, return the media to the Manufacturer or your local Distributor for replacement or alternate delivery of the Software as the Manufacturer may
select. The limited media warranty is the same for the MS-Card if the MS-Card has not been already in use.
EXCLUSION OF OTHER WARRANTIES EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF ANY KIND INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, NONINFRINGEMENT, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The
Manufacturer does not warrant or assume responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of any information, text, graphics, links or other items contained within
the Software and/or the MS-Card.
MANUFACTURER LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE MANUFACTURER OR ITS SUPPLIERS
BELIABLE
FOR
ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR LOST INFORMATION) ARISING
OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF THE MANUFACTURER OR ITS SUPPLIERS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE
POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME JURISDICTIONS PROHIBIT EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR
CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER LEGAL RIGHTS
THAT VARY FROM JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.
USER LIABILITY. IN THE EVENT YOU DO NOT RESPECT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY AND/OR, INFRINGES PARTIALLY OR ENTIRELY THE
MANUFACTURER'S INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY -AND/OR ANY OTHER COMPANY'S INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY USED BY ANY OF MSL INSTRUMENTSINCLUDING SOFTWARE COPYRIGHT, PATENTS, TRADE MARKS, LOGO, MS-CARDS TECHNOLOGY OR OTHERS, OR, HELP OR PARTICIPATES WITH A
THIRD PARTY NOT TO RESPECT THE SAME MANUFACTURER'S INDUSTRIAL PROPERTIES -AND/OR ANY OTHER COMPANY'S INDUSTRIAL
PROPERTY USED BY ANY OF MSL INSTRUMENTS- AS ABOVE MENTIONED, INCLUDING DISASSEMBLING THE SOFTWARE OF ANY OF MSL
INSTRUMENTS AND/OR ANY KIND OF OTHER REVERSE-ENGINEERING ACTION, YOU ARE ENTIRELY LIABLE TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR ANY
SPECIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST OF PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS OR OTHER INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND. ANY
FAILURE TO RESPECT THE MANUFACTURER'S INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY SHALL BE DEEMED AS A CONTRACT VIOLATION AND A MATERIAL BREACH
OF THIS AGREEMENT.
APPLICABLE LAWS. Claims arising under this Agreement shall be governed by the laws of your country and/or countries of Europe, excluding its principles of
conflict of laws and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the Sale of Goods. You may not export the Software and/or any associated materials as MSCards in violation of applicable export laws and regulations.
