Educational Portal Sensitisation Plan

Sensitisation Objectives
The Education Portal sensitisation is designed to enable teachers to:
1. Access the MoEYI online portal
2. Use the discussion groups
3. Explore the Central Repository of Educational Content
4. Access and use the Virtual Classroom and Sensitisation (VCT) Application (App.)

Learning Objectives
Sensitisation Objective #1:
At the end of the sensitisation programme, all participants will be able to: access the MoEYI
online portal.

Sensitisation Objective #2:


At the end of the sensitisation programme, all participants will be able to: use the Discussion
Groups

Explain how to join a discussion group
Join a discussion group
Describe step by step how to create and respond to a post
Create and respond to a post

Cooperate with other trainers by responding to posts

Sensitisation Objective #3:


At the end of the sensitisation programme, all participants will be able to: explore the Central
Repository of Educational Content (CREC).
Learning Objectives
1. Access the central repository
2. Analyse the design of the CREC
3. Retrieve files from the CREC
Sensitisation Objective #4:

At the end of the sensitisation programme, all participants will be able to: access and use the
Virtual Classroom and Sensitisation (VCT) App.
Learning Objectives
1. Access the Virtual Classroom and Sensitisation (VCT) as a student
2. Join classes created by the facilitator and take part in activities they create
3. Complete and submit a class assignment
4. Check their grades

Sensitisation Programme Delivery Mode


The Sensitisation will be delivered over three hours via Face-to-Face Classroom/Sensitisation
Room. Methodologies include the use of group work, discussions, and demonstrations.

Sensitisation Schedule
Session 1. Overview of the MoEYI Online portal (20 min)
Objectives
At the end of the session teachers will be able to:
1. Explain what is MoEYI Portal
2. Discuss the objectives and functions of the Portal
3. Expound the value and significance of the Portal
Techniques for facilitation:
Activity 1.1 Overview of the MoEYI Online Portal
a) Discuss the objectives and functions of the Portal
b) Working in groups participants will develop a convincing argument for the use of
the portal

Session 2: Access the MoEYI Online Portal (50 min)

Techniques for facilitation:


Activity 2.1 Access the MoEYI Online Portal
a) Discuss the home page identifying and explaining the function of each of the
Google Applications For Education (GAFE) App.
b) Discuss the email conventions and allow trainers to log in using their MoEYI
email
c) Demonstrate the two ways to access the portal.
Session 3. Use the discussion groups (30 min)
Objectives
At the end of the session teachers will be able to:
1. Identify the three discussion groups on the portal and state the function of each
2. Explain how to join a discussion group
3. Join a discussion group
4. Describe step by step how to create and respond to a post
5. Create and respond to a post
6. Upload a file to, and send a link in a post. (Such as website links, videos, images,
documents etc.)
7. Access posts from email
8. Cooperate with other trainers by responding to posts
Techniques for facilitation:
Activity 3.1 Use the discussion groups
a) Discuss the use of the discussion groups

b) Demonstrate how to join a discussion group and have participants carry out the
steps.
c) Demonstrate how to create and respond to a post Demonstrate how to upload
different types of files (Such as website links, videos, images, documents etc.)
d) Ask each participant to respond to a post and upload a different type of file
e) Ask participants to access the posts from their email account (moeschools.edu.jm)
Session 4. Explore the Central Repository of Educational Content, CREC (20 min)
Objectives
At the end of the session teachers will be able to:
1. Access the central repository
2. Analyse the design of the CREC
3. Retrieve files from the CREC
Techniques for facilitation:
Activity 4.1 Explore the Central Repository of Educational Content and upload
content
a) Ask participants to click on the CREC icon on the portal homepage
b) Practise accessing each folder and sub-folder, and retrieve desired files.
c) Download and save files to computer hard drive or an external storage device.
d) Discuss the layout of the CREC
Session 5. Access, setup and use the Virtual Classroom and Sensitisation, VCT (60 min)
Objectives
At the end of the session teachers will be able to:

Access the Virtual Classroom and Sensitisation (VCT) as a student


Use the code provided by your facilitator to join a Classroom.
Join classes created by other participants and take part in activities they create
Complete and submit a class assignment
Check grades and feedback from teacher

Techniques for facilitation:


Activity 5.1 Access, setup and use the Virtual Classroom as a student
a) Discuss the Virtual Classroom app. and watch the facilitator demonstration
b) Sign in to the class as student and respond to the functions initiated by the teacher
(announcement, assignment, conversation, question, upload a file etc.).
