Rules at a glance:
Welcome to the ITC Interrobang Season 6 Case Challenge. You have taken the first
step in what promises to be an exciting journey into the world of ITC! This is your
opportunity to experience the thought process behind some of our world class
brands and best practices. To participate in the Case Challenge, go through the
terms mentioned below and register with your Campus Point of Contact (SPOC).

Eligibility The Case Challenge is open to full time final year students of the
flagship management course in the following campuses:

Marketing Campuses: Registration for the case challenge to open on 24 th July,


2016 and close on 28th July, 2016, 10:00 PM.
Final case solutions to be sent to ITC on or before 14 th August, 2016, 06:00 PM.

Teams Comprising maximum of 4 students and minimum of 2 students. No


student may be a member of more than 1 team.

Where to register? Register with your Campus Point of Contact (SPOC) giving
names of your team members, email IDs, mobile numbers and your team name
before 10:00 PM on 28th July, 2016.

What to submit? A case analysis document addressing the expected outcome,

comprising no more than 6 pages of single spaced, 12-point font word document.
The first page should comprise of an executive summary of the case solution. The
executive summary must be limited to one page. 5 teams to be shortlisted from
each campus. Top 2 teams to present to the ITC team on campus.

Prizes - Campus Round Winner: Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) + Cash award of Rs.
1,00,000/- + Wills Lifestyle Gift Vouchers worth Rs. 32,000/-; RunnerUp: Cash
award of Rs. 50,000/- +Wills Lifestyle Gift Vouchers worth Rs. 24,000/-; Campus
Finalists (remaining 3 teams): Wills Lifestyle Gift Vouchers worth Rs. 16,000/-.

Where to send in your entries? Send in your entries to the case challenge
email IDs mentioned against your campus below. All entries must be sent from your
campus e-mail ID with the full names, campus roll number, contact number and email IDs of all team members and the Team Name. Subject Line of e-mail to

Official Rules
1. General:
a. Before registering yourself for the ITC Interrobang Season 6 Case Challenge
(hereinafter called the "Contest"), you must read and accept these rules
(hereinafter called the "Rules"), in their entirety. By registering yourself, you
accept without reservation, all the terms and conditions of the Rules, and any
changes that may be made in the Rules, by ITC from time to time.
b. All decisions of ITC in relation to the ITC Interrobang Season 6 Case Challenge
shall be final and no queries or correspondence will be entertained in this
regard.
c. The Contest is open to the campuses/institutes/universities mentioned in
Annexure 1 hereto (hereinafter collectively referred to as the "Participants").
d. Participation in the Contest, shall not give rise to any contractual relations
with ITC or any of its subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to as the "ITC Group")
and, in particular, shall not constitute or give rise to an employment
relationship between ITC and any student.
e. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
2. Participation
a. Participation in the Contest is open to full time second year students
registered for a Post Graduate degree programme in the campuses listed in
Annexure 1. Participants in this Contest must be due to graduate in 2017.

b. Acceptance of the Rules by any member of the Student Team shall be


deemed acceptance by the Participant and by the other members of the
Student Team.
3. Registration
a. The Student Teams from participating campuses must register themselves
with the identified Campus Point of Contact by 24 th July, 2016, 10:00 PM
(hereinafter referred to as "the Registration"). Registration is a simple process
interested student teams must email their team name, names of individual
team members along with their email IDs, mobile nos., and campus roll
numbers to the Campus Point of Contact (List of Campus SPOCs in Annexure
2).
b. ITC reserves the right to verify the validity of the information provided by the
Student Teams at any time during the Contest and to request copies of the
identity cards and/or student cards issued by the concerned appropriate
campus authority. Any incorrect or false information provided by any
Student/Student Team may result in disqualification of the Student Team.
c. The registered Student Team must choose a team name (hereinafter called
"the Team Name"). This will be used in all subsequent communication in
relation to the Contest. The Team Name submitted during Registration cannot
be subsequently modified.
d. ITC reserves the right to ask any Student Team to modify its Team Name, if
ITC deems it necessary to do so.
e. All the members of the Teams must provide a valid e-mail address at the time
of Registration.
f.

Each Student Team shall consist of not more than 4 students and not less
than 2 students, all of whom are registered for a Masters / PG Diploma
program with the same campus. Each Student shall be a member of only one
Student Team.

g. Any Student registering or found registered as part of more than one Student
Team shall cause the automatic disqualification of the concerned Student
Team(s) of which he/she is a student.
h. ITC reserves the right to refuse the participation of, or to disqualify any
Student Team and/or Participant from the Contest at any time. All decisions
taken by ITC, including any decision to refuse participation of or to disqualify
any Student Team and/or Participant from the Contest shall be final and
binding on the Participants.
i.

All Student Teams shall submit their Case Study analysis latest by the
deadline dates and time mentioned below:

Marketing Campuses: Complete entries to be received by ITC on or before


14th August, 2016, 06:00 PM.

4. The Competition
a. ITC will make the cases available to the identified campuses. Cases may be
the same or different across campuses and will be decided at the sole
discretion of ITC Limited.
b. Registered Teams will submit a case analysis document addressing the
expected outcome, comprising no more than 6 pages of single spaced, 12point font word document. The first page should comprise of an executive
summary of the case solution. The executive summary must be limited to one
page.
c. There is no pre-determined structure to analyse the case. Participants are
free to use any format which best illustrates and provides convincing
arguments for their idea.
d. Wherever necessary, the Participants must make references to the sources of
information and data.
e. Case presentations will be judged based on identified criteria the originality,
creativity and uniqueness of the idea will receive the highest weightage; the
implementability, sustainability and scalability of the idea; its fit with ITCs
vision and the manner in which it can leverage ITCs strengths; the
thoroughness of research, analytics and economic logic used to defend
viability and execution of the idea.

g. From amongst all the entries received in each participating campus, the top 5
entries will be selected through preliminary screening by ITC. The top 2
entries will be provided the opportunity to present their case analysis and
ideas to the ITC team when it visits the campus as part of Interrobang.
h. ITCs judging panel will after assessing the quality of the presentations of the
top 2 teams, decide on the Winner and the RunnerUp in each campus.
5. Prizes
5 teams will be shortlisted from each campus. The top 2 teams from those
shortlisted will get the opportunity to present to the ITC team. The following
prizes shall be awarded to the 5 campus finalists during the Campus Case
Challenge Round:

Every Participant and/or Student Team shall be fully responsible for the payment
of any tax, contribution or amount of any kind relating to the prizes awarded.
6.

Additional Provisions

a. Participants in the Contest will have access to information concerning the


activities, operations, reports and employees of ITC, and companies in the ITC
Group. Participants shall use such information strictly for the purpose for
which it is disclosed and shall not misuse or exploit such information for any
commercial or other gains. Any misuse of such information may result in
disqualification of the Student Team/ Participant from the Contest, at the sole
discretion of ITC. In the event of any such misuse of information, in addition
to disqualifying the concerned Student Team, ITC shall also be entitled to take
recourse to appropriate remedies, as advised.
b. ITC reserves the right to shorten, modify or cancel the Contest at any time,
without assigning any reason, especially in the event of bugs, viruses or
unauthorised human intervention that would bring into question the
administration, the security or the proper functioning of the Contest. ITC shall
have no liability in the event of such shortening or modification or
cancellation, and neither the Participants nor the Student Teams shall be
entitled to make any claim against ITC in this regard.
c. ITC specifically reserves the right to waive/modify any of the Rules of the
Challenge.
d. All intellectual property in the ITC Interrobang Season 6 Case Challenge, its
concept, content, appearance, logo and any other graphic element and its
organisation are and shall remain the sole property of ITC.
e. ITC intends to make use of the data and ideas emerging out of the Contest
and for the purpose shall acquire all right, title and interest in any intellectual
property including copyright and broadcasting rights in the Case analysis and
ideas presented to ITC by the Participants within the framework of their
participation in the ITC Interrobang Season 6 Case Challenge, and the
Participants shall procure and assign/ give such exclusive rights to ITC, which
accepts them. Such rights include all rights of reproduction, representation,
adaptation or translation associated with the Case studies (designs, slogans,
models, etc), for all media, including those which are not yet known at the
time of the Contest, for any purpose (including commercial, promotional or
advertising) world-wide and without any limitation in number until the end of
the term of such rights.
f.

No Intellectual Property Right arising out of the Contest shall vest or accrue in
favour of any Participant. No Participant shall use, assign, license any right in
respect of the Case Study, developed at the instance of ITC during this
Contest to any third party. The Participant shall be liable for any breach in this
respect.

g. The Participants undertake, at the request and expense of ITC, to do all acts
and execute all documents which may be necessary to confirm the title of ITC
to the intellectual property rights in the Case studies and hereby irrevocably
appoints ITC to do all such acts and to sign all such documents as may be
necessary to give ITC the full benefit of the intellectual property rights.

h. Any resemblance or similarity between the Case analysis presented by the


Students and any products developed by ITC would be fortuitous. Since the
Case studies are developed on the basis of the ideas and the case studies
provided by ITC and since a similar development may be in progress, all the
concepts presented by the Student Teams and/or Students during the Contest
may, in no event, be considered as having given rise to a real development.
i.

ITC is not responsible for the entry errors of details provided by the Student
Teams, for incorrect/invalid e-mail addresses related to the Contest.

j.

ITC does not guarantee the authenticity or accuracy of any information, data
or other material relating to the ITC Group, its business, operations or
products etc. which is available in any media, including the web and written
articles. The Student Teams shall be entirely responsible to verify and validate
such information, data or other material prior to its use.

k. All costs and expenses, including costs of any material, equipment or


resources used by the Student Teams during their participation in the
Contest, shall be borne by the Participants and ITC shall have no liability in
this regard.
l.

By registering for the Contest, the Participants agree that ITC has the right to
use and publish throughout the World and on the web, all details provided by
the Participants at the time of Registration, including photographs, for
advertisements or for promotional purposes, without any remuneration, for
an unlimited period. ITC may also publish, in any media whatsoever, any
details in relation to or results of the ITC Interrobang Season 6 Case
Challenge at any time.

m. Any question or clarification concerning the Rules of this Contest may be sent
to: interrobang@itc.in
n. The decisions of ITC in relation to any dispute arising out of or relating to the
Contest shall be final and binding on the Participants and Student Teams and
Students, and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
o. Any dispute arising out of or in relation to this Contest shall be governed by
the laws of India and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the
Courts at Kolkata.
