Special Achievements Future Plan Short Term and Long Term Goal

Domains which can be extend for training to other department students

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will be conducting in-house
training program on various equipments/software purchased through this grant for our faculty
members and students. The research program in renewable energy systems makes use of new
developments in machine drives, power converter analysis, digital control techniques, and
mixed-signal integrated circuits to improve power management and energy utilization in a wide
range of electronic systems including battery-powered mobile electronics, high-frequency
switching power supplies, and renewable-energy systems. Current research topics include
development of advanced digital and analog control techniques and integrated-circuit
implementation of controllers for high-efficiency, high-frequency DC power supplies and highperformance low-harmonic rectifiers; intelligent control of photovoltaic power generation
systems; study of voltage and current harmonics in utility systems and components, and design
of a novel generator and converter system for wind power. Apart from that hands on training
would be provided for the industries on the need basis. We have identified following short
term/value added courses to be conducted which will be beneficial for both under graduate and
post graduate students and also industrial needs.
Short term courses:

Energy Auditing

Power System Deregulation

Power quality improvement

Embedded DSP control of Power Converters
