1. Project Preparation Phase

Educate and train the new users on Simple Finance
Prepare a blueprint document for business process re-design and
reporting
Period-end closing activities, closing the periods
Reconciliation reports, financial reports
Pre-checks
Can Simple Finance be installed?
Has Asset Accounting (New) been installed?

2. Installation Phase
Install Simple Finance -BASIS
Once installed, the system will perform the following activities:
Creating backup tables for totals and indexes
Creating SAP HANA views
Replacement of new programs and transactions

Customize General Ledger Accounting
Check Ledger Configuration
Check Accounting Principles

Points to Consider
Simple Finance can be installed after any Period-end
(does not have to be year-end)

The sequence of steps is very important

SFIN is installed on the System i.e. DEV, QAS, PRD

(not on client i.e. 100, 110, 200)

Simple Finance Migration is for existing SAP ERP Customers
There are few options:
Classic GL SFIN
Classic GL New GL SFIN
New GL SFIN

(any period-end)
(any fiscal year-end, then period-end)
(any period-end)

Migration from Classic GL SFIN

Certain functionalities will not exist for the migrated items (logic!)
Document Splitting
Balance sheet by Profit Center, Segments
Any other New GL benefits like Parallel Accounting, etc.
+ Universal Journal (ACDOCA) is directly updated with CO data, so no
reconciliation ledger required between FI and CO.
Personal opinion - Since NewGL has been in existence for about 10 years,
if you havent already migrated to NewGL you might not be ready for
Simple Finance..
