At Almac we give our people the

recognition and rewards they truly
deserve for the hard work they do.
Employees benefit from industry
competitive salaries and the chance
to work with great people on exciting
projects with lots of opportunity
for growth however we realise that
attracting the finest talent calls
for more than just a good financial
package and stimulating work. Thats
why weve worked hard to create
initiatives that benefit our people
and their families, both inside and
outside of work.

This rewards brochure has been

created to help you understand and
get the most from the Almac benefits
package and it is hoped that you will
find this to be a useful reference tool.
The guide provides high level
information regarding our employee
benefits entitlements however full
detail on all programmes and policies
can be accessed via the Employee
Handbook and the company Altranet.

FAMILY FRIENDLY
INITIATIVES
AS A FAMILY FRIENDLY
ORGANISATION
ALMAC RECOGNISES
THE IMPORTANCE
OF FAMILY AND THE
NEED TO SUPPORT
WORKING PARENTS
IN WAYS THAT HELP
THEM BALANCE THEIR
WORK AND FAMILY
LIVES. OUR FAMILY
FRIENDLY POLICIES
AND INITIATIVES
ENSURE THAT BOTH
EXISTING AND NEW
FAMILIES GET ALL THE
HELP AND SUPPORT
THEY NEED.

FLEXIBLE WORKING

ENHANCED MATERNITY PAY

We recognise that flexible working

arrangements can help us recruit
and retain the best employees.
Therefore we endeavour to
accommodate flexible working
requests in line with business
needs.

Job Share

As an expectant mum at Almac

you will be given time off for
antenatal, midwife, health visitor
and parent craft classes as well
as maternity pay and leave.
Almac operates an occupational
maternity pay scheme and
eligible employees can avail of an
enhanced maternity pay benefit.
An early return bonus (payable in
childcare vouchers) is available
to new mothers who choose to
come back to work ahead of their
scheduled return date.

CHILDCARE VOUCHERS

PATERNITY LEAVE

We understand that the cost

of childcare can be high for
employees with parental
responsibilities. Therefore in
conjunction with Employers for
Childcare we have introduced
a childcare voucher scheme to
help alleviate these costs. As
a working parent you have the
option to sacrifice part of your
salary in exchange for childcare
vouchers which are an acceptable
method of paying for registered
childcare. Childcare vouchers are
exempt from tax and National
Insurance contributions, therefore
offering potential savings
for working parents who use
registered childcare.

As a new dad at Almac you will, if

eligible, be entitled to take either
one week or two consecutive
weeks paternity leave to care for,
support and spend time with your
new family.

Flexible working initiatives

include:
Part Time Working/Reduced
Hours
Flexible Weekly Work Patterns

PARENTAL LEAVE
Following the birth of a child,
parents can take parental leave of
up to 18 weeks unpaid leave per
child up to the age of five years.
DEPENDANTS LEAVE
Almac understands the need
to support staff who need to
balance their caring and working
commitments. Therefore
all employees may request a
reasonable amount of time
off to deal with unexpected or
sudden emergencies involving
dependants and to make longerterm arrangements for their care.

Pg.3

PAID LEAVE
AT ALMAC WE REALISE
THAT THERE IS MORE
TO LIFE THAN WORK.
ALL OF OUR PEOPLE
HAVE VERY DIFFERENT
LIFESTYLES AND
COMMITMENTS
WHICH REQUIRE A
DEGREE OF FLEXIBILITY
ON OUR PART. THATS
WHY WE OFFER
VARIOUS DIFFERENT
PAID LEAVE OPTIONS.

ANNUAL LEAVE

MOVING HOUSE LEAVE

As an Almac employee you will

enjoy 34 days annual leave per
year, this is of course pro-rated
if you are working on a part time
basis.

Moving house is a particularly busy

time. Therefore in order to assist
our employees with this process
we provide one additional day paid
leave if they are moving house.

FIXED CLOSURE DAYS

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

We recognise that not everyone

may want to take their leave in
line with public holiday periods.
Therefore we offer a flexible
system whereby employees
are not forced to use their leave
allowance for defined dates
throughout the year. Almac
operates only five fixed closure
days each year, the rest of your
leave is yours to take whenever
suits you.

In the unfortunate event where a

close family member dies, Almac
will provide you with paid time
off to support you through what
we understand will be a very
difficult time. Bereavement leave
of up to 3 days is in place to help
employees deal with the death
and funeral arrangements of an
immediate family member and
we also provide additional paid
leave of up to 1 day to enable
employees to attend the funeral of
a close family relative.
Please note that bereavement
counselling is also provided via the
Westfield Health Scheme.

MARRIAGE LEAVE
We appreciate that getting married
is not only an exciting time for you
and your family but also a very
busy time with lots to organise.
Therefore Almac provides
employees who are getting
married with 2 additional days paid
leave to be taken around the time
of their marriage.
