NARRATIVE REPORT
Earthquake is one of the famous disasters that caused people died or
injured. It cannot be detected when and where it would be happened to anyone.
This is mostly happened in places where people are hanging around and
working. Earthquake is understood by being a natural phenomenon caused by
the constant movements of the earths crustal plates and due to climate change
too.
Connectively, the Calubcub1 Elementary School conducted the
simultaneous School-Based Earthquake Drill on June, 2016. Pursuant to the
Division Memorandum which was uploaded last June 21, 2016, PAGYANIG 2 nd
Quarter 2016 National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.
The drill started with the ceremonial tapping of the bell where the pupils
from Kindergarten to Grade Six together with their teachers and followed
strictly the three important things during an earthquake. These were the
Ducking, Covering and Holding, Watching out for falling objects, and Keeping
calm and Avoiding panic. Before the actual drills, Mr. Irec L. Bernarte, school
DRRMC Coordinator conducted an orientation during the flag ceremony. He
disseminated the information about the occurrence of earthquake as well as the
needs to carry out a drill to enhance the pupils awareness on the safety
measures before, during and after the earthquake.
The drill participants were 533 pupils and 15 school personnel.
The drill lasted for four minutes. No untoward incident happened during
the drill.
Mrs. Eunice S. Delacion, Principal 1, evaluate the drill. She said,
Earthquake preparedness should be taught well to the pupils and should be
followed strictly during drill. She further said that Earthquake drill are
immersions and if the pupils are taught on what to do or how to act then actions
and reactions will be automatic.
Finally, it was indeed a success. Preparedness and mitigation are key
strategies in reducing disaster risk.
