The NI Analog Communication Lab provides experience in analyzing and testing of analog
communication systems software, as well as the components of communication channels.
The following Transmitter and Receiver channel measurements can be performed using this
Lab:
• Amplitude Modulation: Double Sideband Suppressed Carrier, Single Sideband, Vestigial Sideband
• Angle Modulation: Wideband Frequency Modulation, Narrowband Frequency Modulation and
Angle Modulation
• Pulse Modulation: Pulse Amplitude Modulation, Pulse Position Modulation and Pulse Duration
Modulation
• Frequency Modulation: Balanced Frequency Discrimination, FM Demodulation using PLL, Pulse
Demodulation, Analog Communication System Design
• Channel: Gaussian Noise, AM Signal, FM Signal, Pulse Modulated Signal at the Receiver Front End
• Receiver: Filter Demodulation, Amplitude Modulation-Envelope Detector, Square Law Detector,
DSBSC Coherent Demodulation, SSB Coherent Demodulation
Features
• Over 20 circuit blocks for fundamental communications operations and connectivity to NI ELVIS I/O
• After building a circuit, students can apply the signal generation and measurement capability of NI
LabVIEW and NI ELVIS platform to explore the system
• Pre-written labs for a hands-on experience to teach communications concepts
• Covers analog and digital communications concepts such as AM, FM, DSB, SSB, PAM, PCM, PWM,
SNR, Sampling, PCM
