the course, the learner will be able to decipher notes in scale and value, distinguish
musical styles used throughout history and develop instrumentation through
musicianship.
Materials Required:

- Loose leaf paper
- Composition Notebook for Journal Entries and notes
Gaggle.net account
Class Dojo account
Google Classroom account

*Students are expected to bring all required materials to class everyday!

Class Dojo will be utilized as a means of communication in the music classroom
this year. It will be implemented for both choir and exploratory music. Parents are
encouraged to join and students are required to join for participation.
Google Classroom: In an effort to achieve a paperless goal, most of the in class
documents and assignments will be administered through the Google Classroom
Portal. Students will receive timely information as well as due dates and will be
able to sync their assignments to a calendar located within the classroom. This will
be a means to have the student stay focused and on task while implementing
technology in an educational way. I will be looking forward to helping everyone
understand this concept more as the year progresses.
Behavior: Students are expected to maintain a well behaved attitude that is
conducive to the learning environment. Classroom norms and procedures are
posted throughout the classroom.

Quizzes and Tests: Quizzes are an integral part of exploratory music this year.
There will be more quizzes in-between tests to evaluate student learning and
knowledge in order to appropriately and effectively take assessments. Tests and
quizzes can be made up no more than 3 days after the students return. After that
time, the students grade will be averaged as is. Any or all of the information that
the student missed during class sessions will be available to them electronically as
needed. No unnecessary provisions shall be made.
Homework: All assignments given as homework are expected back on the date
assigned. Late homework will be accepted but at a penalty.
1 day late -10%
2 days late -20%
3 days late -30%
Anything after 3 days will not be accepted unless it is an EXCUSED ABSENCE
approved by administration. No unnecessary provisions shall be made. Most of all
homework assignments will be shared through the students Gaggle or Google
Classroom account so that anything will not be missed.

*Always remember that some points are better than no points!*
