Windows Server 2003 Installation

1. Insert Windows Server 2003 CD to the CD-Rom tray, boot it to enter setup.
2. Proceed and accept the Windows Licensing Agreement.
3. Format the desired partition or make a new one if required, use quick NTFS format to
format the desired partition.
4. Once format is finish the installation will start to copying files. The installation will
automatically reboot once done.
5. After rebooting, the installation process will enter in a GUI installation mode. The
installation will continue by installing devices.
6. For the first phase you are required to set up your “Regional and Language Options” by
clicking customizing, choose your location, standard of format, languages according to
your country or your preferences. Once done proceed to next.
7. Next input your name and organization in the box and proceed to “Licensing Mode”.
Select the licensing mode according to your type of server and business and continue.
8. Next give a computer name, make an administrator password and continue.
9. At Date and Time settings, choose your time zone and change the time accordingly and
proceed to another phase of installation.
10. For the second phase, you are required to select your Networking Settings. Choose
“Custom Settings”. In networking component make sure Client for Microsoft Networks,
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
component is selected.
11. At Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties, set an IP address as 192.168.0.1, subnet mask
255.255.255.0 and default gateway 192.168.0.1. For the subnet mask, according to your
ISP or Domain, input in 202.188.0.133 as DNS server, and 202.188.1.5 as alternate DNS
server. Once done, proceed.
12. For “Workgroup or Computer Domain”, name a workgroup or domain accordingly and
proceed and another installation phase will continue. Once installation finishes it will
automatically restart.
13. Once restart, you are required to login using the password you have set earlier.
14. On the welcome screen Windows Server 2003 R2 requires you to insert CD 2, insert the
CD and continue the installation, once done you are finish installing Windows Server
2003.

Active Directory Installation


1. After installing drivers and application, you need to install active directory for DNS
domain.
2. Go to Start>Administrative Tools>Configure Your Server. A windows will pop up,
proceed to preliminary steps and it will auto detect your network connection.
3. After detecting your connection, you will be bring to the Configuration Options, choose
custom configuration and continue.
4. Select Domain Controller (Active Directory) in the Server Roles and proceed to
installation of the active directory.
5. A Active Directory Installation Wizard will pop up to help you configure the installation.
6. The first phase you are inform of the Operating System Compatibility, make sure your
operating system is supported and proceed.
7. At Domain Controller Type, select Domain Controller for a new domain and continue.
8. Next at Create a New Domain, select in a new forest and proceed.
9. At New Domain Name, input the desired DNS name in the textbox. Once done continue
at NetBIOS Domain Name, input the desired domain name and proceed.
10. Next specify the folders to contain the active directory database and log files, leave it in
default and proceed.
11. Now you are required to specify folders to be shared as the system volume leave it in
default and continue.
12. In DNS Registration Diagnostic, verify DNS support by selecting Install and configure
the DNS Server on this computer, and set this computer to use the DNS server as its
preferred DNS server and continue.
13. At Permissions, select the second options and proceed.
14. Next you are required to create a restore mode password to continue.
15. At Summary, review the options you selected and confirm it by proceeding to the
installation.
16. Once installation is complete you are required to restart the computer, once restart you
have completed installing Active Directory, it now can be found in Administrative Tools.

Adding New Users in Active Directory

1. Go Start>Administrative Tools>Active Directory Users and Computers.


2. A windows will pop up, go to your domain and select users. To add users right click
Users>New>Users.
3. Input your credentials such as name and logon name and proceed.
4. Next customize the rights of the account and create a password with combination of
numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters. Once done proceed
