Dear Parents, Guardians, & Family:

This year in Encore your students will have the opportunity to take Speech and Drama for the entire year.
There are three teachers on the Speech and Drama team: Angie Post, Shane Riddell and Christopher Young.
Throughout the year we will cover the specifics of Speech/Oral Communication. We will have students present
a variety of speeches including informative, demonstrative, and presentation speeches. We will also cover
elements of debate and interpersonal communication. In addition, students will be introduced to the
fundamentals of acting and will have opportunities to participate in school theatre productions; there are plans
to showcase a play in the fall and a second play in the spring.
Angie Post is in her second year of teaching; she is originally from West Covina, California. Last year, Mrs.
Post taught 9th and 11th grade English and Creative Writing at ALLPS. While living in Southern California,
Mrs. Post coached various high school colorguard teams in Los Angeles County, and currently assists with the
colorguard program at Fayetteville High School. She is immensely excited to be joining the staff at McNair
Middle School where she is looking forward to helping students discover and nurture their love for rhetoric and
theatre performance.
Shane Riddell is in her third year of teaching. She is originally from Texarkana, TX; Mrs. Riddell began her
teaching career in Little Elm, TX where she taught 6th-8th grade Career and Technical Education courses. Last
year, Mrs. Riddell joined the Mustang Family as an Input Technologies teacher. This upcoming school year,
she will co-sponsor McNairs Girls On the Run Club along with other Mustang faculty. Mrs. Riddell is so
excited to begin a new year at McNair Middle School where she is looking forward to helping students build
confidence through speech and drama.
Christopher Young is in his seventh year of teaching. He taught the last five years in Hamburg, AR, teaching
Computerized Business Applications, Advanced Spreadsheet and Advanced Database. He was also Future
Business Leaders of America Co-Sponsor, ACSIP chair and Student Council Sponsor for 3 years; Mr. Young is
sponsor of Student Council this year at McNair. He is extremely excited about being at McNair Middle School
and meeting new students, parents and helping students to feel more encouraged through Speech and Drama.
Having been active in Drama in high school, he looks forward to helping students gain insight into acting in
plays.
