Otolaryngology Associates of Tennessee (OAT), Nashville, TN
Responsible for the day to day operations of this $6 million, 7 provider, full service Ear, Nose
and Throat practice serving Middle Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky, which included three
general ENT offices, two Physician Hearing Aid Centers and three Allergy testing and treatment
centers.
Recruited six additional Providers (3 Physicians and 3 Nurse Practitioners), and two
Audiologists. Negotiated merger with Allergy Care of Cool Springs to double allergy patient
volume and add in excess of $650,000 of new revenue to the practice.
Established 4th Year Clinical site for Doctoral Audiology students.
Initiated multiple expansion plans and renovation projects in five locations, including a new
office in Smyrna, TN opening in October 2015 and a new Physician Hearing Aid Center in
November 2015.
Revamped business operations by restructuring staffing for more efficiency and
responsiveness to patient needs, resulting in improved customer relations and patients seen

Responsible for the organizational oversight and leadership of this evolving, integrated health
system that grew to include Richmond Memorial Hospital, a 159-bed health facility with acute,
skilled nursing, and sub-acute care beds, a large home health division, rural health clinics, a
Medical Services organization (MSO), primary care network and specialty physician practices,
outreach clinics, mobile health services and Hospital Foundation.
Led an organizational turnaround resulting in the health systems most successful years of
financial performance. Expanded service offerings and added 15 new physicians to the
community including multiple medical specialties not previously available.
Grew annual revenues from $33 to $100 million.
Over a six year period initiated and completed negotiations to have Richmond Health System
become part of FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Pinehurst, NC, to guarantee continued growth of
the health care services in Richmond County, protect the physician practices and ensure
continued employment opportunities for the hospital staff.

December 1990 to December 1992

Responsible for assignment of turning around a community healthcare facility that had lost its
JCAHO accreditation and was on the verge of losing its Medicare Certification.
Revamped daily operations, managing expenses, recruiting new physicians and empowering
managers to position their departments to better care for patients.
Rebuilt trust in the community by soliciting input and support for new services and renewed
ties to area businesses.
Worked with larger area healthcare providers to expand scope of services and to build
partnerships in an attempt to ensure long term viability of the hospital.
Cleaned up more than $800,000 of accounts payable and moved the hospital closer to
financial viability.
Implemented a new financial billing system to improve collections.

The Orthopaedic Hospital of Charlotte, Charlotte, NC

June 1984 to December 1990

Responsible for the day-to-day operations and service development in this 166 bed Orthopaedic
specialty hospital.
Completed $16 million in construction projects and service expansion.

Implemented many new lines of business including Emergency Room services, and an
Occupational Rehab program called Work Evaluation & Reactivation Center (WERC.)
Led the transition to Medicare Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs) and Prospective Pay
System (PPS), which resulted in a complete reversal of the surgical services from 90%
inpatient to 90% outpatient over a period of several months.
Negotiated marketing relationships to become the official hospital of the Charlotte Hornets
and the Carolina Panthers.
Initiated discussions with multiple potential partners which culminated in the sale of the
facility to Presbyterian Hospital (now Novant Health).
