NCMPR District 1
Medallion Submission 28. Social Media Campaign
Registration Rally (April 13-22, 2016)
Social Media and Digital Activities
Purpose
AACCs Counseling, Advising and Retention Services (CARS) in conjunction with Records and Registration was in the third
year of organizing a Registration Rally to encourage early fall 2016 registration. Members of Public Relations and
Marketing were invited to participate in the planning to help achieve the following, mutually determined goals:

increase event awareness and visibility to current students

increase the number of students receiving advising during this time period
increase the number of students registering during this time period

To help accomplish these goals, the committee decided to increase the number of social media posts from past years as
well as the number of platforms to include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the AACC website homepage. Additionally,
a cohesive look in line with print materials was created with to reinforce the key messages register now, pay later,
get the classes you want and get help with the process.

Outcome
We were able to obtain clear results that social media was effective and incredibly impactful in reaching large numbers
on social media and the events Web page, www.aacc.edu/recreg/regrally.cfm. Notable results that reflect we were able
to achieve our goals are:

The average number of website visits per day in 2016 (73) compared to 2015 (9) - 711% increase!
There were 34 unique visits per day in 2016 and just 7 per day in 2015 - a 386% increase!
1,829 students registered during the event period in 2016 compared to 960 in 2015 - a 13.75% increase per day!
(182 per day in 2016, 160 per day in 2015)

Results for individual social media channels and website are featured below with corresponding images of the posts.
Lastly, intangible but equally valuable outcomes were PRMs improved collaboration and relationship with CARS and
Records and Registration. They were also open to including Student Engagement on our recommendation and although
we couldnt align events this year, we hope for greater involvement next year. All groups are looking forward to
partnering again next year for even greater results and an enhanced experience for students.

Google Analytics
The Web page www.aacc.edu/recreg/regrally.cfm had a total of 730 pageviews with 343 unique visits from April 13-22.
April 13 with 190 visits and April 19 with 114 visits were the notable spikes. Typically, traffic for this page is in the single
digits.
By comparison, the same Web page last year (May 4-9) had significantly less traffic at 54 pageviews with 47 unique visits
and the highest visits in a single day at 19 on May 6. Certainly the period is much shorter and a different month,

however if you average per day visits this year is 73 and last year is 9 a 711% increase! And if you use unique
visits, this year is 34 and last year is 7 a 386% increase!
