Curriculum Updates

Coming This Week:

Miss Tolbert was gone Monday and Tuesday

this week for a Leader in Me training, so the crew
worked with a substitute and got started with our
weekly vocab words and spelling, as well as doing
a timed math facts test. These tests will be
happening every Tuesday and Thursday from now
on. Students have two minutes to correctly solve
twenty multiplication problems in one fact family
(5s, 2s, 9s, etc.) and cannot move on without
passing off the math fact they are currently
working on. Practicing the flashcards sent home
with the homework will help prepare them for
these quizzes and speed up the math fact
memorization.
This week we introduced the 9s to our math
facts and worked on continuing to build fluency
with those facts, as well as decoding word
problems. In literacy we moved on in the writing
process and many students started publishing
their current writing project.
Our class will be getting special writing
support this year with two lessons a week from
writing specialist Pam Onedera! This is such a
great opportunity and will really help the crew
take their writing to the next level.
The crew got a new class mascot this week, a
pirate parrot they ve decided to name Marlow. J
