My Elected Representatives Evan Raynor

1. President: Barack Obama


Party: Democrat (D)
Terms in Office: 2
President Obama seeks to create jobs for every American who wants to
work. He also focuses on helping small businesses grow so they can help to
strengthen our national economy.
He works to have all students graduate from high school and college to
prepare for a career by allowing American families to be able to afford this
education that is required for jobs. He also works to recruit great educators
to train these students for their part in America.
Obama has increased efforts to create clean energy and energy efficiency to
decrease oil usage. He works to keep air and water clean by reducing
harmful emissions into these ecosystems.

2. Senior US Senator for NC: Richard Burr


Party: Republican (R)
Terms in Office: 2
Burr believes that every American should be able to find a job so they can
provide for their family. The ability of Americans to do this is usually
impeded by the federal government.
Burr wants all Americans to have access to affordable and quality health
care without the federal government controlling the health care plans.
Conservation of natural entities is important to Burr as they contribute to the
flourishing economy of recreation outdoors. These assets are also a part of a
cultural history and are visited by people from everywhere.

3. Junior US Senator for NC: Thom Tillis


Party: Republican (R)
Terms in Office: 1
Tillis believes that government spending is out of control and needs to be
limited. The national debt is a threat to the economy and national security.
Tillis seeks to limit and balance spending and the national budget.
Thom wants an approach to energy that is clean and economically sound,
while also putting America on a course to become energy independent from
other countries.
Agriculture of NC is the states largest industry that plays a big role in the
national economy. Tillis wishes to clear the way for agriculture by getting rid
of federal policies that hinder this industry.

4. US House of Representative for District 13: George Holding

Party: Republican (R)


Terms in Office: 2
George is a strong upholder on the fact that small businesses are what create
many jobs. He believes that the federal government needs to get out of the
way of these businesses so the economy can flourish.
Holding believes that keeping tax money that gets sent back to NC can be
spent more effectively. Schools are great producers of tax dollars and they
can give schools flexibility to spend money how they need to benefit
students and the school in general.
Holding strongly encourages producing clean energy right here in the US.
He wants America to be self-reliant on energy while not polluting the
environment at the same time.

5. Governor of North Carolina: Pat McCrory


Party: Republican (R)
Terms in Office: 1
The governor works to strengthen the economy of NC by putting more
people back to work. He has created an efficient recruitment system based
on the needs of jobs for each part of the state.
McCrory has put a lot of time into strengthening education systems to allow
teachers to give students the skills needed for their career in the future. He
has also allowed the average teacher pay to increase in his term ($50,000+).
McCrory supports an All of the Above energy approach that expands the
energy supply of NC while also lowering costs, keeping reliable sources, and
creating good-paying jobs. This ensures the protection of the environment
that he wants.

6. NC Senator for District 15: John M. Alexander, Jr.

Party: Republican (R)


Terms in Office: 1
John believes that it is wise to spend money on keeping students in school to
let them become the best they can be. He works to recruit the best teachers
and to encourage greater parental interaction with schools.
Alexander believes that health care should become more affordable so that
many more people can obtain health care. He also wants to minimize
medical expenses.
Alexander has stood for the environment by introducing bills that protect
coastal and water resources. Also he has introduced a bill that helps clarify
uses of channels to see how the environment is affected by humans.

7. NC House of Representative for District 40: Marilyn Avila


Party: Republican (R)

Terms in Office: 5
Marilyn believes in the right of all citizens being able to vote. Because of the
importance of this action, she supports the idea of having a picture
identification to be able to vote.
Avila is a great promoter of small businesses that provide services and
products legally. She believes that there need to be no more regulations on
these small businesses.
Marilyn has been involved in fracking to obtain nonrenewable energy
sources. Avila also supports the fact of having nonrenewable energy as an
energy source.

8. County Commissioner for District 6: Betty Lou Ward


Party: Democrat (D)

Terms in Office: 6
Ward believes that transportation is a great issue. Because of the increase of
the population of students in public schools, and the growing cities of NC,
this has become a big issue.
Ward is a member of the Commissioners' Budget, Finance and Education
Committee. This committee aims to create financial education for students
so they can prepare for the future.
She is a member of the National Council on Air Quality Standards. She aims
to keep the air in North Carolina clean and tries to limit the causes of
pollution into the air.

9. City Council Member for District E: Bonner Gaylord


Party: Nonpartisan (N)

Terms in Office: 1
Gaylord believes that a great public education is a great propellant in the
development of the economy. Quality schools help students be able to
contribute to the economy.
Public transportation is a great issue in Gaylords eyes. He works to increase
bus service and to provide another way of revenue by advertising transit
services.
Bonner encourages people to be aware of garbage and waste disposal. He
has increased awareness of the costs that waste and recycling produce, as
well as introduced alternatives to the current method of disposal.

School Board Member for District 3: Kevin L. Hill

Party: Democrat (D)

Terms in Office: 1
Hill works to provide a quality education for all children. As growth
becomes a growing issue, Hill believes that it will be more difficult to do so,
but he is still drives to create a great education system.
Kevin wishes to give students and teachers what they need from what they
lost in the decision making process. He wants to introduce an educator
perspective on this process to identify these needs.
Hill believes in the Wake County economic diversity goal. He is trying to
work hard so the county can more greatly implement the goal into schools.
The size of the community and schools will help with this.
