Dear Mr Williams,

Im sorry for inconveniencing you again, but I honestly think that I am unable to
uphold the rule regarding me to participate in all classes for Modern history. As
much I hoped that I would be able to tolerate such lack of work, I dont believe
that this tolerance will remain next year when exams actually matter. I am aware
that this may result in a class switch for me, but I do ask for you to reconsider an
alternative where I am able to work at my own pace within the classroom without
disturbing others or the teacher. This does not mean that I completely disengage
from the classroom, but it does suggest that I have the liberty to remain
productive if the class fails to do so. If this is not possible, I will then suggest a
class switch in order for me to maximise my learning.
Even though it has come to my attention that you and Miss Zinkin are indeed
good friends/colleagues, I hope that this arrangement can remain as professional
as possible in order to minimise any bias. Regardless of what your opinion of me
may be, I assure you that I am not inconsiderate when it comes to what I see as
valuable within a classroom, and I still do intend on cooperating whenever
possible. But over the past term or so, it has come to my attention that I am very
conflicted on what my teacher considers work and I dont wish to be
unproductive every day for 45 minutes.
Despite History being a ridiculously assessed subject revolving around simply
memorising facts and events having a heavy emphasis on self study- I still
cherish my education at this school and intend to actually enjoy and expand my
knowledge on the subject; things I wont be able to achieve if I am obliged to
engage in every redundant and inefficient activity that has concurred. I do
believe that giving me this liberty within the classroom will be the most
convenient and appropriate option for the both of us, because even though I am
only a student, my education is fundamentally in my control and I do not want to
have this stripped away from me for the sake of remaining in a Physics
classroom.
Im sorry if I seem aggressive in this email, but I do plead you to genuinely take
into consideration what Ive had to say. I truly want to remain in my Physics
class, but if worse comes to worst and a class switch is inevitable, I will
understand and will not dispute it.
