Algebra II and Pre-Calculus Teacher
September 2016
Dear Families,
My name is Nicole Kleinmann and I am very excited to work with your student this year
in Algebra II or Pre-Calculus!
I graduated from Boston College with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Secondary
Education. I am from Durham, NH and have grown up visiting the Boston area
frequently. Through my four student teaching experiences during my Undergraduate
career at Boston College: at Brighton High School, Waltham High School in 2015,
Dedham Middle School, and Waltham High School from January May 2016, I have
discovered my passion for teaching. For the past two months, I taught Math in an all
boys High School in Melbourne, Australia. Through collaboration and a variety of class
activities and assessment methods, we will create a classroom culture that promotes
perseverance, determination, questioning, and respect for all learners.
Waltham has a strong community, one that I am proud to now be a part of. At the high
school, students and teachers work closely together to foster these beliefs and values. In
the following weeks and throughout the year, we will work on challenging material to
improve problem solving and analytical skills, which are necessary skills to be life long
learners.
I am looking forward to working with your student and please do not hesitate to contact
me if you have any questions or concerns about your students academic process.
Please feel free to contact me at the email address found above or through the PlusPortals
with any questions. Looking forward to meeting you.

Classroom Management Plan for Room 262

Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something ~Unknown
Students will often collaborate with peers in their class to practice new material and to
explore the new Math topics. During the first week, students and I will create a
classroom management chart specific to each class. These are my expectations for the
year:
Classroom Core Values: Respect, Perseverance, Engagement, and Questioning
Class Preparation: In order to be active learners in class, students should come to class
ready to collaborate with peers, ask questions, and engage in new material and class
discussions. *Materials for class: folder to put class-work in, notebook for extra notes
*Students should be on time and ready to learn
Class Participation: Positive attitude and determination are contagious. In order to be
engaged in class, students should try every problem, ask questions when confused, and
not be afraid to make a mistake and learn from it!
Homework: Homework will be assigned once a week depending on the progress of classwork. If you are out for any reason, make sure to come see me for the missing
classwork/homework.
Tests and Quizzes: Tests and quizzes are given at the end of each unit. Most quizzes and
tests will be individual, but some quizzes will be group quizzes, which will be
described in more detail in following weeks.
Extra Help: After school, before school, or during free periods. I am available most days
and hope students will not hesitate to receive extra help! Come see me to schedule a
time.
Please sign the front side of the paper (on the side of the welcome letter) to acknowledge
that you have received the welcome letter and classroom management plan and have the
bottom portion of the letter returned to me by Thursday, September 1st.
Thank you!
Ms. Nicole Kleinmann
