Binder Info - Parents
Dear Parents/Guardians, This year in 4th grade we are using binders to help build student organization and to serve as a communication tool between students, teacher, and parents/guardians. Students must bring their binder to and from school every day. Student binders will store multiple sections such as: do nows, interactive journal, important information, data tracking, and binder logs. This binder will be checked frequently in class and occasionally randomly for a work habits grade. The binder must be reviewed by a parent or guardian on a weekly basis. Signing the log will indicate that the parents has reviewed the organization of the binder, student data, and graded work being sent home. A rubric and binder contract is coming home with students to be reviewed and be signed by a parent or guardian. A copy of the contract and rubric will be stored in the students important information section of their binder. In addition to this, information about classroom policies, routines, procedures, and math rotations will also be in this section. Each section of the binder will be created with a sheet protector tab with directions and/or information about the section on it. Students will be in charge of keeping their binder organized, checking with the teacher that all required information is in their binder, and for maintaining accurate records of information in their binders. Students will be charting test information and creating information about their progress to share with their parents using the binder. All graded work will go home in the student binders on Fridays. Homework logs will be used by students to track complete and incomplete homework to share with parents. Additional resources may be added throughout the year and for individual students on an as-need basis. If you have any questions regarding the binder, its components, or the rubric feel free to contact me on class dojo or via e-mail at jennifer.callaway@pgcps.org. Sincerely, Jennifer Callaway
