Ms.

Hendryxs Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that there is a connection between reading and writing. My
goal is to help my students understand the intimate connection
between the two. I believe that exposing students to a variety of forms,
mechanics, styles, and genres they will be able to analyze, research,
improve their writing and navigation through various text, media,
poetry and writing examples. To not only meet the common core
expectations but to expand the students into global thinkers, doers and
learners.
This is the value of the teacher, who looks at a face and says there's
something behind that and I want to reach that person, I want to
influence that person, I want to encourage that person, I want to
enrich, I want to call out that person who is behind that face, behind
that color, behind that language, behind that tradition, behind that
culture. I believe you can do it. I know what was done for me.

My teaching philosophy is that my goal is that every student that walks
into my classroom is a valuable, intricate member, teacher, student
and support in the class. Every student is responsible for learning,
teaching, supporting and listening to his or her teacher and fellow
peers. Both the teacher and their peers will treat everyone in the
classroom with respect. We honor all ideas, thoughts, projects,
questions, and writings even if we dont agree with them. We allow our
classmates the freedom to share without judgment, prejudice or
malice. The classroom is a safe environment, what is shared in class is
confidential and is to not be repeated outside the class, unless the
information might cause harm to themselves or others.
Every member of the class is required to try to the best of their ability.
Both the teacher and student understand that every student learns,
writes, works differently and respects that. As long as the student is
working to the best of their ability, turning in their work on time and
participating in class the student will not fail.
I believe that every student will work away from my classroom with
knowledge of the relationship of reading and writing. The many forms
it is used in from writing essays for classwork to writing technical
manuals to put together a bookshelf. Through analyzing literature,
forming their writing styles the student will leave with a broader
knowledge of the English language and how that knowledge can
benefit them.
