Architecture
As depicted in the block diagram, the host communicates
with the DD-82101F via a dedicated driver. The driver uses
I2O and DMA for fast data transfers between the host and
the DD-82101F. The on-board CPU runs the AFDX protocol
stack as well as controlling the FPGA which off-loads the
CPU by handling Tx scheduling and error injection/
detection. The receive and transmit buffers may be
configured to operate as either sampling ports or queuing
ports. A sampling port utilizes a single message buffer while
a queuing port contains storage for multiple messages in a
FIFO configuration.
