Radici ben ancorate alla tradizione afgana, spirito cosmopolita per guardare il mondo con curiosit, passione e amore per la bellezza e le sue infinite declinazioni, unite alla vocazione di trasmettere la cultura della
propria gente e la memoria del tappeto tradizionale: la
storia della famiglia Amini un percorso fatto di contaminazioni e influenze diverse, una strada costellata da conquiste faticose, un racconto entusiasmante
che narra le vicende di uomini coraggiosi. Tutto inizia
tra Herat e Kabul nel 1962, quando Sultan Amini fonda
la Amini Brothers Company (ABC) con la quale, grazie
a una fittissima rete di collaborazioni con artigiani locali, produce e commercializza tappeti locali. Da questi
villaggi sperduti e difficilmente raggiungibili nascono
creazioni uniche e inimitabili che Amini vuole portare
anche in Europa. Nel 1975 ABC una realt consolidata e pu disporre di un centro logistico moderno e
funzionale, ma nel 1978 i russi invadono lAfghanistan e
Sultan Amini deve decidere tra la famiglia e ci che ha
faticosamente costruito. La situazione insostenibile e
il trasferimento in Germania necessario. Grazie ai contatti costruiti nel tempo e alla credibilit consolidata a
Francoforte trova terreno fertile per ripartire e tornare
a credere nel suo progetto. Oggi ABC ha costruito la
propria identit e si propone come punto di riferimento per importanti aziende, per i marchi pi prestigiosi
della moda, per strutture ricettive e hotel di alto livello che mostrano la qualit nellarredo delle loro stanze. La divisione Amini nasce proprio da questa nuova
esigenza; un progetto basato sulla volont di proporre
una selezione di tappeti evoluta, in sintonia con una
dimensione contemporanea dellinterior design. Amini
una realt unica, perch basata su una filosofia ispirata alla ricerca della qualit a ogni livello e animata da
una passione che ha radici lontane. Un nuovo progetto
nel solco della tradizione, una sfida cos importante da
trasformare in brand il nome di famiglia.

Strong roots in the Afghan traditions, a cosmopolitan

inquisitive view of the world, passion and love for beauty
in all its forms, together with a calling to transmit the
culture of their people and the recollections of traditional
carpets: the history of the Amini family is filled with
different inspirations and influences, a path studded
with hard-won achievements, an exciting tale that
tells the story of brave men. It all started back in 1962
between Herat and Kabul when Sultan Amini founded
Amini Brothers Company (ABC) to produce and sell
local carpets, thanks to an extensive network of local
craftsmen. These remote and off-the-track villages
create unique, inimitable manufacts that Amini then
brought to Europe. By 1975, ABC was a solid company
with a modern logistics centre, but then in 1978 the
Russians invaded Afghanistan and Sultan Amini had
to choose between his family and the business he had
painstakingly built up. The situation was untenable
and a move to Germany became necessary. Thanks to
his contacts built up over the years and his standing
in Frankfurt, Amini found fertile ground to start again
and rediscover his faith in his project. Today, ABC has its
own identity and is a lodestone for major companies,
famous fashion houses, reception centres and luxurious
hotels featuring quality furnishings in their rooms. The
Amini division was set up precisely to meet this new
requirement; a project to propose next generation
carpets, attuned to the contemporary lines of interior
design. Amini is unique thanks to its philosophy of the
pursuit of quality at every level, infused with a passion
with far-off roots. A new project from the heart of
tradition, an important undertaking to transform the
family name into a brand name.

articolata e capillare e ad aprire nel 1988 la sede italiana, proponendosi sul mercato con una propria identit. Oggi lazienda pu offrire una gamma di tappeti
davvero unica e di altissima qualit, a cui affianca un
servizio preciso e puntuale in tutte le fasi del pre e post
vendita. Esperienza e conoscenza consentono anche
alla nuova divisione Amini di interpretare le specifiche
esigenze del cliente, mentre organizzazione e flessibilit gestionale assicurano tempestivit e consegne in
tempi rapidi. Una serie di plus che le hanno permesso di
ottenere ottimi risultati, un successo che non fa dimenticare ad Amini le proprie origini, i luoghi di produzione
da cui tutto ha avuto inizio. Afghanistan, Nepal, Persia,

ABCs arrival in Europe marked the beginning of its

continuous growth, leading to development of a
widespread distribution network and the opening of an
Italian office in 1988, entering the market under its own
name. The company currently offers a unique range of
very high quality carpets with an excellent pre and postsales service. The new Amini division can draw on ABCs
experience and knowledge to interpret customers
specific requirements while its organisation and
operating flexibility ensure prompt and fast deliveries.
These strengths that have led to excellent results, a
success story that does not mean Amini forgets its
roots, those villages where it all took off. The carpets
still arrive today from Afghanistan, Nepal, Persia, India,
Morocco and Turkey where that ancient culture lives on
and produces those masterpieces that grace homes
all over the world. Amini is poised to become a major
international partner in the design world, exporting
carpets to America, Europe, the East and all those

dallimmagine e dal decoro molto complesso o a tinta unita monocolore, tappeti dalla forte consistenza
o al contrario leggeri e delicati, tappeti per interni ma
anche per loutdoor. Ciascuno pu trovare il suo stile,
la propria personalit, soddisfare le proprie esigenze
estetiche ma anche gli aspetti funzionali. Amini in
grado di personalizzare ogni tappeto sviluppando soluzioni ad hoc per ogni progetto. Oltre alle dimensioni su

Integrazione sicuramente uno dei termini preferiti da

Ferid Amini, oggi responsabile della divisione Amini, ed
uno dei valori da sempre tramandati dalla sua famiglia. Declinato nei suoi significati si traduce per lazienda nellincontro di diverse culture, paesi dorigine,
esperienze, capacit, in un mix di stili, di arti, di manifestazioni della creativit. Amini unazienda che
promuove il dialogo fra le competenze, la compenetrazione di immagini e atmosfere provenienti da mondi
lontani, sia dal punto di vista geografico, sia da quello
delle discipline coinvolte. Ecco perch il mondo dellarte, che da sempre ha espresso attenzione e sensibilit
nei confronti del tappeto, oggi uno dei riferimenti pi
importanti per lazienda. Perch larte che anticipa le
tendenze (Zeitgeist), con la pittura che si esprimono al

Integration is surely one of the favourite words of Ferid

Amini, the current head of the Amini division, and a value
passed down in his family from generation to generation.
In every sense of the word, integration, symbolises
for the company the union of different cultures,
countries, experiences, skills in a mix of styles, art and
creativity. Amini promotes the merger of expertise, the
permeation of images and atmospheres from distant
worlds, both in geographical terms and in the sense of

Il contatto con larchivio Ponti stato il passo naturale

di un percorso intrapreso da chi crede in un progetto
e vuole andare fino in fondo, da unazienda che non
si ferma ai primi ostacoli ma vuole scardinare i luoghi
comuni ed disposta ad affrontare con tenacia ed entusiasmo sfide difficili. Amini ha messo a disposizione
la sua esperienza e la sua biblioteca infinita di colori,
trame e decori. Dallarchivio Ponti sono emersi disegni
straordinari, riferimenti ad opere architettoniche ma
anche dettagli inediti, quasi sconosciuti. Un incontro
tra la creativit di un maestro e la sapienza di unazienda, tra bellezza e materia, tra idea e realizzazione. Il
lavoro stato lungo e complesso ma alla fine ne nata
una collezione elengante e raffinata, una serie di opere
darte moderne, tappeti contemporanei che giocano
su tratti leggeri o pi evidenti, su contrasti sfumati o
spunti di colore molto accesi, su geometrie semplici e
accostamenti ricercati che trasmettono tridimensionalit e profondit al tappeto. Capolavori in lana tibetana e seta naturale, complementi che portano nelle case unarmonia e un senso della misura che nasce
dallequilibrio tra disegno, forma e colore.
Ferid Amini non nasconde la sua stima nei confronti del
maestro milanese, per colui che ha segnato con uno
stile sobrio ma elegante il design del Novecento, che ha
saputo passare con classe e competenza tutti gli ambiti della creativit e che ha saputo calarsi a qualsiasi scala del progetto. Una passione viscerale per Ponti
designer, architetto, direttore di rivista, pittore e poeta,
una volont di accostarsi ad alcuni frammenti della sua
straordinaria capacit progettuale, con lumilt dello
studioso ma anche con lambizione di poterla reinterpretare attraverso tappeti unici e dai disegni inimitabili.

Investigation of the Ponti archives was an obvious part of

the path followed by anyone who believes in a project and
intends to see it through, for a company that does not
falter at the first obstacle but intends to flout tradition and
intends to take on seemingly unsurmountable challenges
with tenacity and enthusiasm. Amini has drawn on its
experience and its infinite library of colours, textures and
patterns while the Ponti archives offered up extraordinary
designs, references to architectonic works and also
almost unknown unpublished details. An extraordinary
meeting of beauty and materials, ideas and results,
bringing together a masters creativity and a companys
skill. The project was long and arduous but has resulted
in an extraordinarily elegant and refined collection, a
number of modern works of art, contemporary carpets
with a play on lighter and darker segments, blurred
contrasts or bright hues, simple geometrical forms and
contrived combinations that give a three-dimensional
depth to the carpets. Masterpieces in Tibetan wool and
natural silk, these carpets introduce harmony to the
home and a sense of proportion that comes from the
balance between design, shape and colour.
Ferid Amini is open about his respect for the Milanese
master, the person who epitomised design in the
twentieth century with an elegant, sophisticated style,
moving from one creative environment to another with
class and skill, equally at home designing a spoon or a city.
A true passion for Ponti, designer, architect, magazine
editor, painter and poet, with a willingness to approach a
few fragments of his extraordinary design skills with the
humility of a student but with the ambition to reinterpret
it in unique carpets of inimitable designs.

Triangolo, cerchio, esagono, linea continua o spezzata,

intreccio, sfumature, pennellate libere. Sono alcune delle geometrie e dei motivi grafici che caratterizzano la
collezione Gio Ponti. Soluzioni che giocano sul delicato
equilibrio tra i colori, sulle forme slanciate, sullimportanza del segno che descrive la superficie. La sequenza
di triangoli che diventano rombi, poi quadrati e ancora
rettangoli dai colori delicati e dalle forme slanciate impreziosite da accenti di colore descrivono Diamantina,
la decorazione che richiama le piastrelle in ceramica
diamantate pi volte utilizzate nelle opere architettoniche. Una linea marcata, spessa ed evidente, origina
invece Labirinto, in cui simmetria del disegno e contrasto tra sfondo e tratto conferiscono profondit ed effetto rilievo al tappeto. Le semisfere e il gioco di luci e
ombre e pieni e vuoti sono il tratto distintivo di Sole e
Luna mentre in Riflessi le forme si fanno pi libere e dinamiche, come a formare un collage di pezzi, un gioco
di campiture che si specchiano irregolarmente sulla superficie. La scacchiera invece la base di Sorrento che
rimanda al lavoro sviluppato con la ceramica di Vietri
per i pavimenti dellHotel Parco dei Principi. Lesagono
la figura geometrica propria dello stile di Ponti tornato
oggi di grande attualit, regola lo sviluppo di Esagoni
mentre Taranto rimanda alla vela traforata che decora la cattedrale progettata nellomonima citt. Infine
la maglia regolare di Incroci e le pennellate libere di
Lettera Disegnata che indaga i disegni e le scritte contenuti nelle lettere che il maestro amava mandare a
colleghi e amici. Ogni decoro trova nel colore il mezzo attraverso il quale esprimersi al meglio, ogni cromia
viene esaltata dai tratti e dalla forma del disegno: Amini rinnova quotidianamente nel binomio segno-colore
la formula magica per tappeti dautore.

Triangles, circles, hexagons, solid or broken lines, knots,

shades, free brushstrokes. These are some of the
geometries and patterns of the Gio Ponti collection.
Articles that play on the delicate balance between
colours, elongated forms, the importance of the form
characterising the surface. A sequence of triangles
that become rhombuses, squares and then rectangles
of delicate hues and slender forms embellished by
dashes of colour: Diamantina, the decoration that
recalls the diamond-shaped ceramic tiles used often in
architectonic works. A thick and obvious marked line is
used for Labirinto, where the symmetrical design and
contrasts between the background and weave give the
carpet depth and relief. The semi-circles and play of
light and shadow, full and empty characterise the Sole
and Luna while the shapes are free and more dynamic in
Riflessi, creating a collage, a play of backgrounds that
are reflected unevenly on the surface. A chessboard
is the backdrop for Sorrento which recalls the project
developed with Vietri ceramic tiles for the floors of Hotel
Parco dei Principi. The characteristic hexagon shape of
Pontis style, once again very fashionable, is used for
the Esagoni carpet while the Taranto model references
the perforated sail that decorates the cathedral
designed in the city of the same name. Finally, the
regular weave of Incroci and the free strokes of Lettera
Disegnata that investigate the designs and writings in
the letters that the master loved to send his colleagues
and friends. Each decoration is presented at its best
through the choice of the ideal colour, each shade is
enhanced by the traits and the shape of the drawing:
Amini renews the magic formula for master carpets on
a daily basis with its sign-colour binomial.

The Amini collection is characterised by different

products depending on their style, production method
and materials used. Traditional or modern, its carpets
can be used for a multitude of purposes thanks to their
technical and design versatility. They include Tibetan or
monochrome, vintage or eastern traditional carpets,
100% natural or produced specifically for outdoor use
allowing each customer to find exactly the right match.
This vast range, and the possibility to customise, is
important for designers, architects or interior designers
who can rely on the company for expert advice and
the satisfaction of all possible requests for the carpet
to become one of the key players of the design, a
fundamental element in the definition of the ambiences
character. Indeed, the infinite palette of colours and

che avevo visto in altri loro progetti. Molte volte nei nostri tappeti il colore pi importante del decoro perch

cos lapproccio al duo di architetti olandesi da parte
dellazienda nel 2014, finalizzato ad avviare una collaborazione per un progetto legato al mondo del tappeto. Proprio la grande attenzione al tema del colore,
da sempre indagato dai designer nella loro attivit, ha
permesso di trovare fin da subito una sintonia profonda con Amini. Si scelto pertanto di proporre un solo
decoro lasciando al colore il ruolo di vero protagonista.
Nepal Blend una collezione estremamente raffinata, nella quale il motivo a bolle trova nella suddivisione grafica dei piani e nella delicata sovrapposizione di
cromie il giusto modo di esprimersi al meglio. Un gioco
di equilibri in cui forme e sfumature conferiscono profondit al disegno; tre proposte cromatiche che permettono di far vibrare la superficie del tappeto.

I have always admired the emphasis on craftsmanship

and tradition of Scholten & Baijings and especially
their unique approach to the use of colour and ability
to create the delicate balance of perfect hues that I
have seen in their other projects. Colour is very often
the most important feature of our carpets because
only that particular hue or elegant combination or
balanced combination of tones is able to express our
ideas and dreams in unique products, Ferid Amini thus
describes the companys approach to the two Dutch
architects in 2014, initiating a partnership for a carpet
project. Thanks to their focus on colour, the designers
have immediately found themselves in tune with Amini.
They agreed to use just one design allowing colour to be
the main player. Nepal Blend is an extremely elegant
collection, with a bubble motif shown off to its best
through the graphic division of the carpet sections
and the delicate overlay of colours. A balancing act
in which shapes and shades give depth to the design;
three colour options that give the carpet vibrancy.

Leleganza formale il tratto distintivo dello stile di

Carlo Colombo, a cui associa la capacit unica di lavorare con materiali diversi interpretandone lidentit
pi vera per cercare di estrarre da ciascuno di essi i
valori pi profondi e le potenzialit pi nascoste. Uno
stile che gli ha permesso di sviluppare progetti con i
pi importanti brand del design e dellarredo made
in Italy e che anche con Amini si esprime attraverso
lattenzione al materiale e alla poetica del fare che
propria dellazienda. Ne nascono motivi e grafiche diverse che danno vita a tre collezioni per cinque modelli
complessivi, diversi per carattere e personalit. CC1
una proposta pixelata nella quale leffetto tridimensionale determinato dalla grandezza dei punti e dalla loro vicinanza o rarefazione. Il motivo geometrico
del triangolo caratterizza invece CC2, il tappeto il cui
decoro definito dallaccostamento di pi elementi a
formare nuove configurazioni dalla disposizione apparentemente casuale. Pi legate al mondo optical le
tre proposte della collezione Carlo Colombo che propongono effetti grafici molto diversi: dalle linee curve
dalleffetto pop alle sfere che sembrano scavare buche
da golf sulla superficie, fino ai tratti netti e decisi di
forme geometriche trapezoidali che si susseguono e si
specchiano per tutto lo sviluppo del tappeto.

Carlo Colombos style is distinguished by formal

elegance, together with his unique ability to work with
different materials extrapolating from each one their
most significant values and hidden potential to create
a new identity. Thanks to this characteristic, he has
worked with the major design and furniture companies
in Italy. His relationship with Amini is based on focus
on the materials and the poetry of creation shared
with the company. Their collaboration has resulted in
three collections of five models, different in character
and personality. CC1 is a pixelated model, where
the three-dimensional effect is created by the size of
the stitches and their proximity or intermittence. The
geometric pattern of the triangle characterises CC2,
a carpet with a pattern defined by the combination
of various elements to create new seemingly random
configurations. The three models of the Carlo Colombo
collection have a more optical base, with very differing
graphical effects: curved lines with pop effect and
spheres that seem to dig golf holes in the surface, sharp
lines of trapezoidal geometric shapes that follow one
another and reflect each other throughout the carpet.

Lana, lino, seta, pelle e molti altri materiali di primissima qualit assolutamente naturali che vengono
reperiti direttamente in loco attraverso una selezione attenta dei fornitori in base alle diverse tipologie
di prodotto. Tutta la ricchezza di Amini nasce da qui,
perch la qualit finale del tappeto ha origine proprio
nella materia prima, nella sapienza dei tosatori, nella
capacit di cogliere il momento giusto, di individuare le migliori greggi di pecore. La creativit passa poi
dallesperienza di uomini che traducono con sapienza
lidea in un disegno, in uno schema preciso per la realizzazione del tappeto, codificando materiali, colori,
tipologia di annodatura e tutto quanto serve alla preparazione del telaio. Leccellenza passa attraverso le
mani di tessitori che tramandano il sapere attraverso le generazioni, capaci di ottenere il meglio da ogni
fibra. Lestetica finale del tappeto deriva dallinfinita
pazienza di chi si occupa del lavaggio e della rifinitura della superficie, per eliminare materiale in eccesso,
parificando il vello e lo spessore, facendo esaltare cromie e contrasti. Oggi Amini pu contare su una qualit

completely natural materials that are sourced directly
on site through a careful selection of suppliers depending
on the product type. This is the base of Aminis treasure
chest, as the end quality of its carpets depends on its
raw materials, the shearers expertise, the ability to pick
the right moment and identify the best sheep herd.

ideas into designs, a precise pattern to produce the
carpets, codifying materials, colours, types of knots
and all those details necessary to prepare the looms.

the persons involved in the washing and the finishing
