ANC5E Resolution for the G2 Bus Zone Restoration On Thursday, August 18, Ms. Belton reports
that the G2 Howard University/LeDroit Park bus line stop at Second and Bryant Street was observed by
her around 8PM. She and many others thank all parties for the open, honest and ongoing that made the
restoration of the bus stop available for all residents traveling that line. Ms. Belton states that is a
wonderful sign that people can resolve their difference in a peaceful matter. Thanks to Ms. Belton for her
persistency; many thanks to Ann Chisholm [achisholm@wmata.com and DDOT staffers - Mr. Sean Egan
[sean.egan2@dc.gov] and Ms. Spring Worth [spring.worth@dc.gov] for their assistance in helping this
effort to move forward. Note: If you use the G2 Bus and have a need to depart or broad the bus whereas
the driver does not allow you to do so at 2nd and Bryant St, NW, please let me know. DDOT must be
informed of this issue.
The ABRA request from the Capitol Market for Substantial Class A Change was denied by the
Broad.
The First Street Tunnel Project - Part of DC Waters Clean Rivers Initiative and is designed to control
combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to the Anacostia River and mitigate flooding in the Northeast
Boundary area which includes the Bloomingdale and LeDroit Park neighborhoods. DC Waters First

Solicitation from the Solar Co-op Group continues for home owners interested in installing solar
panels. The Council passed an amendment to the RPS Bill, which means: now is a great time to go solar

in DC to join a Solar Co-op Group.
Wednesday, September 7th, 5th District Community Justice Advisory Network (CJAN) Meeting is held
from 6:30pm 8:30pm every 1st Wednesday of each month at CSOSAs 5th District Field Site at 910
Rhode Island Ave, NE, 2nd Floor. This CJAN will highlight the DC Safe Surrender 2016 Program. Trina
Stewart, in collaboration with the CSOSAs Community Supervision Services Warrant Unit, will host a
CJAN designed to showcase the Who? What? When? Why? on the DC Safe Surrender Program. Each

Thursday, September 8th, McMillan Advisory Group (MAG) will meet at the Summit Apts, 116 T St NE,
2nd floor from 7PM 9PM. MAG meets every 2nd Thursday of each month. The main item on the agenda
for this meeting is the Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by DGS for a firm to do demolition and
infrastructure development for the McMillan project. A DMPED representative will come to answer
questions about the RFP for a firm to do the demolition and infrastructure development for the McMillan
project. The RFP was issued by the Department of General Services (DGS) (see the actual RFP at
http://dgs.dc.gov/node/1184465). This is an opportunity for the community to discuss construction
mitigation concerns BEFORE a firm has been selected for the RFP.

Saturday, September 10th, Family Water Festival/Water fun for everyone! 11am 3pm. The festival
will take place at 301 Bryant Street NW (Pumping Station). Enjoy lots of family-friendly activities,
including face painters, balloon artists, and a photo opportunity with Wendy the Water Drop. Its All
Free. DC Water extends a special invitation to residents in the Bloomingdale and LeDroit Park
neighborhoods. This event will commemorate the near completion of the First Street Tunnel, a critical
step forward in the effort to alleviate flooding in these areas. Please contact events@dcwater.com to

Monday, September 12th, Stronghold Civic Association (SCA) meets at the Inspired Teaching Charter
School (200 Douglas St NE) from 7PM 9PM. SCA meets every 1st Monday of each month.
Monday, September 19th, Bloomingdale Civic Association (BCA) meets at St Georges Episcopal Church
(2nd and U Streets NW) from 7PM 9PM. BCA meets every 3rd Monday of the month but if a holiday

AVOID A SANITATION TICKET: Help keep Ward 5 Clean - Make the Call to 311
Regular Trash Collection: Place trash and recycle containers out for collection no earlier than
6:30 PM the night before - no later than 6 AM the morning of collection day. Residents are
required to remove trash and recycle containers from public space (the alley) by 8 PM on your
collection day.
Bulk Trash Collection: Call 311 to set up an appointment before placing bulk trash out (7 items) for
collection. Place bulk trash out no earlier than 6:30PM the day before and no later than 6 AM on
collection day. Place them where the trash and recycle are collected.
Without appointment: Take bulk items to the Fort Totten Transfer Station, 4900 John F. McCormack
Drive NE. Other City Services include abandoned autos, alley cleaning, illegal dumping, parking
enforcement, potholes, trees, & street lights. The rep will provide a tracking # of your request.
Yard Cleaning and Grass Cutting: Residents are responsible for the up keep of the area abutting the
front and back of their homes. This may include front and back yards, sidewalk and alley abutting your
home. Fines may occur from the city if DPW or other agencies have to come out to accommodate this
request.
