Weekly Bulletin

2016/17
Week 1: Monday 5th
September

Theme: Planning

A. What went well over the holiday

Alston / Nenthead

Samuel Kings

Redecoration at Nenthead now well underway. Grass given a

good stim. The stream past the front door and remaining repairs
to the outdoor play equipment are all being tackled.
Good reorganisation of classrooms at Alston. Pre School moved
in and ready for action. Repairs to outdoor play on-going.
Preparations for new Childrens Centre on-going.
Good take-up for last weeks First Aid courses. Good atmosphere
in other sessions.

Exam results significantly improved on last year. Governors

have met to review them. If our calculations are correct, and it
is an if at this stage, our place in Cumbrias Progress 8 table
should be well within the top half.
Soft Play equipment moved over from the Town Hall. First
session took place for parents and toddlers last Wednesday.
Good take-up for last weeks First Aid course. Good atmosphere,
focus and purpose in other sessions. Good stuff from FB on
critical thinking.

From ST:
Tutor time this week is numeracy. Information available from LC.
Important to start this week as we mean to go on. Set your expectations high. Well be around so
use us to reinforce as required.
We need your confirmation that you have read and understood the terms of the Safeguarding Policy
by the end of the week please.
From LC:
Some key things to keep in mind this week -start as you mean to go on, homework, seating plans,
behaviour, uniform expectations etc
Differentiation is a key element to all aspects of your lesson given the range of ages / abilities in our
classrooms.
Make an effort to bring critical thinking into your lessons.
Some students find the return to routine more difficult than others; please keep us informed if a
student appears to be struggling.
