IBPS Clerk VI Online Registration process will begin from 22nd August 2016. As
per the notification, there were around 19, 243 vacancies across various states
for 2017 18 recruitment. The Clerk vacancies are based on State wise. If you are
selected as a Clerk, your training will be conducted in the same state by the allotted
bank and will be posted in branches of the bank across any district of the same
state. So, before filling the application form you should have complete information
about the total number of vacancies in various states & in participating banks.
Selection Process The selection will be based on two phases
1. Prelims Exam The candidates have to qualify both sectional & overall cutoff
of the prelims exam to get a call for next phase. Marks obtained in the prelims
exam will not be considered for final merit list.
2. Mains Exam The final selection of the candidates totally depends on the
marks obtained in the Mains Exams. Each candidate has to qualify both sectional &
overall cutoff of the Mains exam. If candidates clear the final merit list he/she will
be considered for the further process. The cutoff will be decided on the total
number of vacancies in different states.
During online registration, you have to fill the preference order of the 19
Nationalized Banks, and to decide which bank to fill on the first order is an
important factor. In this article, we will help you to choose the right bank in your
preference order of the banks.

Here we are putting some important suggestions to help you to make your
preference list which will clear out your confusion and you can select your most
preferable banks.
1. Willingness to work in your home state:
As IBPS Clerk is a state level job, and if you wish to work in your home state, so try
to give preference of those banks first which have maximum branches in your
state. After selection, your training will be conducted in the same state by the
allotted bank and you will be absorbed in the bank as Clerk. You will be posted in
any bank branch across any district of the same state.
For example: If you wish to apply from Bihar, so after the selection, you will be
posted in any branch of the allotted bank in any city or district of the Bihar state.
2. Should have proficiency in local or official language of the state?
It is important to note that IBPS Clerk exam is of state level exam and you have to
choose the particular state to apply from. As per the notification, you need to have
a proficiency of the local or official language of the State/UT from where you are
wishing to apply for clerical cadre post.
Proficiency of language means: You should know how to read/ write and
speak the Official Language of the State/UT.
For example: If you have Proficiency in Hindi language, then you can apply
from different states also, rather than to apply only from home state only. It is not
necessary to show the domicile of the particular state.

Bihar, Delhi, Chattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya
Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand.
Note: Some questions may be put at the time of Language Proficiency test to
ascertain the candidates familiarity with the Official Language of the State/UT.
3. Bank Ranking
A good bank ranking has better chances of career growth and exposure for its
employees. For a post in the top ranking banks, it is essential to secure a position
among the top in the examination.

You can also choose a bank if you dream to be a part of bank. Most of the PSU
Banks (under IBPS) offer similar kind of salary structure and also follow a similar
kind of promotion policy. So, which bank is good for you, you have to do little
research for your dream bank and you can give it preference than others.
At last before making your final list keep in your mind that after final selection you
have to serve the particular bank for at least 30 years or more, so its better to do
little homework on your own to choose the best banks for you.
