From the Griffith College Academic Integrity Policy:

Throughout the duration of their studies at the College, students are
expected to conduct themselves in an honest and ethical manner, and in
accordance with accepted standards of academic conduct. Forms of
behaviour contrary to these standards are understood to be academic
misconduct. Where a student is found to have breached standards of
academic conduct they may be subject to penalties.

Scenario 1:
Student X was writing an essay on topic Y. The student decided to try to find
information on this topic by searching via Google. The first item that appeared in
the list of results was an article from Wikipedia. While writing the essay Student
X copied and pasted paragraphs from the Wikipedia article into the essay without
using quotations.

Scenario 2:
In a previous semester, Student X studied Course XYZ but unfortunately
failed the course. When the student repeated the course the assignment
topic was similar (but not exactly the same). The student decided to re-use
about 80% of the previous assignment and submitted to Turn it in.* The
Originality Report showed an extremely high match to the students
previous essay.
*this is known as self-plagiarism

Scenario 3:
In Course XYZ it was a course requirement to attend and review a drama
performance. Tickets were expensive so a group of 4 students got together
and decided that only one of them would attend the performance and then
would report back to the group about the drama performance. Each
member of the group then wrote and submitted the reviews as their own
work.

Why did the students choose this action? Did these students
demonstrate academic integrity?

Scenario 4:
Course XYZ has a 30% essay. Although students are encouraged to discuss
ideas with other students the essay is meant to be completed
independently. Student X was writing the essay and was running short on
time. The student had been re-wording some ideas from some journal
articles and included this information in the essay. The student did not cite
the sources in the essay as the student forgot to record the source details.
The student also sent the essay to a friend who had asked for help.

What are the important issues in this case? Did student X

demonstrate academic integrity?
