Description
Financial Management deals with the meaning of companys financial figures in comparison
with the returns of the business by looking at the changes in the balance sheet accounts
particularly the current assets and current liabilities to predict future cash flow problems. This
course covers the analysis and interpretation of financial statements to assess business performance
and, identify information weaknesses in the financial statements. It includes understanding the role
of finance function in the organization and the financial management tools and techniques used.

Objectives
At the end of the course, the student is expected to:
1. Understand and appreciate the role and functions of the Financial Manager within the Firm.
2. Know the techniques of financial statement ratios and analyses.
3. Know and apply the steps in the statement of cash flows and the financial forecasting
(budgeting) using the pro-forma financial statements.
4. Know the tools and techniques in the management of current assets and current liabilities.
5. Discuss the sources of short-term and long-term funds.
6. Understand the nature, advantages and disadvantages of debt financing and equity
financing.
