Imagine living a life of deception and murder. A place where you can't even trust
your family because of their selfishness and greed. This time and place did in fact
exist. A girl with the name of Cleopatra ruled over Egypt and even influenced Rome.
Cleopatra was said to be born 69 years BC in Alexandria rome along with her
siblings Ptolemy XIII, Ptolemy XIV, Arsinoe IV and Berenice IV. Cleopatra's parents
are most likely to have been siblings because of their common custom of incest to
keep the bloodline "pure."
Cleopatra's family, the Ptolemaic dynasty, started their rule and royal bloodline
after the death of Alexander the great in the Hellenistic period. Despite being
Egypt's last and most well-know Pharaoh, Cleopatra was actually Greek, when her
origins were traced back, it was found that her ancestor was Alexander the great's
general. When Alexander perish, her ancestor, Ptolemy, took control of egypt thus
beginning their reign.
Cleopatra's sister, Berenice seized the throne while her father was in Rome. When
he returned and took it back he demanded Berenice's execution and she was
beheaded, making Cleopatra joint regiment and deputy to her father at just 14
years old. 4 years later her father passed and Cleopatra (18) and her brother,
Ptolemy XIII (10), married a to join monarchs although she made it clear that she
had no intention to share her throne. But due to conflicts and backstabbing her
brother, a cable of courtiers led by Eunuch Pothinus ended Cleopatra's reign and her
brother became the sole ruler.
A man by the name of Pompey was defeated by Julius Caesar's forces in the battle
of Pharsalus, and fled to Egypt to find protection against him. Ptolemy massacred
Pompey in front of his wife and children trying to please Caesar. Caesar became
engulfed in raged for this isn't what he wanted; this was a miscalculation on
Ptolemy's half. Cleopatra, still in exile, took advantage on Caesar's rage and had
herself smuggled into his palace to meet. She became his mistress and nine-months
after their first meeting she gave birth to their son Ptolemy Caesar, nicknamed
Caesarion meaning little Caesar.
After the birth of his son he demolished his plan to overtake Egypt and instead
backed up Cleo's claim to the throne. Caesar defeated Ptolemy's army and he
drowned in The Nile River awarding Cleopatra her throne again. Although Cleopatra
was 21 and Caesar was 52 they remained lovers in Caesars stay in Egypt from 48
BC and 47 BC; Cleo tried to get Caesar to name their son the heir to his throne but
Caesar refused choosing his grandnephew Octavian to take his place when he
passed.
Cleopatra,Ptolemy and Caesarean visited Rome and stayed in one of Caesar's
country houses. It was obvious to all of the people of rome that the two of them
were having an affair, it created a huge scandal because the Caesar was already

married. Caesar made no effort to hide his relationship with Cleopatra as he put up
a gold statue of her. They were all still in Rome when Caesar was assassinated.
When Cleopatra rose to the throne again, she married her other brother Ptolemy XIV
whom she later poisoned to gain sole control of Egypt.
In 41 BC Mark Antony sent Quintus Dellius to Egypt to question Cleopatra about her
loyalty to Rome. Quintus returned with Cleopatra and the two sat together in
discussion over civil issues. The real reason he had brought her there was to ensure
that she would back him up in his planned attack against the Parthians. But Mark
Antony fell for her charms and stayed the winter of 41 BC and 40 BC with her in
Egypt. To protect herself and Caesarion, she had Antony order the death of her
sister Arsinoe, who had been exiled to the Temple of Artemis for her role in leading
the Siege of Alexandria. Cleopatra was afraid Arsinoe would gain enough forces for
her to attempt to overthrow herher.hessissisteragain.bbbbb has was
