Configuring DHCP:
Overview
DHCP is a network service used to provide hosts with IP configuration. DHCP
is short for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. Several options can be
configured on a DHCP server including (but not limited to):

IP Address

Subnet Mask

WINS/DNS server

NTP server

Default Gateway

Configuring DHCP:
1. Open up DHCP MMC snap-in from Start > Programs > Administrative
Tools >DHCP

2. Configure the global server options (this will vary between different sites).
An example of this is located below:

3. Configure the DHCP scope and assign specific scope properties

4. Click Next.
5. Enter the name and description for the scope. (e.g. Primary scope for
Nanjing (NAN))

6. Click Next.
7. Enter the starting and ending IP addresses for the scope, and the subnet
mask for the scope.

8. Click Next.
9. Type in any exclusions in the next screen. This is normally done on sites
which have RAS.
10. Enter in the lease duration which is the standard 14 days on primary
scopes and 3 days for backup scopes.

11. Click Next.

12. When the wizard ask to configure options for this scope now, choose Yes
and press Next.
13. Enter the IP address of the router (default gateway) and click Add.

14. Click Next.

15. Enter the parent domain owenscorning.com.
Note: Don't fill in any DNS information in the box below.

16. Click Next.

17. No information is necessary for WINS since you've configure server
options in the beginning. Click Next.
18. Do not active the scope.

19. Click Next.

20. Click Finish.
Post-Checks:
Double check the scope and verify the IP addresses, domain names, etc are
correct before activating. This screen shows all the options that were made
during the wizards followed above.

After you've verified everything is successful, right-click on Scope [100.x.x.x]

and click on Activate.
