Static switch transfer test Push Button

6.6 User Menu / set points

A keypad driven user menu shall contain at least the following
a) Choice of language (for overseas makes)
b) Bypass static switch control
c) High rate charge command
d) Selection of automatic high rate charge
e) Battery discharge test
f) All voltage, current, PF and protective settings including calibration data shall be digitally stored
in a non-volatile memory. Different password levels shall be there for accessibility

7.0 Reliability
a) All necessary care shall be taken in selection, design, manufacturing, testing and
commissioning of the equipment for ensuring high system reliability. Vendor shall furnish the
value MTBF, MTTR and Availability Factor. The above figures shall be substantiated by tests
and field results. Following design consideration shall be taken into account to ensure
maximum availability of the system.
b) There shall be no common device, between main and redundant units (eg. Master oscillations
etc.) In order to ensure that the failure of the same does not cause shutdown of more than one
unit.
c) It shall be possible to bring out any individual power circuit for maintenance without affecting
the total UPS supply.
d) Series parallel combination of smaller devices to achieve specified rating shall not be
acceptable.
e) All the components used shall be time tested and standardised. Vendor shall state the safety
factors used in selecting such items as semiconductors, electrolytic capacitors, transformers
etc. Vendors shall quote their nearest higher size that will meet the requirement of the specified
UPS rating.
f) UPS shall have dual redundant communication ports for communicating the status of breakers/
switches, alarms, faults etc in the UPS system to remote.
g) The hardware, including control circuitry of the UPS, shall be suitable for temperatures and
other adversities that will occur during UPS operation including overload. Burn-in tests under
full load and overload conditions shall be carried out to minimize the possibility of early
component or system failures and to prove the UPS design. The manufacturer shall provide
test evidences to confirm that the minimum MTBF of individual component of UPS at 30
degree centigrade shall be at least for 100,000 hours. The design of the UPS shall be such that
MTTR shall be minimized by the use of self diagnostic and monitoring features, with clearly
labeled removable control cards.
The manufacturer shall maintain complete spare parts program and service support for at least 20
years.

8.0 Fault Diagnostic Unit

Each UPS set shall have provision for adding microprocessor based on- line fault diagnostic unit.
This shall supervise the UPS operation continuously. It shall identify and locate faults immediately

so that corrective action can be taken. The software shall be provided on CD ROM drive. The fault
diagnostic unit shall have provision for following minimum facilities:
a) Automatic print out facilities for time, input / output voltages, currents, frequency under the
following conditions

UPS power source changeover from mains to battery

UPS power source changeover from battery to mains
Changeover from one inverter to other inverter
Changeover time in case of inverter to stabilized bypass supply and from one inverter to
other inverter
Printout in case of UPS failure

Output voltage and current waveform of UPS

Type of failure incident along with diagnostic report
b) In addition to the above, any other feature which vendor feels may be useful shall be provided
and highlighted separately.

9.0 Tests and Acceptance

9.1

Testing of UPS shall be done in accordance with relevant Indian/ IEC codes.

9.2

The bidder shall submit the certificates of type tests performed on identical equipment as
evidence of the compliance of the equipment with the type tests.

9.3

The bidder shall submit the certificates of routine and acceptance tests conducted on the
purchased equipments.

9.4

All routine/ acceptance tests shall be performed at the manufacturers works in the presence of
Owners representative.

9.5

The Owner / Purchaser or their representative shall be allowed to visit the manufacturing works
for stage inspection during manufacturing stage.

9.6

The Bidder shall intimate the Owner / Purchaser 4 weeks in advance of the tests and submit the
detailed schedule of tests.

10.0 Packing and Dispatch

All the equipment shall be divided into several sections for protection and ease of handling during
transportation. The equipment shall be properly packed for transportation by ship / rail or trailer.
The panels shall be wrapped in polythene sheets before being placed in crates to prevent damage
to finish. Crates shall have skid bottom for handling. Special notations such as Fragile, This side
up, Centre of gravity, Weight etc shall be clearly marked on the package together with Tag Nos.
P.O. Nos. etc. The equipment may be stored outdoors for long periods before erection. The
packing should be suitable for outdoor storage in areas with heavy rains / high ambient
temperature.
All spares should be packed in separate wooden boxes and shall not be mixed up with main items
which are being dispatched from vendor works. The packing list for spares should be strictly
followed at the time of dispatch of spares. The one copy of packing list should be pasted on the
wooden box and another copy should be kept in the box along with spares.
