Vishwakalyana mission institute was started in Bangalore in 1975 and in 1977
was included in the Indian Trust Act. Mahajagadguru Lingananda Swamiji was the
first president of the institute. The first basava mantapa was constructed in Rajaji
Nagar 2nd Block and was inaugurated on the Basava Jayanti in 1975. In 1978,
Viswa Kalyana Mission bought a vast land in Kumbalagodu village on the
Bangalore Mysore Highway. This is named as Basava Gangotri Ashrama, where
teaching and training programmes are organised. The institute is also running an
orphanage and an old peoples home.
Basavotsava Program:
Though the teaching and training programs are organised, it was decided in
2010 that Basavotsava must be conducted annually. Accordingly ,on 26.6.2016 ,
the 7th Basavotsava has been arranged. The inaugural is at 10.30 am. Sri
Jagadguru Chanabasavananda Swamiji is to preside the event.

stay have to be made for the two days of the event. Those interested can donate

The transportation can be availed through the bus routes such as 223,224 and
226 that will ply from city market to basava gangotri. The main entrance of
Basava gangotri is between Ramohalli cross and Kumbalagodu.

For education, from 1st to SSLC , admission is allowed for orphan girls in Basava
Gangotri orphanage.

The making of 111 feet bronze statue of Guru Basavanna in Basava Gangotri
Bidar districts Basava Kalyana Sharana Bhumi; a pilgrimage where 770 immortal
great people walked. Since there was an inspiration to develop the 3 acres of
land was purchased in 2001 and later 17 acres was bought.
Work is on for many projects. Basavaeshwara Dhyana mantapa , Shravana
Grama, Guru Basavannas 108ft brass statue was inaugurated on 28.10.2012.
The Bangalore people are eagerly awaiting the bronze statue in Basava Gangotri.
Therefore the 111 ft bronze statue is being taken up. It would be an altar of 30ft
height would be made. On top of that the statue of Basavanna doing linga pooja
and yaga would be made. Below the altar, one dhyana mantapa containing 7
idols would be built.
The lingayat community has its own tradition. Guru Basavanna got constructed
which is also known as the first parliament and installed a shunya peeta . The
first peetadhesha was religious head, Allama prabhu. Statues of Nijaguna
Shivayogi who wrote great poems and songs, shedakshari and palkurike
somanath, will be put up in the garden. The huge bronze statue is made with the
hope that Basavannas teachings will be spread. Therefore these generous
monetary contributions is essential and will be used efficiently. Since the works
are done through Viswa Kalyana Mission, the contributions will have a tax
benefit.
People can give contributions according to their ability to contribute :

For 11,000/- and above , the persons name will be put up on the board.
For 25,000/- and above, the names will be engraved on the granite stone in a
group.
For 50,000/- and above, the names will be engraved on a separate stone.
For 1,00,000/- and above, the names will be engraved on a separate stone and
their photos will be displayed in the museum.

The entrance to basava gangotri is between Ramohalli cross and Kumbalgodu
village, on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway. On request the buses will stop here.
Route numbers 228,229,231 from city market , the bus to bidadi from platform
no 19 from Majestic will stop here.

We are seeing a very bad situation in society nowadays. Children with separated
parents; children who are struggling to continue their education; poverty due to
rise in prices of essential goods. Such children are to be educated and let in the
mainstream of the society and this is the inevitable duty of the society.
Kumbalgodus Basava gangotri has been doing this successfully for the last 8-10
years. Already hundreds of students have got their education here and have
made their future.
Applications are invited from the orphans and the poor children. In the
orphanage , education, residence and free meals are available. There are
playgrounds for the children to play. It is an environment where children can
grow up with culture and spend their childhood happily. For the girls, admission is
available from 1st 10th std and for the boys it is available from 1st-7th std.
