Introduction
CBCI-CARD is an alliance of Catholic organisations working in the health
and development sector. Since its constitution in 2009, it has been working with
a specific focus on TB, Malaria and HIV/AIDS. The alliance acts as a bridge
between health societies run by the Church endeavouring to bring these within
the ambit of the National TB Programme. CBCI-CARD has also demonstrated

It has been observed that, almost 80% TB patients do not have access to good
nutritional
food which leads to lap in treatment and delay in recovery. To
address this issue, Axshay Team at CBCI CARD came up with innovative idea of
having Axshya Trophy to create awareness and generate funds for nutrition
support of TB patients.
Through the event we succeed to receive nutritional support from community in
term of money and compassion. we supported 25 families by providing them
food grain. We were able to create awarness among more then 30,000 people on
TB in the project operational area. This idea was well appriciated by various
stakholder incuding relious leaders and mark its presnce in the print media too.

Vocational Training: source of income generation for TB patients.

At one hand, most of the TB patients are from margined community and
with poverty background and other hand, TB take at least Six to Eight months to
get cured due which, person may losses its 40-50 annual income. Keeping this in
mind, various vocational trainings were organized with objective to have skill
building of TB patients which may help them to have some income generating
activities. Poultry framing at Jabalpur (MP) in which thirty three patients were
trained, Candle, Agrbati and bindi training at Malda (WB), Balia, Varanasi, and
Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh in which more than Hundreds patients got trained
themselves were some of the efforts from CBCI Card.
