1.0 INTRODUCTION

About this Book; this book is purposed to raise awareness among

church ministers; pastors, elders, deacons and worship teams for
effective delivery of Gods service to the congregation. Topics
discussed herein are praise and worship, prayer and fasting, work
and faith, love and giving, the first fruits, offerings and tithe, the
heart, the tongue, the good shepherded, the Master Lord Jesus,
Discipleship and baptism, Church leadership and administration.
Like any private or public sector, technical expertise is a
prerequisite in execution of Gods service; you need to be
knowledgeable in what you do to ensure quality delivery of
services.
Today however, Gods service is reviled and
associated with school dropouts, unknowledgeable and non
informed persons because a great percentage of those
commissioning it have rejected knowledge. For this reason, they have
been rejected both by the world and the kingdom of God. Hosea 4:6
About the Author; GORRETH ABRAHAMS also known as
Mary Gorrety TINO the Founder/Vision bearer ENC Ministry
is a Born Again Christian who believes in Christ Jesus as her
personal Lord and Savoir; The Son of God; The One who died and
rose again. Her calling in Ministry is to support potential young
ministers and ministries of the Gospel of God to actualize their fullest
potentials in the service of God. She aims at preaching the Gospel of
God to all nations, restoring true worship and praise in the hearts
of Christians and bringing about healing and deliverance in the
lives of people through capacity building. Gorreth is a born of one
of the most humble and least District in Ugandan Kumi District.
During the 1986/87 gorilla war in Teso, she took refuge in
Uganda-Kenya boarder till finally she was internally displaced
together with her family to Tororo Prisons for six years where
she experienced a jungle life in her tender age (6-12 years old).
Being the elder daughter in the family, and the fact that her
parents became jobless following displacement, she got
involved in contributing to the familys welfare and education. Her
major source of income was distilling waragi (local brew) through
the process of pounding, grinding, fermenting and roasting

cassava and maize plus gathering firewood. She also made additional
income from selling brooms, gleaming and threshing the
prisoners farm remains and searching for mushrooms to
complement on the familys diet. Gorreth has walked in the city and
rural life, in abundance and lack, in disappointments and failures to
success. She has been a shepherd from childhood (tendering her biological fathers goats) to date (tendering her Heavenly Fathers flock).
Through her struggle, patience and determination, she has
attained DEHS, BEHS, PGP and currently perusing MPH of

Makerere University School of Public Health. Most importantly she

founded an organization here referred to ENC Ministry. Prophetic to her
name Abrahams, she is a mother to many; she is down to anybody.
ENC (Exhortation Nurturing and Commissioning) Ministry; is
a faith (Born Again Christian) founded, non-profit, Non Government Organization that was visualized in 2006 through which,
the vision bearer wrote a book Healing to a Broken Heart and
sponsored some university dropouts (potential and prospective
ministers of God). In 2010, the Ministry was conceptualized and
later was duly registered as an NGO on the 28th day of Jan 2011.
The Ministry aims at impacting and transforming the lives of the
disadvantaged, marginalized and the abused into resourceful,
valuable, acceptable and God fearing people in society through a
number of developmental projects. These efforts are directed towards the
fulfilment of the scriptures; Isaiah 62:4 Thou shall no more be termed
forsaken; neither shall thy land be termed desolate; but thou shall be
called Hephzibah and thy land Beulah; for the Lord delights in thee
and thy land shall be married. Beulah in Hebrew language means
married which figurative meaning is being restored to Gods Glory.
The Ministry is implementing its activities in Africa with its
largest
programme
in
Uganda
which
projects
include;
Agriculture, Foods and Nutrition, Education, Maternal and
Child Health -MCH, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene WASH,
Community Development and Church Capacity Building CCB.

2.0 PRAISE AND WORSHIP

Praise and Worship are usually interchangeably misunderstood;
most Christians take praise for fast beat Christian music and
worship for slow beat; this is quite wrong; not every fast beat has praise
words neither does very slow beat song has worship words to God.
2.1 Definition of Praise and Worship
Praise is to extol; to give God thanks; to glorify God for what
He has done; for His marvellous works and power; for the
great things He has done; Luke 2:20. Praise comes from our
hearts as a testimony of Gods marvellous works; it is a song
of answered prayers; Psalms 28:6-7 and a passport to the
courts of heaven with thanks giving; Psalms 100:4. PRAISE
DOES NOT INVOLVE BITTERNESS, GRUMBLING AND
WAILING TO GOD BUT EXALTING GOD WITH REJOICING
HEARTS AND SINGING NEW SONGS TO GOD; PSALMS 9:1-2.
We praise God because He is great and greatly to be praised;
Psalms 96:1-4. Whenever there is an opportunity to praise,
maximize it with all your heart and resources, including but not
limited to; instruments, harps; Psalms 33:1-3, trumpets and a
joyful noise Psalms; 98:4-8. Praise done in silence is dead Praise
Psalms; 115:17, God is to be applauded in Praise; Luke 19:37.
Worship means adoration; paying reverence; to bow down;
Acts 10:25; O come and let us worship and bow down; Psalms
95:6. In the Old Testament, men of God bow their heads
between their knees worshiping God; Exodus 34:8. IN
WORSHIP, WE ACKNOWLEDGE OUR POSITIONS AS SERVANTS
AND GOD THE KING. WE WORSHIP GOD FOR WHO HE IS.
Worship is done in Holiness and/or holy places; Isaiah 27:13
but our iniquities have separated us from God; Isaiah 59:1-2
To worship God, you must present yourself as a living sacrifice;
not conformed to the standards of this world; Romans 12:1-2.

By Gorreth Abrahams; Founder ENC Ministry

Knowledge in Gods service

Worship is done in Spirit and in truth because God is Spirit; John

4:24, and where the spirit of God is, there is liberty; 2Corinthians
3:17. Meaning one must die to flesh before worshiping; Galatians
2:20, Romans 6:6-8, being lead by the Spirit of God; Romans 8:14-18,
Matthew 2:1-2 and being sensitive to falsification; Matthew 2:7-12.
Worship goes beyond singing those pleasant words to God but involves
our entire heart and possession. Cain and Abel worshiped God with
their first fruits Genesis 4:1-5 and to each heart was its own reward.
The wise men worshiped Jesus with Gifts; And when they
were come into the house, they saw the young child with
Mary His mother and fell on ground and worshiped Him; and
when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto
Him gifts; gold and frank incense and myrrh Matthew 2:11.
Abraham worshiped God with the greatest sacrifice of
his heart - Isaac; Genesis Chap 22. David scarified his
integrity and danced for the Lord; 2Samuel 6:12-23.
How about you todays worshiper! What have you
presented to God as a sacrifice of your heart? Come on! Dont
be deceived; you cant be the worshiper and yet always the least
bidder or a dormant partner in fundraising for the worship
department; that is spiritual dwarfism. WE MUST PRESENT
TO GOD A GIFT OF OUR HEART, TIME, HIDDEN TREASURE,
FINANCE, CHILDREN AND ALL OTHER RESOURCES within
our reach. Honouring God with lips is vain worship;Mark 7:6-8.
Worship goes beyond praise; WHILE AS PRAISE GLORIFIES GOD
FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE, WORSHIP GLORIFIES GOD FOR WHO
HE IS; His Holiness, Righteousness, Graciousness, Majesty, Might,
Glory, name it; for the unseen and indescribable nature of His being.
We worship the one we believe in and identify with, meaning;
ANYONE CAN PRAISE GOD BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN WORSHIP
GOD. To worship Him, you must believe in Him first and make an
identity with Him in Spirit, in this case; you must be born again;
born of the water and of the Spirit; John 3:3-5, Romans 10:9-10, be
a new creation 2Corinthians 5:17, a child of God Romans 8:14-16
and one Spirit with God 1Corinthians 6:17, which has died to flesh;

By Gorreth Abrahams; Founder ENC Ministry

Knowledge in Gods service

Galatians 20:2 and speaks the language of Heaven; Joshua 1:8.

An illicit example in Uganda is; only those who believe in and
identify with the Kabaka (King of Buganda) pay reverence to him;
they make their identity with him in the local Language (Luganda).
2.2 The Power of Praise and Worship
Praise pulls down the strong holds; it breaks the yokes;
Now Jericho was straightly shut up because of the children of
Israel; none went out and none came in.........and it came to pass
on the seventh day at the seventh time that Joshua said to the
people, shout; for the Lord has given you the city....... so the people
shouted when the priests blew the trumpets and it came to pass, when
the people heard the sound of the trumpet and the people shouted
with a great shout that the wall fell down flat...... Joshua Chap 6.
Praise defeats and delivers you from the enemy; And when they
had began to sing and to praise, the Lord set an ambushment
against the children of Amon, Moab and Mt. Seir which were come
against Judah; they were smitten.......everyone helped to destroy
another 2Chronicles 20:22-23. Peter was delivered from prison
by praise; Acts Chap 12, so was Paul and Silas; Acts 16:25-40.
Praise rebuilds the broken walls;
And
when
the
builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord,
they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets and the
Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals to praise Ezra 3:10-11.
Worship identifies you with your God; it draws the attention of the
Lord your God when you call Him by Name. When a child calls
dad!, the true father of that child will certainly recognise the
voice of his child and immediately stops whatever he is doing to
pay attention to the call of his child. That is the power of worship
with our Father in Heaven. This way, little time is spent in prayer
(making requests to God) but much in worship and dialogue
with God and consequently quick results and immediate actions.

peoples hearts for the Word of God, healing, and deliverance.

People receive anointing and begin to see visions, revelations, word of knowledge and speaking in tongues.
Important to note; a true worshiper pulls down the presence of
God irrespective of his voice or music talent but the divine anointing in him draws people into the presence of God. This is what
makes a difference between a worshiper and a secular musician.
Lucifer knows the power of praise and worship, as such,
he always fights the true worshipers; Luke 10:17-20. Worshippers must therefore take heed not to yield to temptation; to the pressing desires of the flesh; Matthew 4:1-11.
2.3 Leading Gods children into worship
During the worship session, the worship leader must be very
sensitive and vigilant to the move of God; not to hinder the
presence of God by jacking beats or by sudden change of songs
which in any case may be uncoordinated. Important to note; if a
particular worship song or verse is pulling down the presence of God,
there is no need to change that song even if it takes the whole service,
let it be; DO NOT FIGHT THE PRESENCE OF GOD BY MAKING ATTEMPTS TO COMPLETE THE LONG LIST OF SONGS PREPARED.
Ensure that you sing purely worship songs in worship
sessions; I mean songs that speak of Gods Majesty, Holiness,
Righteousness, courteousness; that total glorify God for Who
He is. DO NOT SING ABOUT THE DEVIL AT THIS POINT; it is
total controversy to speak about the devil when speaking about
God; TOTAL CONFUSION; neither the devil nor God will pay
attention to you because none knows who is being worshiped.
Singing about the devil makes him more stable and a spectator yet no praise goes to God (TIME LOST ENTERTAINING THE
DEVIL) but at the Name Jesus; when we glorify our God, the devil
will have no room in the presence of God; he will flea for his life.
Emanuel Eni, (2009 Reprint), delivered from the powers of darkness;
Christians (I mean Born Again Christians) should realise that,
when the Name of Jesus is pronounced, what comes out of their

By Gorreth Abrahams; Founder ENC Ministry

Knowledge in Gods service

mouth is fire, when a Christian stands in the authority given him

by Christ and gives command in Jesus Name, fire pours out of his
mouth and any demon controlling the circumstance must obey.
Why then waste time binding demons and singing about the devil?
In Uganda, is it possible for one to address the Kyabazinga (the
King of the Basoga) in the Kabakas place? Hey wake up! Wash off
the mud smear from your eyes and spend your time worshiping
your God; the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Bible tells
us; submit yourselves to God and resist the devil and he will flee;
James 4:7, neither give place to the devil; Ephesians 4:27, and they
overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their
testimony; Revelations 12:11. Two things; the Name Jesus and blood
of Jesus scatter every plan and strategies of the devil and his agents.
Remember! Jesus is the Name above all names; that at the Name
Jesus, every knee should bow down; of things in heaven and
things in earth and things under the earth; Philippians; 2:9-11.
Another import aspect in worship is to avoid singing the me
and the i songs; this category of songs only address peoples
spiritual needs and prepare people for worship; they speak about
oneself NOT God. In other words, these songs are most useful in
the beginning of the service; before people enter deep worship but
not to be intermixed in the true worship. See sub section (2.4).
If in your opinion, you are not compatible (not flowing) with a
particular song you are leading, better to give out the microphone
to the next leader than forcing self; you may end up in tongue
locks instructing the congregation pray, Pray, Pray or clap your
hands or Paka Chini these completely drive away the presence of
God. NO PRAYER PULLS HEAVENS DOWN BUT TRUE WORSHIP.
2.4 Selecting praise and worship songs for a service
By now i believe you have clearly understood what praise is
and what worship is; the meaning thereof directly correlate with
their songs. Praise and worship songs therefore should not be
confused with the inspirational me, i, & our songs or prayer
songs or thanks giving songs or replenishing song. There are
however songs which are cross cutting; they cover all aspects.

By Gorreth Abrahams; Founder ENC Ministry

Knowledge in Gods service

The
worship
leader
in
this
case
must
to
be
very
vigilant
when
bringing
in
such
songs.
Do not bring in your songs of Shetani analiyaliya (the
devil is crying), Ayi Yesu, yakwata Sitani (Jesus caught the
devil), or Shetani chini (Satan lower) in praise and worship
sessions. Here we are totally praising and worshiping God.
FIND TIME ELSEWHERE PROBABLY IN THE STREETS
TO TALK ABOUT THE DEVIL BUT NOT IN PRAISE AND
WORSHIP SESSIONS. We need to triumph over the devil by
glorifying the name of God, no use to make mention of the
devil in the midst of deep praise or worship. When we glorify
God, automatically the devils kingdom is shaken and overthrown
Most dreadful today, most of our churches have become
stable in spending three quarters of their time meant for
praise and worship in singing about the devil and the other
quarter in the me, i & our songs. By close of business, the
whole church is very comfortable that they have praised and
worshiped God. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;
because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee...
Hosea 4:6.
Praise songs; Luke 2:13-14; At the birth of Christ Jesus,
suddenly there was with the Angel, a multitude of Heavenly host
praising God saying Glory to God in the highest and on earth
peace, good will towards men. Praise songs must give God Glory
and bring peace in the hearts of men. Examples of praise songs;
How great is our God
Our God is an Awesome God
Yahweh
Holy is the Lord
I call you Holy
Lord God of Abraham
God of wonders
His love endures forever
Glorify thy Name
Glory to the Lord
The Lord Reigns
God is Good all the time
Great in power
Let the Name of the Lord be praised
All the Heavens shout your Praise
Worship songs; only songs that glorify God for who He is must be
sung in worship session. It is important to pay reverence to God at
this point in time because worship is adoration; bowing down to God.

By Gorreth Abrahams; Founder ENC Ministry

Knowledge in Gods service

Very pathetic in some churches, the pastor alerts the

congregation; we are entering into the time of deep
worship and he begins Singa Yesu teyali wamu nange, abalabe
bandimpangudde (if Jesus was not with me, the enemy-devil
would have overthrown me) or yansumulula nze, kulujegere (He
delivered me from the chain), or Pass me not Oh gentle Saviour or
when He call me i will answer. Is there any worship word in any
of these songs? My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Here are some examples of worship songs;
You deserve the glory
Glory, Glory
Sound of heaven
Hallelujah
You alone are Holy
You are awesome in this
place
All the Heavens
All Heavens declare
Because of who you are
I stand in Owe of You
Everything cries Holy
Majesty
Worship His Majesty
Oh the Glory
Blessed be Your Name
Above all power
Merciful Wonderful Saviour
How great is our God
Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty
How great thou Art
The Me, I and Our songs; In real life, peoples hearts are
broken; they need to listen to these songs before they tune
into true worship. Here songs lift off peoples burdens; they
speak into their lives making them believe that they are once
again loved by God; that God cares and never lets down His
righteous. For this reason, most gospel artists have tuned into this
category of songs; the most selling songs today because they
enrich peoples souls. However, the gospel artists should stay
focused in true worship; not to be waived by peoples demands
and emotions. This category of songs only pleases man NOT God;
they speak to man NOT to God. We need to get back to the basics
of life; the purpose for which we are created; to worship God.
The examples of me, i, & our songs listed hereunder should
not be mingled in true praise and worship but rather before.

Light of the World

Air i breathe
Love you so much
To the river
Old Ragged Cross
He knows my name
You raise me up
Here I stay
Oxygen
Healing rain
Jesus Firm Foundation
God is in control
Ive got my mind made up

I will sing
Because He lives
You are my world
I will be still
He touched me
You are my strength
And let the peace of God
Imagine me
I will run to You
Am a friend of God
Oh sing for Joy
I am not forgotten
Am trading my sorrow

Prayer songs; these songs make requests to God; they ask for
Gods provision, healing, deliverance, name it. Such songs are most
suitable to introduce after worship; when people have soaked up
in the anointing; in the presence of God. Once Gods attention has
been drawn in worship, it is then easy to dialogue, to chart with
Him and to ask for your rights as a child of God. Never to beg nor to
wail because you are not a beggar before God but His child who is
entitled to certain rights. You only need to exercise your position
and authority as co-heir with Christ Jesus and it shall be done.
Examples of these songs;
Fill this temple Oh Lord
Let your glory fill this place
Let your Glory fall
Eagles Wings
I surrender
Call on Jesus
I pledge allegiance
Holy Spirit Thou Art welcome

Breathe on me
As we worship you
Our Father
Ancient Word
Power of love
Lord we proclaim you
Refiners fire

The Word songs; they are sometimes referred to as Evangelistic

songs because they preach the Gospel of God; they speak the
Word of God; singing these songs is one way of preaching the
Gospel to all nations because people love music. Most word songs
however cross cut with inspirational songs. The worship leader has to
be noble enough when introducing such songs; examples include;

Ancient of days
All things are possible
I will enter His gates
Oceans will part
In Christ a one
God is in control

Thanks giving songs; these songs give thanks to God. Most appropriate to introduce after people have prayed, to thank God believing
that every prayer made has been answered. Below are some examples;
Worthy is the Lamb
We say thank you Lord
Thank you for giving to the Lord
Thank you Lord
Give thanks with a grateful heart
What can i do but thank you
Cross cutting songs; these songs are mixed up; part of the
chorus falls in any category of songs and the other parts in others.
Introducing such songs in any session needs a sober and a
Nobel
worshiper
who
is
very
sensitive
to
the
Spirit of God. When he/she realises that the congregation is not
shifting
in
worship,
can
quickly
jack
back
to
inspirational songs and back to worship and still be in position
to pull the presence of God. Examples of such songs include;
Let the weak say am strong
God will make away
Dwelling places
Worthy is the Lamb
now
Father of creation
I could sing of your love forever
And that my soul knows very well
Now is the time to worship
Days of Elijah
Hear our praises
Open the eyes of my heart

Blessing and Honour

Be magnified Oh Lord
Glory to the King
Lord we proclaim you
By your side
Every day
Sing out
My Redeemer lives
Your Grace is enough
Arise
This is Your house

3.0 PRAYER AND FASTING
3.1 Prayer is communing with God the Father in Heaven; it
involves building altars in our hearts and calling upon the name
of God; Genesis 12:8, 13:4.
Examples of distinctive prayers made in the Bible:
Joshua after the defeat at Ai reasoned with God; Joshua, 7:812.
Samson called upon God for a remembrance of his strength; to
be avenged against the philistine; Judges 16:28-30.
Hannah in the bitterness of her soul vowed unto God for a
remembrance; 1 Samuel 1:9-20.
King Hezekiah petitioned God of his righteousness; how rightly
he walked with His God, that unto him 15 years more were
added; 2Kings 20:1-6.
Job after being reproached by his friends never cursed any but
prayed for them that unto him, fortune was restored twice as
much as he had before; Job 42:10.
Jesus Prayed; Matthew 26:39.
In Matthew 6:5-14 Jesus Christ taught His disciple how to pray
through a sequential series;
And when thou pray, thou shall not be as hypocrites are; for
they love to pray standing in synagogues and in corners of
the streets, they have their reward. But thou when thou pray,
enter into a closet and when thou has shut the door, pray to thy
Father who is in secrete and thy Father who sees in secrete shall
reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions
as heathens do; for they think that they shall be heard for their
much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them; for your
Father knows what thing ye have need of, before ye ask him
After this manner shall ye therefore pray;

Part I; Our Father who Art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name,

Thy Kingdom come; this creates a rapport and an audience with
God; it is a form of worship that identifies you with your God.
Part II: Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven; after creating an
audience with God, you then go ahead to ask for His will; many of
our prayers get negative results because we do not pray according
to His perfect will. If we ask anything according to His will He hears
us; and if we know that He hears us whatsoever we ask, we know that
we have the petition that we desire of him; John 5:14-1, James 4:3, and
if we are willing and obedient we will eat the good of the land Isaiah 1:19.

Part III; Give us this day our daily bread; after determining the will
of God, we can now go ahead to make our requests known to Him
minding vain repetitions but praying in the Word of God;
Joshua 1:8, Jeremiah 23:29, John 15:7, 2Timothy 3:16-17,
praying without ceasing in rejoicing, giving thanks in prayer and
supplications; Philippians 4:6-7, 1Thessolonians 5:16-20. Below
are some scripture to guide you.
Praying in authority; Job 22:28, Isaiah 54:17, Matthew
10:1, 11:12, 16:19, 18:18-20, Luke 10:19, and doubt not but
believe that you will receive; Mark 11:23-24. When the
anger of God was fierce against the children of Israel for a
golden calf they made to worship; Moses in his authority
commanded God to repent of His evil against the children of Israel and
reminded God of His covenant with the children of Israel; Exodus
32:11-14. WE NEED NOT TO DEMAND BUT TO
COMMAND GOD in our positions as sons of God;
joint
heirs
with
Christ
Jesus;
Romans
8:14-18.
In need; Deuteronomy 1:8, 28:12-13, Psalms 34:10, 37:25,
103:3, Isaiah 53:3-5, Peter 1:3.
In trouble; Genesis 28:15, 30:22-24, Deuteronomy 1:30, 28:1213, 31:6-7, Joshua 5:9, Judges 16:28, 2Chronicles 16:9,
20:15,17,22,23, 32:7-8, Job 5:19, Psalms Chap 13, 17, 22,
23, 25, 26, 28, 34, 35, 38, 40, 43. Palms 46:1, 75:6-7, 118:17,
125:1-2, Isaiah 41:10-13, 43:1-7, Jeremiah 1:5, 29:11-13, 30:1617, 33:3, 2Corinthians 4:8, 2Timothy 1:7, Zephaniah 3:19-20,
Romans 16:20, 2Corinthians 4:8,17 10:3-6, Ephesians 6:10-17.

Gods covenant and promises; Numbers 23:19, Psalms 89: 34,

Isaiah 55:10, Ezekiel 12:25,28, Matthew 18:19-20, Romans
8:28, Hebrew 6:10, Philippians 1:6.
Part IV: And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from
evil; your prayers cannot yield results when you are holding
your brother in un forgiveness; this is why it is more preferably to
start with repentance before the service begins but not necessary.

The call for repentance; Genesis 6:4-7, Exodus 15:26,

2Chronicles 7:14, Job 8:20-22, 11:14-16, 27:13-13, Psalms
9:17, 33:12, 34:13-22, 37:7-17,34-36, 51:10, Proverbs 1:7,
9:10, 10:24,27, 15:29, 28:1, 29:2, Isaiah 54:14, 59:1-2,
Ezekiel 22:30, Matthew 5:43-45, 12:31-32, 18:21-22, 26:41,
Acts 8:22, Romans 6:23, 12:1-2,14,19, 1Corinthians 3:16,
6:9-20, 10:13, Colossians 3:1-17, James 5:16, 1Peter 3:12.
Part V: For thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory
forever Amen. Here Jesus concludes His prayer teachings with
thanks giving; Psalms 105:1-3, 106, 107:1, 118:1, 136:1,
Philippians 4:6, 1Thessolonians 5:16-18.
Important to note; in our Lords prayer, there is no mention of
breaking of curses but today Christians spend the whole prayer
session breaking curses instead of giving God Glory. Curses can
only be broken in specific sessions when there is true need for it.
Note: when praying, you must go to God through His Son
Christ Jesus; He is the only mediator between man and GOD.
I exhort you therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings,
and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and
peaceable life in all godliness and honesty, for this is
good and acceptable in the sight of God our saviour;
who will have all men to be saved and come unto the
knowledge of the truth; for there is one God and mediator
between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus; who gave Himself
a ransom for all to be testified in due time 1 Timothy 2:1-6.

Be it known unto ye all and all the people of Israel that by the
Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom
God raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand
before ye whole. This is the stone which was rejected by the
builders which has become the chief corner stone. Neither is there
salvation in any other; for there is no other name under
Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved Acts 4:10-12.
Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him a
Name which is above every Name; that at the Name Jesus, every
knew should bow of the things in Heaven and things in earth and
things under the earth; and every tongue should confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father Philippians 2:9-11.
Jesus Himself said; All power is given unto me in
Heaven and in earth; Matthew 28:18. I am the door, by me if any
man enters in, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and
find pasture. The thief comes not but to steal and to kill and to
destroy, I am come that you might have life and life in
abundance; I am a good shepherd; the good shepherd gives his
life for the sheep John 10:9-14. I am the way, the truth, and the
life; no man comes unto the Father but by me John 14:6. Verily
I say unto you, he that believes in me, the works that I do shall
he do also and greater works than these shall he do; because I
go unto my Father. And whatsoever you ask in my Name, that
will I do that the Father in Heaven may be glorified in the Son. If
you shall ask anything in my Name, I will do it; John14:12-14.
Meaning, when praying, you must pray in the Name of our Lord
Christ Jesus; and for you to pray in His Name, you must have
accepted Christ Jesus as your personal Lord and Savoir and
believed in your heart that He died and Rose again; John 3:3-5,
Romans 10:9-10; must be a new creation; 2Corinthians 5:17,
and joint with Christ Jesus in one Spirit; 1Corinthians 6:17.
3.2 Fasting refers to not eating anything or relying on drinks or
plain diet, it involves;
Periodic fast; the Mosaic Law appointed a fast on the day of
attainment. There is no mention of any other periodic fast in the
Old Testament except that in Zachariah 7:1-7, 8:18-19.

Public fast: was occasionally proclaimed to express national humiliation and to supplicate divine favour; 1Samuel 7:6. 2Choronicles 20:3.
Private fast: is frequently observed under the influence of grief,
vexation, anxiety and is recognised once in the law; Numbers 30:13.

In the New Testament, the only referenced fast is the Jewish fast;
Mathew 9:14, Acts 10:30. The Jewish fast was obtained with varying
degree of strictness; sometimes absences from food (dry fast) referred
to us Esthers fast; Esther 4:16, or plain diet (wet fast) referred to us
Daniels fast; Daniel 10:1-3. The New Testament has no command for
Christians to fast. Some people however have gone ahead to form their
own kind of fast including; abstaining from a partner and/or a bed.
When to fast;
When things are not moving as expected or when foreseeing a
danger or hitting a rock Esther Chap 4, 5, 6, Daniel 6:18-26.
Need to beseech God for forgiveness and restoration; 2Samuel
12:13-16.
When preparing for deliverance sessions or missions; Matthew
17:19-21.
In preparation for ordinance of leaders; Acts 14:23.
As a full time Minister; Servant of God, you must array yourself in
fast; Luke 2:37.
When not to fast;
When the Master Lord Jesus is at work; in breakthroughs, you
need not to fast but to praise God with rejoicing; testifying of the
great works He has done; Matthew 9:14-15, 2samuel 12:23.
Why certain fasts dont yield results;
Because of our iniquities;Isaiah 59:1-2,Jeremiah 14:7,11-12,Acts
8:22.
When we fast against the children of God; Zachariah 7:5-6.
When we fast against the will of God; John 5:14-1, James 4:3
What to guard against when fasting;
Defrauding yourselves without consent with each other (in case of
married partners); 1Corinthians 7:3-5
Hypocritical fast; fasting goes with the fear of God, prayer, reading
and meditation upon the word of God, without which, one ends up
in hunger strike. You need to separate yourself for God until you
notice a spiritual difference in your life; Acts 10:1-5.

3.3 The Power of Prayer Fast

Taking a case study of Esther; Again Esther spoke unto Hatch
and gave him a commandment unto Mordecai; ALL KINGS
SERVANTS AND THE PEOPLE OF THE KINGS PROVINCE DO
KNOW THAT WHOSOEVER WHETHER MAN OR WOMAN SHALL
COME UNTO THE KINGS INNER COURT, WHO IS NOT CALLED,
THERE IS ONE LAW OF HIS TO PUT HIM TO DEATH, EXCEPT
SUCH TO WHOM THE KING SHALL HOLD THE GOLDEN SCEPTRE; THAT HE MAY LIVE; but I have not been called to come in
unto the king these three days . Return to Mordecai this
answer; GO GATHER ALL THE JEWS THAT ARE PRESENT IN
SHUSHAN AND FAST FOR ME AND NEITHER EAT NOR DRINK
THREE DAYS; NIGHT AND DAY, I ALSO AND MY MAIDENS
WILL FAST LIKEWISE and so will I go into the king which is not
according to the law; and IF I PERISH, I PERISH; Esther 4:1017.... Now it came to pass ON THE THIRD DAY THAT ESTHER
PUT ON HER ROYAL APPAREL AND STOOD IN THE INNER
COURTS OF THE KINGS HOUSE over the Kings house and the
King sat upon his royal throne AND IT WAS SO WHEN THE KING
SAW ESTHER THE QUEEN STANDING IN THE INNER COURT
THAT SHE OBTAINED FAVOUR IN HIS SIGHT AND THE KING
HELD OUT TO ESTHER THE GOLDEN SCEPTRE THAT WAS
IN HIS HAND. So Esther drew near and touched the top of the
sceptre; Esther 5:1-2, and Easter invited the king to the banquet
wherein she made her request known to the King; Esther 5:7-8.
Lesions learnt
Prayer and fasting breaks yokes and strong holds; it loosens
the
hardened hearts, laws and bureaucratic procedures. It breaks
through restricted provinces and shakes the kingdoms.
Prayer and fasting wins you favour before Kings; Esther did
not
obtain favour by pleading and crying but the prayers made in
the
fasting period embalmed her with favour.
Prayer and fasting did not grant Esters desire but the extra
step she
took to invite the King to a banquet she prepared to dine with
him.

After the prayer fast, Easter put on her royal appeal;

a representation of authority and Kingdomship; it means
prayer and
fasting arrays you with authority as the child of God and a
prince in
the Kingdom of God (no more ashes and tears).
Prayer fast reveal the hidden things and reversers the evil
plots
against the children of God; Ester chapter 4,5&6.
3.4 Prayer and Fasting in relation to giving
When you give through; tithe, offerings, alms, apostolic giving
or any other form of giving, you are partnering with God to build
up a financial system in Heaven. Your account and financial
statements are processed from the bank of heaven under the
management of the arch Angel who coordinates all the depositary
and non depositary financial institutions in Heaven including
brokerage. Christ Jesus being the Chief broker; 1Timothy 2:5,
markets all our assets both in the primary and secondary financial
institutions and the financial instrument used is obedience and
righteousness; 1Samuel 15:22-23, Isaiah 1:19, 54:14, 59:1-2, the
inflow therefore in the economy of heaven is direct from the supplier
to the user; we may not need any intermediary financial institution.
When you give, you are depositing into your account in heaven
and the password to withdraw is prayer and fasting; you petition
God basing on what is available in your account. If you dont have
anything in your account, prayer and fasting will not change anything.
Taking a case study of Cornelius in Acts Chap 10; there was
a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius a centurion of a
band called the Italian band, A DEVOTED MAN AND ONE THAT
FEARED GOD WITH ALL HIS HOUSE WHICH GAVE MUCH
ALMS TO THE PEOPLE AND PRAYED TO GOD ALWAYS. He saw
a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day; an Angel of
God coming to him and said unto him; Cornelius, and when he
looked on Him, he was afraid and said; what is it Lord? And
he said unto him; THY PRAYER AND THINE ALMS ARE COME
UP FOR A MEMORY BEFORE GOD. And now send men to
Joppa and call for one called Simon whose surname is Peter........

While peter thought on the visions of the things that are

common and unclean, the Spirit of the Lord said unto him; held
three men seek thee, arise therefore and get thee down and go with
them doubting nothing; for I have sent them. Then Peter went down
with the men who were sent unto him from Cornelius and said,
behold I am he whom you seek; what is the course wherefore ye are
come? And they said CORNELIUS THE CENTURION, A JUST MAN
AND ONE WHO FEARS GOD AND OF A GOOD REPORT AMONG
ALL NATIONS OF THE JEWS was warned from God by a Holy
Angel to send for thee into his house and to hear words of thee.
And Cornelius waited for them and had called together his
kinsmen and near friends. And as Peter was coming in,
Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him
but Peter took him up saying stand up; I myself also am a man
And Peter said to them; YE KNOW THAT IT IS AN UNLAWFUL
THING FOR A MAN THAT IS A JEW TO KEEP COMPANY OR COME
UNTO ONE OF ANOTHER NATION; BUT GOD HAS SHOWN ME
THAT I SHOULD NOT CALL ANY MAN COMMON OR UNCLEAN
therefore I come unto you without gain saying, as soon as I was
sent for; I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me? And
Cornelius said; FOUR DAYS AGO, I WAS FASTING UNTIL THIS
HOUR; AND AT THE NINTH HOUR, I PRAYED IN MY HOUSE AND
BEHOLD, A MAN STOOD BEFORE ME IN BRIGHT CLOTHING
AND SAID; CORNELIUS, THY PRAYER IS HEARD AND THINE
ALMS ARE HAD IN REMEMBRANCE IN THE SIGHT OF GOD.
Send therefore to Joppa and call hither Simon whose surname
is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by
seaside; who when he comes, shall speak unto thee; and thou has
well done that thou art come. Now there are we all here present
before God to here all things that are commanded of thee by God
Lessons learnt;
When Cornelius prayed and fasted, his prayers were heard
and
things that perturbed him (being considered common and
unclean)
were revealed to the man of God (Peter) but his alms giving
made a
remembrance of him before God.
Cornelius was a devoted man of God; one who feared God and

(Prayer + Fasting) (Word of God + Fear of God) = Hunger Strike/Hypocrisy.

3.5 Prayer and Fasting in relation to obedience, righteousness and Holiness

For obedience is better than sacrifice 1Samuel 15:22-23, the eyes
of the Lord run to and fro the whole earth to prove Himself strong
on the behave of them whose hearts are perfect towards Him;
2Chronicles 16:9, if you are willing and obedient, you will eat the
good of the land; Isaiah 1:19, wait upon the Lord and He shall
renew your strength; Isaiah 40:31, in righteousness shall you
be established; Isaiah 54:14, wrestle not against the flesh but
be in the full Armour of God; Romans 8:6-3, Ephesians 6:10-20.
Prayer and fasting without righteousness and holiness is like
firing bullets on a rock (it will bounce back to you) because
your iniquities have separated you from your God; Isaiah 59:12. For effective results, one must be steadfast; not given to sin;
gossip, grievance and anger inclusive; Matthew 26:41, Romans
6:23, 12:1-2,19, 1Corinthians 6:9-11, 10:13, Colossians 3:510 Philippians 3:3, not given to vengeance; Psalms 18:47, 94:1,
Romans 12:19, walking not in the counsel of the ungodly Psalms 1:1-3
neither putting trust in man; Jeremiah 17:5, John 17:8, but
exhorting one another;1Thessalonians 5:11-28 and taking heed;
Hebrews 3:12-15.
Emanuel Eni (2009) delivered from the powers of darkness; if Christian could only know what God has for him; he would not meddle in sin.
Christians should know that; the moment they enter into
real praise to God almighty; there would be trouble and
confusion both in the sea, air and agents of Satan; prayer is like
throwing a time bomb in our midlist and everyone would except
for his life. God is not moved by your tears but taking authority
and position Romans 8:14-18. If Christians would only realise
and use the authority given them; they would be controlling the
affairs of our nations and only Christians can save our nations.

4.0 WORK AND FAITH

Work is an obligation from God; Genesis 2:15, in the
story of creation; chapter 1 of Genesis, God Himself worked and
rested on the 7th day. When man sinned and fell short of Gods
glory, the punishment was to eat from his own sweat; Genesis 3:17-19.
The
scriptures
say;
commit
thy
work
unto
God
Proverbs; 16:3, study to be quiet and mind your own business;
1Thessalonians 4:11-12, whatsoever ye do in word or deed do all
in the Name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God and the Father;
Colossians 3:17 and you ought to do everything whole heartedly;
Colossians 3:23, Philippians 2:14-15, and if any provide not for
his own and especially for those of his own house, he is worse
than an infidel 1Timothy 5:8. The Lord shall open His good
treasure; the heaven to give rain unto thy land in its season;
and to bless all the work of thine hand; and thou shall lend unto
many nations and thou shall not borrow; Deuteronomy 28:12.
Today many Christians are leading frustrated lives as full
time ministers because they have not harkened to these
scriptures; they have shun the works of their hands
attending fellowships from morning to morning; Monday to
Monday; January to January without any income generating
activity for themselves; WHICH WORKS THEN SHALL GOD BLESS?
Men of God in the Old Testament worked; Joseph won
himself favour, promotion and a wife by hard worked;
he worked as a maid in Potiphars house; Genesis 39:16, in prison as a servant leader; Genesis 39:19-23 and in
the land of Egypt as a prime minister; Genesis 41:37-45.
Moses same story; he kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law;
Exodus 3:1. King David tendered his fathers flock; he was
his fathers shamba boy; 1Samuel 16:11, and a senior commandant in the army of Israel; 1Samuel Chap 17, Chap
30. Talk about Solomon the son of David who built the
house of God; 2Chronicles 1:7-12, and behold his fame
went beyond the face of the earth; 2Chronicles Chap2,3&4.

Knowledge in Gods service

What about you man of God! What have you done

and what are you doing to contribute the growth and
development of your nation and the Kingdom of God?
In the Old Testament, every Jew understood work as a spiritual
activity and worshiped God with it; every Hebrew boy including
Jesus Christ of Nazareth was trained in craft, cunning, curving
and carpentry as a way of earning a living; Exodus 35:30-35,
Acts 4:32-37. In this way Noah was in position to build an ark;
genesis Chap 6,7, Abraham and his son Isaac gathered wood for
burnt offerings; Genesis 22:6; is one reason wood was used for
the testing Abrahams faith. Men of God named in the bible were
involved in several physical activities including; vine dressing,
craftsmanship, shipment and trading but today the reverse is
true Men of God wait to eat at the masters table; to be fed by
the flock instead of feeding the flock; John 10:9-14, 21:15-17.
Still in the Old Testament, the people had the mind to
work; Nehemiah 3:6, and the children of Israel understood
work, because of these, Jesus always referred work in His
parable to make understanding of scriptures easier in the minds
of Israelites; Matthew 13:1-9, 20:1-9, 21:28-45, 25:14-30.
Jesus Himself worked; He cleansed the Temple Matthew 21:1217, He went searching for fruits from the fig tree Mathew 21:18-22.
The Holy Spirit was left behind to work with us
Matthew
10:19-20,
John16:7-11,
Romans
8:14-17.
THE PREVAILING ATTITUDE OF SERVING GOD AS A
FULL TIME MINISTER without any income generating
activity that would through your contributions, offerings and tithe
support the development of the church IS ONE WAY OF
ROBBING THE CHURCH MORE THAN THE ONE DESCRIBED
IN MALACHI 3:8-12. This is one reason why poverty in
developing countries is at its highest peak and why born again
churches have stagnated fellowshipping in Bizigos (dilapidated temporal structures in slum areas) yet they serve a big God.
If true we serve the mighty God and love Him with all our hearts;
WHY THEN DO WE SLEEP IN MANSIONS AND WORSHIP GOD

IN STINKING FILTHY SLUMY TEMPORAL STRUCTURES? Must

the house of God lie desolate in dilapidated state! Do we still call
ourselves servants of God! Do we truly demonstrate the love of
God! No! This is incredible; lets arise and build the house of God
with one mind; as children of God, we ought to represent the glory
of God in the physical, speech and mind. King David purposed in
his heart to build Gods house that even when offered the kings
house he said woe unto me, for I sleep in the house of cedar but
the ark of God of the covenant of the Lord remains under curtains;
1 Chronicles 17:1-15. Nevertheless because he was the man of the
war; his offspring Solomon was blessed to build the house of God.
Faith usually refers to faithfulness, steadfast, trust wort hiness,
with one exception in Habakuk2:4 which refers to one whose
soul is lifted up, which in reality means self trust and is what
Paul in Romans 1:17 referred to as the righteousness of God
ravelled from faith to faith.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for; evidence of things
not seen; Hebrews 11:1, without which, it is impossible to
please God; Hebrews 11:6, whereby we walk by faith and
not by sight 2Corinthians 5:7, for things which are seen are
temporal but things which are not seen are eternal 2corinthians 4:18.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God
Romans 10:17, for we are justified by faith and not by the works of
righteousness which we have done Titus 3:5, nor is a
man justified by law in the sight of God, it is evident; for
the just shall live by faith; Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17,
Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38, for by faith we can
command mountains to move; Matthew 17:19-20, 21:21-22.
Faith worketh by love Galatians 5:6. In the synoptic
Gospel, John avoids the noun faith and uses the verb believe
meaning faith in Christ is a working active process or way of
life. And the law is not of faith but the man that doeth it shall
live by it; Galatians 3:12-13, for if righteousness comes by law,
then Christ died in vain; Galatians 2:21, for the law was given by
Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ John 1:17, Jesus
is the author and the finisher of faith; Hebrew 12:2, and the end of

the law; Romans 10:14, Galatians 2:21, 3:11-13, Matthew 5:17.

Faith without works is dead; James 2:14-26, Abraham our
father was justified by works when he offered Isaac his only
and only son for a burnt offering unto God; Genesis Chap 22,
by his works, his faith was made perfect. This does not mean
that man is justified by faith and works of merits but by faith
that expresses itself through works of love and obedience.
Paul has a profound use of faith meaning trusting and confidence.
To be justified by faith is to reach that status completely without
works of merit; Romans 3:28, 11:6. By works of merit, Paul does
not mean obedience but works by which one earns salvation;
Romans 6:17, 1Thessolonians 1:18, Paul refers faith as putting
on blood of Jesus for justification; Romans 3:25, Galatians 3:26.
Paul continues to say; for to be carnally minded is
death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace,
because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not
subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they
that are in flesh cannot please God but ye are not in flesh
but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you.
Now if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of
His. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin
but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit
of Him that raised up Christ from the dead dwells in you, He
that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your
mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwells in you. Therefore
brethren, we are debtors not to the flesh to live after the flesh. For
if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if ye through the Spirit
do mortify the deed of the body, ye shall live; Romans 8:6-13.

5.0 LOVE AND GIVING

God is love and every on who loves is born of God and knows
God; 1John 4:7-8, and he who dwells in love dwells in God
and God in him; 1 John 4:16, and where there is love, there
is no fear for prefect love casts out fear; 1 John 4:18-20, we
love God because He first loved us, 1John 4:19. Because
God is love, we too aught to love one another with the love of
God; not as Cain who slew his brother; Genesis Chapter 4.
God is come to set us at variance for His great loves sake, therefore,
he who loves his father, mother, daughters or sons more than God
is not worthy of Him, he that takes not his cross to follow God is
not worthy of Him and he that finds his life shall lose it but he who
loses his life for Gods sake shall find it; Matthew 10:34-29, for
everyone that has forsaken his house for Gods sake shall receive back
hundred fold and shall inherit the everlasting life; Matthew 19:29.
If you love God then keep His commandments John 14:15, God
in His ten comments pointed out love as second to worshipping
no other God than Him; Exodus 20:4-17, love is the greatest
commandment; Mathew 22:34-40, John 15:12, He commands
us to love one another John 13:35, to love our enemy, Matthew
5:38-47, Luke 6:27-28, Romans 12:9-21, to honour all men and
love brotherhood, 1Peter 2:17. He that loves not his brother
abides in death, whosoever hates is brother is a murderer 1John
3:11-16. You therefore cannot say that you love God yet hate
your brother; 1John 4:20; you are a lair and the truth is not
in you; 1John 1:6-10, first be reconciled to your brother before
giving your gift in the altar; Matthew 5:22-25, 18:15-17, 21-23.
Paul enlightens that; though I speak with tongues of men and
of Angels and have no love, I am become as a sounding brass
or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have a gift of prophesy
and understand all mysteries and all knowledge and though I
have all faith, so that I could remove mountains and have no
love; I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed
the poor and though I give my body to be burned and have
no love, it profits nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love
envies not; values not itself; is not puffed up 1Corinthians 13:1-4.

Where love is, there is giving for God so loved the world the
he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in
Him should not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16.
Abraham demonstrated his love for God by giving his only
begotten son Isaac Genesis 22:1-14. Therefore LOVE
WITHOUT GIVING IS LUST. The married partners; you cannot
say you love your spouse yet cant give him/her a surprise gift of
worst an clair. Man of God, GIVING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH
ANOINTING BUT THE HEART TO GIVE; render to Caesar what
belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God; Matthew 22:21.
The reason most heathen have prospered against the children
of God and their marriages more stable is because they have
discovered the deep secrete of giving; they are down to give.
However when giving, take hide not to be seen of men; Matthew 6:1-4.
Moses didnt have material thing to give but he offered his efforts to
water Jethros flock and behold, he begot himself a wife Exodus 2:1521, and so did David marry out of 200 foreskins 1Samuel 18:20-29.
Brethren; giving comes from the heart; you cant say you
dont have what to give; look through your wardrobe,
kitchen, sitting room or bedroom, cosmetic tool box and your
talents and value your heart if true you dont have what to give!
It is appalling that some Christians still keep clothes, shoes,
radios/TVs/speaker and kitchen cartulary of 1900 and yet
petitioning God for the new blessings of 2000. First discard
the old and apply faith for the new; the two cannot co-exist.
Launch therefore into the deep and give whole heartedly; Luke
5:4, because, you will harvest what you planted; Galatians 6:7.
But this i say, he who sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly
and he who sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully; every man
according as he purposes in his heart; so let him give not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful give 2Corinthians 9:7.
Give and it shall be given back to you, good measure,
pressed down, shaken together and running over shall all
men give into your bosom, for with the same measure that
ye meter, it shall be measured to you again Luke 6:38.

6.0 THE FIRST FRUITS, OFFERING AND TITHE

The first fruits; the first of the first fruits of thy land, thou
shall bring into the house of the Lord thy God; Exodus 23:19,
all that opens the matrix is mine and every firstling among thy
cattle whether ox or sheep that is male Exodus 34:19, honour the Lord with your substance and with the first fruits of all
thine increase; Proverbs 3:9. Cain and Abel worshiped God with
their first fruits and to each heart was its own reward; Genesis 4:1-5. All the firstborn are mine; for on the day I smote all
the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I hallowed unto me all the
firstborn in Israel both man and beast mine shall they be, I am
the Lord, they are sacrificed for God Numbers 3:13, 8:17-18.
Parents; do not therefore take your firstborn for grantage; even before they were formed in your wombs; they were chose and taken by
God to be His own. Sacrifice them for God; to do His works, also every
beast, fruit or harvest that opens the womb or season; they are not
yours but Lords; offer them unto the Lord as heave offering which
offering shall support the work of God in the tabernacle/temple.
Offering comes from your heart; it includes; alms and apostolic giving.
Giving an offering is not a command as tithe; no one should
therefore compel you but by the guidance of the Holy
Spirit. Your shepherd should be in position to guide not to
exploit you. God knows what you have; Leviticus 1:1-2. Bring
(NOT send) offering before the Lord; Numbers 6:16, 7:3.
In the Old Testament; the children of Israel used to shade blood
for a burnt offering and sacrifices unto God; for repentance and
peacemaking; Leviticus chapter 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 but with Christ
Jesus in the New Testament being the sacrificial Lamb
who shade His blood on the Cross once and for all for the
redemption of our sin; NO more need to shade blood for a sacrifice
but to offer a bountiful sacrifice from the circumcision of our hearts.
Tithe; we tithe our capital gains NOT THE CAPITAL; the capital is
an investment to bring about an increment WHICH INCREMENT
MUST BE TITHED NOT BY WILL BUT BY COMMAND. Tithe into your
store house (your church where you are being feed from) which tithe
will support the ministers of God in your church; Numbers 18:12.

In the Old Testament, the Levites were not numbered

under the tribes of Israel but were given unto Aaron the Priest
because they where chosen and taken by God to be priests
unto him; Numbers 3:9-12-13, 41-45, to serve in the
tabernacle of congregation; and to bear iniquity. They were given
no inheritance but the tithe which other tribes of Israel offered
as heave offering unto the Lord was given them for inheritance;
Numbers 18:23-24 and when they did receive these
tithe, they were to offer a tenth of it to Aaron the priest;
Numbers 18:26-28; and they and their households did eat in
every place for the reward of their service in the tabernacle of
congregation and did bear no sin by reason of it; Numbers 18:31-32.

7.0 THE HEART

God uses you for who you are; if your heart is to serve nations;
surely; God will place you in position to serve, if it is supporting; He
will truly place resources in your hands to be able to support but
if your hearts is wicked/devilish; then surely the devil will use the
wickedness of your heart to place Gods children into their rightful
positions just as Judas Iscariot of the twelve disciple was used to
bring the scriptures to fulfilment; for the glory of the Son of God.
For a man to turn away from the ways of God, it begins with
the heart; the heart is hardened; Isaiah 63:17, but if he
opens his heart to God, it becomes a dwelling place for Christ
Jesus Ephesians 3:17 and dwelling place for the Holy Spirit
2Corithians 1:22; for God is no respecter of persons; Acts 10:34
but a fool has said in his heart, there is no God; Psalms 14:1.
The heart of a righteous man studies to answer but the mouth of
the wicked pours out evil things; Proverbs 15:28, for man looks
on the outside but God looks into our hearts 1Samuel 16:7.
Am sure at the time of Elijah; 1King Chap 17, Luke 4:2427, there were many widows but God commanded this very
widow woman in Zarephath that belonged to Sidon to take care of
Elijah wherefore she and her son were delivered from the stricken
famine that was upon the land. Still at the time of Mary; there were
many virgins in Nazareth but Mary the mother of Christ Jesus
was chosen to be His mother; Luke 1:24-38; why? THE HEART!!!
David the shepherd, son of Jesse was preferred and accepted
before God to be anointed King over Judah; he was a man after
Gods own heart 1Samuel 13:8-14, 16:1-13. Of all the King that
ruled Judah, his house was taken wherein the Kingdom of God
was established forever; 2Samuel 7:1-17. Why? THE HEART!!!
Beloved, i speak to you today not as i but by the guidance of
the Holy spirit; we are what we are today because of our hearts;
If you are to prosper financially then surely you must have the
heart to give; be ready to be a steward of Gods treasury; GOD

continues your way with a devourer and unplanned expenditures.

Often i pity those fighting their fellow colleagues in offices
forgetting that they also are employee in that very office. Yes, the
son of man will go as Christ Jesus went by the betrayal of Judas
Iscariot but you, when your time comes, be ready to face the fate of
Judas Iscariot as the son of man is glorified in the face of the earth.
Then Judas which had betrayed Him, when he saw that he
was condemned, repented himself and brought again the
thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders saying; i
have sinned in that i have betrayed the innocent blood and they
said, what is that to us? See thou to that. And he cast down
the pieces of silver in the temple and departed and hanged
himself. And the chief priests took the silver pieces and said;
it is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is
the price of blood. And they took counsel and bought with them
the potters filed to burry stranger in. Wherefore that filed was
called the field of blood unto this day. Then was fulfilled that
which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, and they
took thirty pieces of silver, the price of Him that was valued,
whom they of the children of Israel did value Matthew 27:3-9.
Now to you who is facing the wrath of betrayal; you need not to
fight back but give God glory because your time for glorification is
fully birthed; the wicked hearts are only being used to propel you
to your pre-ordained destiny; no use to wail in pain; no need to
avenge; vengeance belongs to God; Psalms 18:47, 94:1, Romans
12:19; arise and realise the purpose of God in your life; take a
giant step of faith towards a new destiny. Hold not anyone in heart
but forgive; for Jesus forgave all including those who mocked and
betrayed him (they did not know what they were doing); Luke 23:34.
Remember! when God is raising you; first He exalts your enemy
to roar victory over you and when he has fully encamped around
you; suddenly God releases heavenly Host of army to fight for
you for the Glory of His Name; and your later glory shall be
greater than the former; Haggai 2:6-9. Before the children of
Israel were delivered from Egypt, Pharaoh evil hand against
the children of Israel wax so mightily to enslave them; Exodus

chapter 5 & 6, this was just to ignite the hearts of the children of
Israel for a new journey to the land of Canaan; Exodus Chapter 14.
Always have the confidence that God has delivered you from
the striving of the people and has made you the head of the
heathen, a people whom you have not known shall serve you;
Psalms 18:43. As soon as they hear of you, they shall obey you;
the strangers shall submit themselves unto you Psalms 18:44.
And at that time, i will undo all that afflict thee and i will
save her that halteth and gather her that was driven out and
i will get them praise and fame in every land where they have
been put to shame. At that time will i bring you again even in
the time that i gather you; for i will make you a name and a
praise among all people of the earth, when i turn back your
captivity before your eyes, say the Lord Zephaniah 3:19-20.

9.0 THE GOOD SHEPHERDED

9.1 Who is the good shepherd?

I am the door, by me if any man enters in, he shall be saved
and shall go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes not
but to steal and to kill and to destroy, I am come that you might
have life and life in abundance; I am a good shepherd; the good
shepherd gives his life for the sheep; John 10:11, I am the good
shepherd; and know my sheep and I am known of mine John 10:14.
In 1Peter5:1-4, Peter commends the elders to feed the flock
of God which is among them; taking oversight thereof; not by
constrain but willingly, not to filthily lucre but of a leading
of mind and being examples to the flock. In verse 5-11, Peter
edifies the young likewise to submit themselves to the elders.
In John 21:15-17, three times Jesus asked Simon
Peter lovest thou me? Feed my flock but what is the
scenario today? The flock are feeding the shepherded; the
shepherds are on the receiving side with some degree of autocracy.
Now to you the shepherd of Gods heritage; take heed that
you feed the flock of God, not by the word only but by the
physical needs too; lay down yourself for the flock. TRUE WE
ARE THE LEVITES WITH NO APPORTIONMENTBUT THIS DOES
NOT MEAN EXPLOITATION OR ADJUDICATION OF DUTIES
OF A GOOD SHEPHERDED; we must turn back to the biblical truth and way of living; we should not behave like bosses
or hired shepherds, John 10:3-5, 12-13 but good shepherds.
9:2 Qualities of a good shepherd
A good shepherd is steadfast, Matthew 26:31, a servant
leader; Jesus in His Ministry tough His disciples the right
doctrine, 2Timothy 3:16, John 7:16-17. Jesus took time to
look for the lost flock Matthew 10: 5-8, 15;24, 18:11-13, Mark
2:17, Luke 9:56, 15:7, John 10:10. He sat down with His disciple; taught them, feed them and helped them to fish; John 6:115, Luke 5:1-11; He knew His sheep by name John 10:1, 3-5.

A good shepherd must bear fruits; every tree that beareth not fruits
is hewed down and cast in fire; Matthew 3:10 and whatsoever
you sow, you shall reap; Galatians 6:7, He who sows to his flesh
shall reap corruption but he that sowth to the Spirit shall reap
everlasting life; Galatians 6:8, ye shall know them by their fruits
Matthew 7:16-20, Luke 6:44, the Kingdom of Heaven shall be taken
away from you and given him that beareth fruits; Matthew 21:33-43.
A good shepherd must be blameless; husband to one wife,
vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to
teach, not given to wine, no sticker, not greedy of filthy lucre but
patient, not a brawler, not covetous, one that rules well his own
house, having his children in subject with all gravity; (for if a man
knows not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the
church of God?), not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride and
falls into condemnation of the devil; must be of a good report least
he falls into reproach and the snare of the devil; 1Timothy 3:1-7.
Likewise must the Deacons be grave; not double tongued,
not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre,
holding the mystery of faith in a pure conscience. Must use the
office of a Deacon being found blameless, even so must their
wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let
Deacons be husbands to one wife, ruling their children and
their own house well; must purchase themselves a degree of
great boldness in faith which is in Christ Jesus; 1Timoty 3:8-13.
An elder must not be rebuked but entreated as a father and
the young men as brethren, the elder women as mothers, the
younger as sisters with all purity; 1 Timothy 5:1-2. Let the
elders that rule well be counted worth of double honour
especially they who labour in the word and doctrine; 1Timothy 5:17.
And against the elder, receive not an accusation but before two or three
witness 1Timothy 5:9, them that sin, rebuke before all that others
also may fear; 1Timothy 5:20, lay hands suddenly on no man neither
be partakers of other mens sin; keep thyself pure; 1Timothy 5:22.

9.3 Roles and responsibilities of a good shepherd

The Pastor shall;
1. Lay down his life for the sheep; know his sheep by name and
should be known of his sheep; Isaiah 43:1, 49:16, John 10:15,9-10.
2. Feed the flock; physically and spiritually; John 21:14-17.
3. Ensure that the sheep are happy in their walk of salvation
and shall look for the lost sheep; Matthew 18:11-13, Luke 15:7,
John 6:1-15, Luke 5:1-11.
4. Ensure no devourer or stranger shall lure the sheep from his
walk of salvation.
5. Find green pasture for his sheep John 10:9-10.
The Elder shall;
1. Feed the flock taking oversight not by constraint but willingly, not for filthy lucre but of a ready mind neither as lords over
Gods heritage but by examples to the flock; 1 Peter 5:1-3.
2. Teach the word and guard the doctrine of Christ Jesus in the
church; 1 Timothy 5:17.
3. Be policy makers (board of governors) of the church and must
therefore be treated with double honour; 1 timothy 5:17.
4. With the resident pastor form the disciplinary committee of
the church; 1Timothy; 5:19-20
5. Ensure good welfare of the shepherds and deacons and shall
therefore be responsible for pastoral care and smooth running
of the church activities.
The deacon shall;
1. Submit himself to the elders and the shepherds; being
clothed with humility (for God resists the proud but gives grace
to the humble); 1 Peter 5:5.
2. Be the workers of the church; carrying on with administration, logistic and business.
3. Support pastors and elders in executing their duties and
shall perform all other duties as delegated by the shepherd or
an elder.

10.0 THE MASTER LORD JESUS CHRIST

10.1 Who is your Lord?

Today worldwide, born again Christians are found of
greeting; Praise the Lord
a few complete by saying
the LORD JESUS or THE LORD GOD, so are the gospel
artists when composing songs; they all end at Mukama (Lord).
But who is this Lord? Remember, even your husband/wife can
be lord to you including your cultural leaders and masters at
work places. The devils agents call their master Lucifer lord and
traditional leaders call their gods lord. So when you say praise
the Lord, which lord are you referring to? It is only written word
that can differentiate our big Lord from other lords but when
speaking, it is important to compete the Name Lord Jesus or
Lord God. So is the Name Jesus, some people have gone ahead
to name their children Jesus but to be identical with our master;
it is better we identify our Lord as Christ Jesus (of Nazareth).
My Lord therefore is God the Father in Heaven; the God of
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; God the father, God the Son and
God the Spirit. The Master Lord Jesus Christ is my Lord; He
is the Son of God, whom Himself is God; John Chapter 1.
Jesus did not have where to place His head; Matthew 8:20 but
in Him we have peace; John 14:27, 16:33, He is the author
and the finisher of faith; Hebrew 12:2, and the end of the law;
Romans 10:14, Galatians 2:21, 3:11-13, Matthew 5:17.
Whosever therefore shall confess Christ Jesus before man, he also
the Son will confess him before the Angels and God Father in Heaven
but he who denies; he also shall be died in Heaven; Luke 12:8-10.
10.2 Why the blood and the body of Christ Jesus
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it and
broke it and gave it to his disciples and said; Take eat; this is my
body which is given to you, do this in remembrance of me. And He
took the cup and gave thanks and gave it to them saying, Drink ye
all of it; for this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for
many for the remission of sins Matthew 26:26-28, Luke 22:17-20.

We take the body of Christ Jesus in memory of His agony on

the cross; the pain He bore on the cross for our sins, shame
and pain; in so doing, we become partakers of this pain that
we might die with Him in flesh and blood and resurrect with
Him in the Spirit for the glory of the Son of the most high;
Galatians 2:20, Romans 8:14-18. Likewise we drink His blood
that we might drink of His cup for the remission of sins.
On the other hand the blood of Jesus washes sins as
white as snow; Isaiah 1:18; it is for the purification and
sanctification of our mortal bodies. THE BLOOD OF JESUS
DOES NOT DEFEAT THE ENEMY BUT PROTECTS US FROM
THE ENEMY; Exodus Chap 12, but the full Armour of God
defeats the enemy; Ephesians 6:11-18. This is the reason we
call upon the blood of Jesus in times of trouble; it scatters the
enemy in every direction. And they overcame by the blood of the
Lamp and by the word of their testimony; Revelations 12:11.
Altar call: Having internalised all the above scriptures, I see no
reason to continue resisting your salvation; this is your day;
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, they
be red like crimson, they shall be as wool; Isaiah 1:18, Jesus is
calling all who are weary and heavy laden; Matthew 11:28-30.
Come now therefore before Him and reason with Him; say this pray;
LORD JESUS CHRIST; I COME BEFORE YOU THIS DAY,
FORGIVE MY SINS, BLOT MY NAME FROM THE BOOK OF
DARKNESS AND WRITE IT IN THE BOOK OF LIFE, ACCEPT ME
JUST THE WAY I AM AND COME INTO MY LIFE, I ACCEPT YOU
TODAY AS MY PERSONAL LORD AND SAVOIR, I AM SAVED
AND A NEW CREATION FROM THIS DAY HENCE FORTH. HOLY
SPIRIT COME AND BE MY GUIDE. THANK YOU LORD. AMEN.

11.0 DISCIPLESHIP AND BAPTISM

Now that you have confessed Lord Jesus as your personal Lord and
Saviour, you are saved; you have accepted Christ Jesus in your life.
The proceeding scriptures will guide you in your walk of salvation;
For by Grace we are saved; Ephesians 2:8, because all have sinned
and come short of Gods Glory; Romans 3:23, none is righteous;
Romans 3:10, if we say that we have no sin, we make Him a liar and
the truth is not in us; 1John 1:6-10, not by works of righteousness
which we have done but according to His mercies that we are saved.
He saved us by washing of regenerations and renewing of the
Holy Ghost; Titus 3:5 and gave His only begotten son that
whosoever believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life John 3:16. But as many as received Him, to them He gave
the power to became the sons of God, even to the that believe
on His name; John 1:12, therefore if any man be in Christ, he
is a new creature; the old things are passes away; behold, all
things are become new; 2Corinthians 5:17. Knowing this, that
our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might
be destroyed; that henceforth we should not serve sin, for he
that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be died with Christ,
we believe that we shall also live with Him; Romans 6:6-8.
This scripture shouldnt depart from your lips;I am crucified
with Christ, nevertheless i live; yet not i but Christ lives in me;
and the life which i now life in the flesh, i live by faith of the Son
of God who loved me and gave Himself for me Galatians 2:20.
Do not forget to search out your scriptures daily; Joshua 1:8,
Acts 17:11, knowing that; from the days of John the Baptist, the
Kingdom of heaven suffers violence and only the violent take it by
force Matthew 11:12. Go preach the gospel to all creatures and
he that believes and is baptised shall be saved; Matthew 28:19,
Mark 16:15-18, for with water, one is baptised unto repentance
and with Christ Jesus, one is baptised by the Holy Ghost and
with fire; Mathew 3:11. Except one is borne of the water and
of the spirit, he cannot see the Kingdom of God; John 3:5-6.

12.0 CHURCH LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT AND

ADMINISTRATION

12.1 Church Leadership

Leadership is the ability to inspire confidence and support among
people to achieve the required goal; it is an art of influencing people
by persuading, motivating or leading by example for a desired action.
Leadership is not having the authority of supervision or management but the ability to influence others to
follow you because they either like or admire or respect you.
Your position as a shepherd only gives you the authority to
accomplish certain tasks but does not necessary make you a
leader except you have the ability to influence (not to coarse) others.
A leader is chosen and approved by God; Exodus chapter 3.
Leadership started way back in the days of Moses and Aaron
represented by Aarons rod Exodus chapter 4; it is charismatic and
commands respect; Exodus chapter 7-12; it brings about peace,
victory and joy to the team and glorifies the Name of God; exodus
chapter 14. These significant outputs distinguish a leader from a boss.
Church leaders should therefore be selected by the guidance of God.
Qualities of a good leader
1. Strategic thinker
2. Agent of change; knowledge, attitude, individual behaviour
and group behaviour
3. Is enthusiastic and knowledgeable
4. Provides a vision and direction
5. Is a servant leader
6. Motivates his followers
7. Exemplary and demonstrates personal integrity; practices
what he
preaches
8. Is trustful and transparent
9. Gives support to others in execution of their duties
10.Recognises the efforts of individuals
11.Tolerates others and listens to individual ideas and problems

14.Knows individual personalities and has demonstrated

15.Is loyal, realistic and commands respect; people want to be

12.2 Church Management and administration
Management is the art or technique of getting things done through
or with others; it is goal oriented and involves planning, organising,
staffing, directing and controlling. Management includes administration; management is execution function while administration is
a determinative/thinking function. In other words; administration
is handled at top management levels or policy and decision making.
Difference between Management and Administration
Management

Administration

Getting things done through and with the people

Formulation of goals, objectives and policies

Is a doing/execution function

Is a thinking function

It includes administration

Does not include management

Makes decisions within frame work of administration

Makes the major policy decisions

Its decisions are influence by internal factors such as

values, beliefs and opinions

Its decisions are influenced by external factors such as

social, legal and political environment

The term management is widely used in the business

world

The term administration is often associated with governance policies

Management functions include; planning, organising, staffing,

directing and controlling
Planning is the process of deciding well in advance what
is to be done (where, when, how, why and by who). It is a
thinking management function that deals with decision making.
Planning determines how organised your ministry or church
service will be; it therefore requires adequate time. If church
activities are not properly planned then poor output is expected.
Organizing is concerned with development of structures; dividing
and coordinating tasks among individual and groups in various

By Gorreth Abrahams; Founder ENC Ministry

42

Knowledge in Gods service

departments. For effective and smooth running, a formal line of

authority (chain of command) should be established with a clear
span of control and resources allocation. Job descriptions and
qualifications should be clearly stipulated to avoid role conflict.
Staffing involves; selection, placement and orientation of
individual employee to their specific tasks. It also includes
training to develop their skills and potentials for improved
performance and consequently job satisfaction and quality output.
Directing involves telling people what to do and ensuring
that they do it according to plan; it links all other managerial
functions. It is concerned with guiding and inspiring the working
team to make better accomplishments. Direction is performance
oriented and is effectively achieved by ensuring these five elements;
communication, leadership, motivation, supervision and
coordination.
Controlling is the process of acquiring deliberate and purposeful
action to ensure compliance with plans, policies and procedures
for effective performance through monitoring, correction and
direction of activities.
Managerial roles; categorized into three; interpersonal, information, and decision making roles
Interpersonal managerial roles;
1. Figurehead; performing social and legal obligations, rapport
to visitors and signing legal documents
2. Leadership; the influential and inspirational ability on
subordinates to get things done.
3. Liaison; maintain network with outside contacts in order to
assess the external environment of competition, social change
or change in governance or rule/regulation/laws.
4. Team building.
Information role;
1. Protects the organisation/ministry and ensures purpose of
goal existence
2. Monitoring the environment; both internal and external

43

Knowledge in Gods service

environment.
3. Dissemination of information and providing feedback within
the organisational policies.
4. Spokes person for the organisation/ministry;attending
meetings,
making some demands, and lobbing for the organization.
Decision making roles;
1. Entrepreneur; continuously involves in improving
departments in
the ministry; sources for new ideas, new products and
improved
strategies.
2. Conflict resolution; solving both inter and intra personal
deference among subordinates.
3. Resource allocation; establishing priorities, making budgets,
assigning duties and advertising.
4. Negotiation; managers represent their organizations in
negotiation deals and makes agreements with outsiders.
For example; awarding of contracts, partnership and sale of
organizational assets.
Note: Good management is significant in goals achievement,
crucial in maximising resources, reducing communication
gaps and in conflict resolution. It is therefore VERY VITAL TO
DISTINGUISH MINISTRY MANAGEMENT FROM CHURCH
LEADERSHIP. For purposes of protection (in case of
prosecution) IT IS NOT GOOD TO INVOLVE CHURCH
LEADERS IN MANAGERIAL ROLES. Let church leaders
concentrate on being good shepherds and an independent noble team
be appoint into management. This preserves the reputation of the
shepherds especially in areas where negotiation or conflict is involved.
12.3 Conflict management
Conflict is an inevitable by product of interpersonal dealings; it is
antagonistic interaction which is based on scarcity of power, resources, and differences in values. There are two categories of conflict;
1. Dysfunctional (destructive) conflict which traditionally is
known to be bad, harmful and must be avoided

By Gorreth Abrahams; Founder ENC Ministry

44

Knowledge in Gods service

2. Functional (constructive) conflict; human relations view conflict

as a natural occurrence and an inevitable outcome of any group
which cannot be avoided but rather should be accepted as part
of life and sometimes benefit to the groups. Interactionist argue
that a group which is kept peaceful, tranquil and cooperative is
prone to become static, apathetic and non responsive to change
and innovations. Minimum level of conflict should be maintained
for group performance because it enhances self control, ability to compete for resources and keeps it vibrant and creative.
Triggers of conflict
Poor leadership
Unrealistic structures, policies and procedures
Ambiguous jurisdiction
Completion for power and resources
Communication breakdown
Time pressure
Unrealistic expectations
Differences in values, status, interests and priorities
Conflict resolution
Designing super ordinate goals
Team building towards a common goal
Tracing and resolving the source of conflict
Expansion of resources
Smoothing (playing down) the conflict
Letting the antagonist parties compete
Accommodating the conflict
Restructuring the organisational structure
Redesigning job descriptions
Transferring or repositioning the conflicting parties
Altering human variables (attitude and behaviour)
12.4 Time management
Time is a unique and limited (only 24 hrs a day) resource different from others (Money, Machinery, Men). Despite the uniqueness and limitedness, time is the most wasted resource in Africa
and Uganda in particular; a great deal of economic retardation
arises from time wastage. Some scholars have postulated that

By Gorreth Abrahams; Founder ENC Ministry

45

Knowledge in Gods service

the African concept and attitude towards time management is

inherent and cultural. In Uganda, while as the heathen idol in
social groups (drinking/pork joints, discos and outings), Born
again Christians meddle in fellowships the whole day. This
has affected the socio- economic growth and development of
the said individuals, families and the country and consequently contributing to increase in the gap between the rich and the
poor. It is therefore VERY IMPORT FOR THE SHEPHERDS TO
ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF TIME MANAGEMENT IN CHURCHES
and the church itself should be exemplary in time management.
I dont understand services that go up to three hours or more
except in cases of seminars, conference or something else.
If a church is truly organised, a service of two hours is ideal
(40 minutes true praise & worship, 20 minutes praying, 40
minutes the Word and 20 minutes other things; testimony,
offertory and announcements). Intercession can be done
independent of the services preferably at day break before the
first service. CHURCH WE NEED TO STYLE UP AND INSTIL
A DEVELOPMENTAL MIND IN THE LIVES OF THE FLOCK.
Ten hints in effective time management in church
1. Be knowledgeable in Gods service
2. Concentrate on the majors
3. Weigh priorities
4. Minimize interruptions and stay focused
5. Learn to say no
6. Delegate where feasible
7. Improve your filling and data management system
8. Schedule similar tasks together
9. Avoid dead time within the service (common in change of
programme)
10. Screen testimonies
12.5 Motivation
Motivation is the set of processes that arouse and maintain
human behaviour towards attaining the set goal; it accounts for
an individuals intensity, direction and perseverance of efforts.
Motivation is significant in job satisfaction, high performance
and consequently realization of organizational goals. It reduces

employee turnover, absenteeism, grievance and maintains good

feel valued.
Humanistic psychologists, such as Abraham Maslow and Carl R.
Rogers are concerned with maximizing the human potential for
self-direction and freedom of choice (Maslow, 1968; Rogers, 1970).
One of the key concepts advanced by Maslow is the hierarchy of
needs. Maslow felt that human beings have certain basic needs
that must be met before they can fulfil their other developmental
needs. At the bottom of Maslows pyramid are the fundamental
requirements to satisfy Physiological needs (food, water, shelter,
sex, clothing, and medical attention). Next are Safety needs (to
feel secure, safe and out of danger). Maslow identifies these two
bottom needs as fundamental needs. Next are social needs
(a sense of belonging and love), the Esteem needs (need of
achievement, competence, approval and recognition). At the top of
the pyramid, he placed the need to realize ones unique potential
to the fullest; he termed this self-actualization. Maslow recognises
Esteem needs and Self actualisation as a set of psychological needs.

12.7 Delegation
Delegation is an act of assigning specific task with a
degree of formal authority for decision making to a
subordinate having relevant skills and knowledge in the
tasked to be performed. The person delegated to must be
given the authority and degree of freedom to execute his duties
without interference except the responsible person is consulted.
Delegation is to the subordinate not to the superior. It does not
include abdication of responsibilities but rather the holder of
position remains accountable. Sensitive areas like signing cheques,
documents and utilization of financial resources must be done in
consultation with position holder. The delegated person must not
take advantage to seize authority from his superior but should
work in loyalty, respect and trust not to destroy the reputation
of the superior. The holder of position must be ready to tolerate
mistakes knowing that this is a learning opportunity of the
delegated person but not to terminate his duties in case of any mistake.
Delegation; was first invented by Jethro; Moses father-in-law;
Exodus 18:13-24. Lack of delegation is not good; verse 17; it
wears down; verse 18.
