Asyouhaveprobablyfoundoutalreadythereareagreatnumberofmethodsoutthere
todrawtheSriYantra.Mostofthemareverypoorandwillproduceafigurewith
mistakesatmanyofthetripleintersections.Youshouldknowthat,atleastintheoryit
isnotpossibletodrawaperfectSriYantra.Thereisalwayssomelittlemistakeevenif
itcan'tbeseenonthedrawing.
Thismethodensuresthattherewillbemistakesatonlytwoofthenodes,whichis
theminimumamountofmistakespossiblewhendrawingthisfigure.Thismethodwill
notnecessarilyproduceanoptimalSriYantra.ForamethodtodrawtheoptimalSri
Yantrapleasegohere.Thegoalofthispageistoshowthepropersequenceinwhich
thelinesshouldbedrawn.
TheSriYantrageometryhasfivedegreesoffreedom.Inotherwordsyouwillhaveto
decideontheplacementoffivelinestoconstructthefigure.
Theamountofmistakeintheresultingfigurewilldependonwhereyouhavelocated
thesefivelines.Iftheresultingfigurehasabigerror(twoextraneoustriangles)you
willhavetogobackandchangethelocationofsomeofthelinesandstartover.
IfyouwanttoexperimentwiththeSriYantrawithoughavingtodrawittrythe

ThegreenlinesarethekeylinesthatdefinetheSriYantra.Theyarenotunique,inthe
sensethatotherlinescouldbeselected.Buttherewillalwaysbe5specificpointsto
definetheSriYantra.Thisissimilartoanequationwithfivevariablesorfivedegrees
offreedom..Youneedtochoosevalues(positions)forthesefivevariablesto
completelydefineit'sshape.Bychoosingdifferentpositionsfortheselinesyouwillend
upwithdifferentSriYantraconfigurations.

pointisusuallywherethebaseofatrianglemeetstheverticalaxis.Newreference

Line5isthelastlinethatisneededtofinishtheSriYantra.Thereisnorealobviouswayto
knowwhereitshouldgootherthanbytrialanderror.Ofcoursethiscanbeprogrammedand
calculatedbutthisisbeyoundthepurposeofthispage.Inthisexamplethe5thandlastlineis
veryclosetoit'sidealpositionsotheerrorinthefinalfigureisverysmall.Ifitisdrawn
higherorlowertheerrorwillincreaseproportionally.Wewillshowlaterwheretheerror
showsup.
