Author Information
Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson is Senior Policy Advisor at the Broadbent Institute and the Packer Visiting Professor of
Social Justice at York University. His research focuses on the labour market, issues surrounding income
distribution and poverty, macro-economic policy, social policy, and the impact of globalization on
workers. His book, _ Work and Labour in Canada_ (CSPI, 2010), has become an essential text on
labour issues. Jackson is the author of numerous scholarly articles, five books, and is a regular
contributor to _The Globe and Mail_. In 2011, he was awarded the Sefton Prize by the University of
Toronto for his contribution to industrial relations. Jackson has previously held positions at the Institute
of Political Economy at Carleton University, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, the School of
Policy Studies at Queens University, the Canadian Council on Social Development, and with the
Canadian Labour Congresswhere he served as Chief Economist and Director of Social and
Economic Policy from 1989 to 2012.
