Operations
2. Patterns,
Functions, and
Algebraic Structures
3. Analysis,

Geometric
Relationships

EXAMPLE: Teacher
collects data from class
about what website they
want to use to create an
ePortfolio, then uses that
data as a statistic and
represents in a graph.
STANDARD: Visual
displays are used to
represent data

EXAMPLE: Students
use different shapes
that they have learned
about to decorate
their website and
make the page look
visually appealing.
They must describe
shapes geometrically.
STANDARD:
Geometric figures in
the plane and in space

Reading, Writing, and Communicating

1. Oral Expression
and Listening

2. Reading for All

Purposes
3. Writing and
Composition

EXAMPLE: Students
must physically plan
their writing before
publishing it on their
website. It is
important to sound
professional and
accurate on a public
domain.
STANDARD: A clear
communication plan is
necessary to
effectively deliver and
receive information

EXAMPLE: Teacher
provides examples of
correct and professional
grammar to use on their
websites.
STANDARD: Correct
sentence formation,
grammar, punctuation,
capitalization, and
spelling are applied to
make the meaning clear
to the reader

UnderstandingStudents plan
their writing
before putting it
on their website
to ensure they
know what
exactly they are
supposed to be
doing and what
they are going
to write.

Remembering
Teacher reminds
students of
basic grammar
and punctuation
rules to use
when publishing
their work.

4. Research and
Reasoning
Social Studies

Students
write different
ideas they
want to write
about on
separate
pieces of
paper. They
arrange these
pieces of
paper on their
desks to
determine the
best order to
write their
ideas in.

1. History

2. Geography

EXAMPLE: Teachers write

several biographies of
different Coloradan
historians on their
websites to demonstrate
how to insert pictures
(portraits of the
historians).
STANDARD: The historical
eras, individuals, groups,
ideas, and themes in
Colorado history and their
relationships to key
events in the United
States

Understanding
Teacher
describes how
to put pictures
onto a website
to allow
students this
option in the
future.

EXAMPLE: Students
use geographical
terms to describe the
geography of their
neighborhoods.
STANDARD: Use
several types of
geographic tools to
answer questions
about the geography
of Colorado

ApplyingTeacher uses
information the
class has
previously
learned about
historians in
their
biographies.
EvaluatingStudents assess
what kind of
environment
their
neighborhood is
and use
knowledge of
geography to
describe it.

Students
listen to a
podcast at
home to
learn about
different
geographic

vocabulary
words. This
way, they
can keep
these terms
in their
mind as
they drive,
take the
bus, or
walk to
school. In
the

classroom,
they can
describe
different
geographic
al
landmarks
they
passed that
morning
using the
terms from
the
podcast.
3. Economics
4. Civics
Science
1. Physical Science
EXAMPLE: Students
create columns on
their website to
compare and contrast
characteristics of
living organisms.
STANDARD: All living
things share similar
characteristics, but
they also have
differences that can
be described and
classified

2. Life Science

3. Earth Systems
Science

EXAMPLE: Teacher
uploads a video on their
website of the solar
system and what all
contributes to it.
STANDARD: Earth is part
of the solar system, which

Gifted/ Talented

If a student has a motor

disability and is unable to
successfully use a
computer to create a
website, the teacher could
help the student create
their page with the
students direction. For
example, the teacher
could move the mouse
while the student tells
them where to move it.
Students who are
gifted/talented have
lots of flexibility in
their website and can
make it as complex as
they choose. They can
choose to make
multiple tabs and use
as many visual effects
as they deem
necessary.

Reflection: ePortfolios, or online websites, are a great tool to use in the classroom. They allow the teacher to keep tabs on what
each student is learning, and how each one is progressing throughout the year. Online websites also provide a resource for
parents and other teachers to see what your class is doing each day. In this progressing world of technology, it is important to
equip students with knowledge that will help them excel in their future career. Learning how to effectively create a website,

especially while learning grade-appropriate content at the same time, is something that will greatly benefit all students. I can
definitely see myself using ePortfolios in my future classroom because it is great way to make lessons more engaging and hands
on.
