EXAMPLE: Teacher
collects data from class
about what website they
want to use to create an
ePortfolio, then uses that
data as a statistic and
represents in a graph.
STANDARD: Visual
displays are used to
represent data
EXAMPLE: Students
use different shapes
that they have learned
about to decorate
their website and
make the page look
visually appealing.
They must describe
shapes geometrically.
STANDARD:
Geometric figures in
the plane and in space
CreateStudents
construct
shapes that
they have
learned about
and put them
on their website
or portfolio
Students
create
shapes
using
Excel to
put on
their
website.
Flipped
Classroom
EXAMPLE: Students
must physically plan
their writing before
publishing it on their
website. It is
important to sound
professional and
accurate on a public
domain.
STANDARD: A clear
communication plan is
necessary to
effectively deliver and
receive information
EXAMPLE: Teacher
provides examples of
correct and professional
grammar to use on their
websites.
STANDARD: Correct
sentence formation,
grammar, punctuation,
capitalization, and
spelling are applied to
make the meaning clear
to the reader
UnderstandingStudents plan
their writing
before putting it
on their website
to ensure they
know what
exactly they are
supposed to be
doing and what
they are going
to write.

rules to use
when publishing
their work.

Students
write different
ideas they
want to write
about on
separate
pieces of
paper. They
arrange these
pieces of
paper on their
desks to
determine the
best order to
write their
ideas in.

Understanding
Teacher
describes how
to put pictures
onto a website
to allow
students this
option in the
future.
EXAMPLE: Students
use geographical
terms to describe the
geography of their
neighborhoods.
STANDARD: Use
several types of
geographic tools to
answer questions
about the geography
of Colorado
ApplyingTeacher uses
information the
class has
previously
learned about
historians in
their
biographies.
EvaluatingStudents assess
what kind of
environment
their
neighborhood is
and use
knowledge of
geography to
describe it.
Students

using the
terms from
the
podcast.

Science
1. Physical Science
EXAMPLE: Students
create columns on
their website to
compare and contrast
characteristics of
living organisms.
STANDARD: All living
things share similar
characteristics, but
they also have
differences that can
be described and
classified

EXAMPLE: Teacher
uploads a video on their
website of the solar
system and what all
contributes to it.

Reflection: ePortfolios, or online websites, are a great tool to use in the classroom. They allow the teacher to keep tabs on what
each student is learning, and how each one is progressing throughout the year. Online websites also provide a resource for
parents and other teachers to see what your class is doing each day. In this progressing world of technology, it is important to
equip students with knowledge that will help them excel in their future career. Learning how to effectively create a website,
especially while learning grade-appropriate content at the same time, is something that will greatly benefit all students. I can
definitely see myself using ePortfolios in my future classroom because it is great way to make lessons more engaging and hands
on.
