On 4/24/16 at approximately 2355 hours Officer Holmes attempted to conduct a traffic stop at N 19th and Ave G on
a Red Chrysler (FL Tag# DWBT66). At 2358 hours, Sergeant MacNaught advised dispatch shots had been fired.
Officer Holmes then advised Sergeant MacNaught had been dragged by the suspect vehicle.
Upon arrival I made contact with Officer Holmes who was located south of Ave G. Holmes was limping and stated
Sergeant MacNaught had been dragged further south by the suspect vehicle. Multiple units arrived on scene and
established a perimeter beginning on Ave G and N 19th and ending on 19th and Ave D. My visual observation of the
scene revealed that the suspect vehicle was located facing south bound on N. 19th Street, on the roadway, in front
of the residence at 515 N 19th St. The suspect male, later identified as Demarcus Semer, was located in the western
yard of the residence. Rescue arrived on scene and pronounced Semer deceased at 0007 hours. My visual
observation revealed Semer had at least 1 gunshot wound to the chest.
Officer Quiles conducted a neighborhood canvass of the scene ( see officer Quiles supplement for addresses and
contact names). Officer Quiles also collected pictures of the suspect vehicle, Semer, and the residence at 515 N 19th
St. Officer Kirkus maintained a crime scene log of the incident.
SGT McDem1ott responded to the scene. CID was notified. SGT Christman, SGT Grecco, DIC Amandro, DIC
Norris, Investigator Borthland Murray, Chief Robley-Burney responded to the scene. St.Lucie County Sheriffs
Office detectives arrived on scene to take over the investigation (see SO case# 1604657). The scene was processed
by the St. Lucie County Sheriffs Office crime scene team.
