INTRODUCTIONOnline food ordering is a process of ordering food from a local restaurant or food cooperative
through a web page or app. Much like ordering consumer goods online, many of these allow
customers to keep accounts with them in order to make frequent ordering convenient. A
customer will search for a favourite restaurant, usually filtered via type of cuisine and choose
from available items, and choose delivery or pick-up or to take reservations. Payment can be
amongst others either by credit card or cash, with the restaurant returning a percentage to the
online food company
Ballyhoo Today is a hyper-local that helps you find the best deals on
restaurants, pubs, breweries, night life and much more around you, just when you want. Find
a deal that catches your fancy, pay for it through the app, and go to the merchant location to
redeem it.Ballyhoo.today is a podium designed to enrich real life experiences of people
eating and parties by making them more interactive and fun at an affordable price due to deep
discounts being offered by our partner businesses.
Businesses have the benefit of targeting customers in immediate
proximity to them that are interested in their offering. Our-end to-end and highly costeffective offering for small businesses, leverages location based hyper-local targeted
advertising options to provide the right offers to right individuals at the right time.

A study on merchants satisfaction towards the Ballyhoo.today services in Bangalore .

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Improving merchants satisfaction is the critical component in the online food industry .
Consequently online food industry is growing very fast all over the world and in India also .
With an understanding of what causes the merchants to stay on Ballyhoo.today , can act to
increase their loyalty towards this app

OBJECTIVES

To evaluate the merchant satisfaction from the services offered by Ballyhoo.today

To study the merchant preference towards online food industry.

To study the impact on sales through the app of the restaurant.

OF THE SCOPE STUDY


Ballyhoo.today being the start-up company in the online food industry ,where in this industry
already there is a high competition . Ballyhoo.today is operating their business in Bangalore
only as of know and their office is located in JP Nagar, Bangalore . The study focuses on the
merchants satisfaction and their preferences towards the company. It is a cross sectional study
conducted at one point of time, i.e. during 4th of july2016 to 4th august 2016.

Apple iPhone in Bangalore
Target population:
All iPhone users in Bangalore
Sample units:
Customers from different areas, Bangalore.
Sampling plan:
Non-probability sampling - Convenience sampling.
Data collection:
Primary source by usage of questionnaire.
Evaluating data: Editing and coding.

Limitation of the study:

The study is restricted to the some areas of the Bangalore only i.e. JP nagar , MG road
Bigrade road and Koramangla
Convenience sampling method is used

by merchants on zomato which is 30%, 14% from Tinyowl, 10% from swiggy and 10% from
others

Inference: Most of the merchants preferred Ballyhoo.Today app because merchants find
it more convenient than other apps.

Interpretation:

80% of the merchants rated its Tariff Plan as Low where as 10% rated
as average and 10% rated similar when compared to other companies like zomato,
Foodpanda, Tinyowl and little app.

Inference: Maximum percentage of merchants rated Ballyhoo tariff plans as low because
of affordable plans provided by the company to merchants which they found it more
favourable.

Interpretation: According to the study conducted 30% of the merchants are


agreed that the app is user friendly and easy to operate, when analyzed in category-2
40% merchants strongly disagree and finds the app as waste of time, 36% says it can
be used sometimes and 32% finds it is not at all difficult to use.

Inference: Mixed reviews found in different categories by the merchants. Some


finds it difficult to use it while others find it feasible, it depends on the attitude of
merchants how they are going to utilize the app.

Interpretation- According to the study 84% of Merchants said Yes they are
highly satisfied with the good behaviour shown by sales people from Ballyhoo.Today
and 16% were unsatisfied.

Inference: It can be seen from the above statistics that maximum merchants are
satisfied with the services and support provided by the sales people are remarkable.

Interpretation: 90% said Yes that it will make the system more efficient
where as 10% merchants does not feel the same.

Inference: It can be seen that Ballyhoo has made it convenient for merchants by
building a better relationship with the existing as well as new customers

Interpretation- According to the study conducted 30% of the merchants like


features of the app, 24% merchants like design and looks of the app, 20% gave
importance to functionality, 16% liked content and remaining 10% preferred
navigation.

Inference: Maximum percentage of merchants goes with the features and


specifications of the app followed by design and functionality and other features

Interpretation- 48% merchants had no issues while using the app, 26% said
they were experiencing some bugs and viruses, 16% found the app difficult to use and

confusing, 4% was unhappy with the design and appeal of the app and rest 6% had
other issues.

Inference- Maximum percentage of Merchants are said that app works perfectly
fine for them, some merchants were not satisfied while operating the app

Interpretation- 16% merchants said that there was late payment from
company, 20% face an issue of customers not arriving for their ordered food, 50% merchants
had no issues and 7% had some other issues related to online food order.
Inference- Half of the merchants faced no issues regarding online food order and rest of
the merchants faced some other issues.

Interpretation- 22% of merchants were neutral when asked to rate the app, 24% were
satisfied, 10% were highly satisfied, 12% said that they were dissatisfied and remaining 10%
are highly dissatisfied.

Inference- Close to 50% of the merchants remain neutral when asked to rate

Findings
Bangalore is also called foodies paradise because of vast variety of foods and eatables
available with a touch of uniqueness and tradition. Popular cuisines in Bangalore includes
traditional vegetarian (south Indian & North Indian, Chinese, Thai, Arabic (Mughlai &
Hyderabadi).
A survey done by Ballyhoo. Today states that Bangalore being the Silicon Valley of India
with a large population of young working professionals beats other cities when it comes to
ordering food in peak hours between 2-3pm, 9-11pm, 2-3pm with 18 percent of the total
orders across major areas coming from the city.
The survey also reveals that

o 90% of the people think that Ballyhoo.today could make the system beneficial
70% of the merchants dont have any queries related to the concept

o Merchants finds Ballyhoo Tariff plans favourable when compared to their


competitors
o The number of walk-in customers per day in targeted restaurants averages
from 150-300 customers/day when asked to the merchants.
o Peak hours of home delivery are from 12-2pm in week days and 7-9pm or 912pm in weekends.
o The areas from which they get maximum no of Home delivery is from Bschools and areas within its 3 km
o Maximum percentage of Merchants were satisfied with the attitude and
behaviour of sales people.
o Most of the Merchants did not face any sort of issue during the online food
ordering.
o Approximately 50% of the merchants were perfectly fine and comfortable in
operating the app as they like the design and convenience of the application.
o Zomato is the app with which Ballyhoo is tied up with

Recommendations

When it comes to Merchants, they are more attracted towards the features and
specifications of the app which enables them to get the orders as quickly as possible
Ballyhoo focuses on Marketing activities that will create interest in students towards
the app.

Marketing activities in PGs, Business parks and colleges will be effective in catching
attention of more students and working individuals.

Marketing activities need to be extensive and more effective as a large no of


merchants utilize the app and apparently there is a lot of scope of people who can use
the app.

Marketing activities such as big hoardings, posters etc, stickers, memes, if displayed
by the merchants will attract more and more customers and also people will get
awareness about the app.
