of your time to read and answer the survey forms we provided.
A Very Special thanks to Dr. Hizon for the statistical support she has
given. You helped us see things clearly with regards to the interpretation of
such data. Your help made a pile of numbers understandable.
We, the researchers, express our genuine thanks to each other.
Though this thesis gave us so much stress, there comes a time of having
misunderstanding and argumentation yet we overcome those obstacles
through regular discussion. We tried to cheer up when someone was about to
give up and we helped and motivated each other to continue our journey until
the completion of this research. We werent only able to support each other
by deliberating over our problems but also to talk about things other than just
our papers. We thank each other for always being there as a listening ear and
for sharing with our highs and lows of research.
Last but not the least, we would like to thank our family for the
unending support by all means. Thank you for the sympathetic ear and for
always being there for us. Your patience, understanding, and words of
encouragement motivated us to keep going.

This study sought to determine the relationship between the learning

preferences and the academic achievement of the Bachelor of Secondary
Education students of Rizal College of Laguna during Academic Year 2016
2017.
The following problems was given considered and later given solutions
as well: (1) How do the learning preferences of the second year and third year
BSE students of Rizal College of Laguna be described in terms of

psychological, physiological, and sociological aspects? (2) What is the level of

academic performance of the second year and third year BSE students during
AY 2015-2016? (3) Is there a significant relationship between the learning
preferences and academic performance of the second year and third year
BSE students of Rizal College of Laguna?
A descriptive research design was utilized in this study considering the
twenty-nine (29) student-respondents from the second year and third year BS
Education department of Rizal College of Laguna which were taken using the
purposive-convenience sampling technique.
In order to describe the learning preferences of the studentrespondents in terms of the three (3) aspects, weighted mean was utilized.
On the other hand, averaging was used to measure the level of academic
achievement of the respondents. Finally, to determine the relationship
between the two variables, Pearson- Correlation was imposed.
It was found out that the students perceptions in sociological
aspects yield an overall mean of 3.86 which means that they often preferred
sociological learning. On the same manner, the physiological aspect of
learning was also often preferred by the students based on the overall mean
perceptions of 3.84. Similarly, the psychological aspect of learning was also
often preferred by the students based on the overall mean of 4.33. I terms of

the relationship between the variables, the results of the test yields a weak
negative correlation between students academic performance and learning
preferences in terms of sociological aspects (r = -0.01) and physiological
aspects (r = -0.24) while a moderate negative correlation was found between
students academic performance and learning preferences in terms of
psychological aspects (r = -0.41). It was also established that the two
variables were significantly correlated, since the r value is greater that the
tabular value of 0.37 and its probability (p) value is less than the level of
significance at o .05.
Therefore, it was found out that the sociological, physiological and
psychological aspects are often preferred learning preferences by the
students; that as a learning preference, working with others is the only
preference that continuously practice by BSE students; that more than half of
the BSE students show good academic performance based on their grade
point average (GPA) of school year 2015-2016; that there is a significant
moderate correlation between the learning preferences in terms of
psychological aspects and the academic performance of the BSE students.
