ICT can increased knowledge of school subject, improve attitudes about learning
and the acquisition of new skills needed for the development economy. it can also
help to close the gender gap ,developed the teachers technology skill and
knowledge of new pedagogical approaches. Developed the habit of positive
thinking, it deepen the concept of partnership and networking with others ,fist of all
it is possible that children will use computer together which will enhance their
interaction with each others if teachers assignment , join project where children
work in groups of two or more then the interaction of individuals remains in the
framework of doing work.
It creates a leaner to work and practice and even exploratory learning and they
achieve a fair amount of entertainment and recreation. ICT also enables educators
and learners to broaden their information horizon in order to affect constructive
discussion in the classroom situation.
South Africa has got two projects that want to be online with Kozma views, that
ICT must have positive impact on learners, educators and community namely
Gauteng online and Khanya project.
Gauteng online: it does not have a positive impact on student knowledge, skill
and attitude but unfortunately it lack in bringing changes in teaching practices as
only few teachers are trained in computer literacy.
• Theft, broken computer and fail internet connection are just some of the
problems the GSSC has failed to fix over the year.
• The Governors Alliance will no longer support the project.
• The Governors Alliance which represents 384 schools across the Gauteng
area says the project is failing.
• The Governors Alliance say the principal are not impressed with the project,
no ones impressed.
• The GSSC did not introduce some measures to deal with increasing cases of
theft, these have not been effective.
While on the other hand Khanya has gone further than just providing computer
technology for the sake of making Learners computer literate, it has developed a
unique model for sustainability which is based on the principle of partnership,
particularly with community and micro organization. The Khanya project is an
initiative of the Western Cape Education department .It was established in April
2001 to determine the contribution that technology could make towards addressing
the increasing shortage of educator capacity in schools. With many educators
leaving the profession, few ones entering it, t was necessary to explore alterative .
