Introduction:
O Emerging technologies are technologies that are perceived as capable of
changing the status quo. These technologies are generally new but include
older technologies that are still controversial and relatively undeveloped in
potential.
O Emerging technologies are those technical innovations which represent
progressive developments within a field.

Impact of Emerging Technologies

Some of latest technologies are
O Artificial Intelligence(AI) Biometrics
O Vision Enhancement
O Robotics
O Virtual Reality
O Computer Assisted Translation (CAT)

Artificial Intelligence Biometrics

O Artificial Intelligence (AI) biometrics overcome this problem using dynamic
profiling the system learns by using AI about a persons fingerprint on
every scan.
O The word biometrics comes from the Greek words bios (life) and
metrikos (measure). Strictly speaking, it refers to a science involving the
statistical analysis of biological characteristics.
O Biometric recognition offers a promising approach for security applications.

Vision Enhancement
O Low vision enhancement systems (LVES) use video technology through a
headset connected to a computer.
O The system allows images to be projected inside the headset in front of the
eyes.
O Biometric recognition offers a promising approach for security applications.
O Night Vision enhancement (NVE) amplifies infrared light and visible light
so that an image can still be seen in apparent darkness.

Robotics
O Robots are used to perform a wide range of physical tasks.
O They are either automated (controlled by a computer chip) or manually
controlled by a human.
O Robots are increasingly being used in manufacturing due to their proven
increase in productivity.
O Robots can work 24/7 and never need to take breaks. They also do not
require wages like humans do.
This means that robots can produce more at a lower cost.

Virtual Reality
O Virtual reality is where computers are used to create an artificial
environment that users can interact with as if it were real.
O The definition of virtual reality comes, naturally, from the definitions for
both virtual and reality.

O Reality is simply a combination of sensory information and our brains sensemaking mechanisms for that information.
O So, in summary, virtual reality entails presenting our senses with a computer
generated virtual environment that we can explore in some fashion.

Computer Assisted Translation

O CAT is where a human translator uses computer software to help in the
translation process.
O CAT software can reduce the amount of time that the translation takes.
O Current CAT tools are not always 100% accurate. They need a human to
check for errors.
O This makes accessing other languages much easier than in the past and
makes it easier for people to learn these new languages.
