Baby/Toddler Dress Pattern

12 mths (2 yrs, 3 yrs)

Materials:
5mm hook
1 (2,3) 100g balls Stylecraft Special DK in main colour choice
1 100g ball Stylecraft Special DK in contrast colour choice
(Any DK weight yarn should work for this patern.)
Special Stitch Instructions (as done in this pattern):
Scallop- [2dc, 1ch, 2dc] all in same st
Shell- 5dc all in same st
Cluster- [YO, insert hook into st indicated, YO, draw up a loop about 1cm] 4 times, YO and
draw through all 9 loops on hook. Ch1 to secure cluster.
*Beginning Cluster- Pull up a loop about 1 cm (about the length of a treble crochet), [YO,
insert hook into st indicated, YO, draw up a loop about 1cm] 3 times, YO and draw through
all 9 loops on hook. Ch1 to secure cluster.

Pattern:
Yoke
Ch61 (61, 69)
Row 1: Htr in 3rd ch from hook and in next 5 (5, 6) sts, 3htr in next st, *htr in next 14 (14,
16) sts, 3htr in next st; rep from * twice more, htr in last 7 (7, 8) sts, turn.
Row 2: 2ch (counts as 1st htr here and throughout), htr in each st across, working 3htr in
centre st of each 3-htr corner group, turn.
Rows 3-7 (3-8, 3-9): Repeat Row 2.
Rd 8 (9, 10): Join with sl st and work same as Row 2 but in the Rd.
Rd 9 (10, 11): Change to CC yarn. Work a beginning cluster in the first st, *sk next st, cluster
in next st; rep. from * around. Join to first cluster with sl st. Do Not Turn.
Rd 10 (11, 12): (armholes) Change to MC yarn. 2ch, htr in each sp and cluster across to first
corner, sk next clusters to second corner, htr in next cluster, continue htr across in each sp
and cluster to third corner, sk next clusters to fourth corner, htr in next corner and continue
across back.
Skirt
Rd 1: 3ch (counts as 1st dc here and throughout), [1dc, 1ch, 2dc] in same st, sk next st,
*scallop in next st, sk next st; rep from * around, join to first dc with slst.
Rd 2: Slst across to 1st ch sp, 3ch, [1dc, 1ch, 2dc] in same st, scallop in each remaining scallop
around, join to first dc with slst.
Rds 3-20 (3-24, 3-29): Repeat Rd 2.
Rd 21 (25, 30): Change to CC yarn. Slst across to 1st ch sp, 3ch, 4dc in same st, shell in each
remaining scallop around, join with sl st to first dc.
Fasten off
Neck
Rejoin CC yarn to bottom of opening at back of yoke.
Ch1, sc evenly up right side. At top of side, [1sc, 1ch, 1sc] in top st, continue with sc evenly
around neck and back down other side of back opening.
Attach a button on the opposite side of ch sp made for fastening.
Cluster Stitch Layered Flower
Materials:
5mm for small flowers (baby sized dresses) // 6mm for larger flowers (toddler sized dresses)
A small bit of each MC and CC yarn
Bottom Layer
Using CC, make a Magic Ring for 5 sc. Slst to join rd.
*[Ch 3, Cluster st, ch 3, sl st] into same st, sl st into next st; rep. from * around. (5 petals)
Fasten off leaving a medium length tail.
Top Layer
Using CC, make a Magic Ring for 5 sc. Slst to join rd.
Change to MC. (Turn flower because RS is on opposite side.)
*[Ch 3, Cluster st, ch 3, sl st] into same st, sl st into next st; rep. from * around. (5 petals)
Fasten off leaving a long tail.

Sew Top Layer onto Bottom Layer making the petals of the Bottom Layer show between the petals
of the Top Layer. Attach to dress.
