1.0 Organizers
English Practical Teachers of DTESL from Management and Science
University (MSU)
2.0 Introduction
Management and Science University have sent us to Sekolah
Kebangsaan Seri Selangor to perform our practicum here. We are
required to complete two projects which is major project and minor project.
Therefore, we would like to propose an idea to conduct a Creative Story
Writing competition to Year 5 students. The theme is to initiate interest in
English Language among the students through this competition.
3.0 Aim
We believe that short story is one of the most exciting and important
literary forms, and that it is very beneficial for English Language learners.
Our aim is to give the students opportunity to create a story presented as
a picture or story book using their own creativity. Student will also be able
to develop further understanding and appreciation for English Language
art through this competition.

4.0 Objectives
Below are some objectives of the program:
a. Cultivating students' interest in English.
b. Encourage students to use English as the language of instruction.
c. Provide opportunities for students to feel joy and spaciousness when
engaging in activities in English.

d. Provide students with the opportunity to express their ideas through

story writing.
e. Enable students to understand and appreciate story writing.
5.0 Rationale
1. Writing a story encourage use of imagination and creativity. Not only is
this fun for young learner to do, but it also allows the learner to practice
how to think outside of the box. In the long run the learner who writes
creatively will be able to broaden their thought process and think of the
world in a different and unique way from their peers.

2. Story writing will helps students to learn the basics of writing in English
and grammar. It is undeniable that when we write more, our reading
and vocabulary skills will improve dramatically. While writing, students
will it difficulty to get the right spelling and word selection. However, the
interest will grow as she or she try to finish the story. Eventually, they
will go looking for how to do it better.

3. Increase students' willingness to communicate thoughts and feelings.

By creating and telling a story, student will learn to organize their
thoughts and use written language to communicate with readers in a
variety of ways.

THE DETAILS AND THE PROCESS OF THE PROGRAM.

1. Target. The competition involves students in Level 2 of Year 5 pupils

SKSS.
2. Date and Time Program. On July 11, 2016 (Monday) students are
given instructions one week before the evaluation process. The
evaluation process is to identify students who are qualified to be a

winner. The evaluation will be conducted by us. After the completion of

the evaluation process, the students were successful and will receive
an award which will be held on July 20, 2016 (Wednesday).
3. Competition place. Will be held at classroom and PSV room of SKSS.
4. Method of Testing. Students will be tested in terms of creativity in
creating a story. The judges will look into the vocabulary and word
selection used in the story and also the plot of the story.
5. The Panel of Judges and Judges Competition. A total of 3 three
practical teachers and a judge appointed to oversee the competition as
follows:

6. Expenses. Cost competition as follows:

i. Gifts - RM60.00
7. Prizes and Certificates Competition. Prize competition is intended to
Johan, the runner-up and third place only by year 5.
6.0 Closure
It is hoped that this competition will be carried out smoothly and orderly.
All parties involved are expected to provide the commitment and
cooperation to ensure the success of the competition. Thank you.
