Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu anhu) said:

The Allah's Messenger (SalAllahu alaihi wasallam) said, "Verily, Allah likes three things for
you and disapproves three things for you. He likes that you should worship Him Alone, not to
associate anything with Him (in worship) and to hold fast the Rope of Allah and not to be
divided among yourselves; and He disapproves for you irrelevant talk, persistent questioning
and the squandering of the wealth."

Bitterness is a Killer!...Don't Poison

yourself with it.
By Sister S Bemath
We tend to think that circumstances causes us to become bitter, but this is not always the case.
Bitterness is something that happens to us, it is a characteristic we develop. To swallow a daily dose
of poison would be unthinkable. Yet this is what you do if you awaken each morning with bitter
thoughts that belong to the past. You are poisoning your system.
Bitterness is a killer. But who does it hurt? Only you - for who else suffers that gnawing pain which
twists and turns deep in your being? Certainly not the one who has wronged you!. He or she
probably is not even aware of it. Bitterness depresses the spirits, stifles creativity, weakens the
immune system, obstructs happiness and ruins health. As a carrier you are the only one who reaps
its adverse consequences so why submit to it?
A bitter person always seems to find a good reason to be bitter: After all I did, he or she left me...
My parents all favour my brother - nothing I do will please them... That false rumour ruined my
chances of promotion... and the list goes onValid reasons, maybe. Painful, certainly! even worthy
of some human emotion. But it takes only a little yes just a little time and effort to work through the
pain, hurt, disappointment, sadness or anger. You must process your emotions, regain your balance,
change your attitude or seek counsel.
Wonderful in theory, a bitter person might say. But I can't forget. You can forget; but whether you
choose to is another matter. It takes time and effort to re-pattern negative thoughts into the
conscious habit of replacing them with positive ones. When we harbour negative emotions towards
others or towards ourselves, or when we intentionally create pain for others, we poison our own
physical and spiritual systems. By far the strongest poison to the human spirit is the inability to
forgive oneself or another person. It disables a persons emotional resources. The challenge is to
refine our capacity to love others as well as ourselves and to develop the power of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hate. It is a
power that breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles of selfishness.
ALLAH TAALA knows what's hidden in the deep recesses of our hearts. Those feelings of pain,
anguish, resentment, hatred, bitterness, etc., that we so successfully hide from everyone else,
including our closest family members and friends. So why not let it all out. Why not let ALLAH
TAALA be your "therapist". Let your prayer mat be your "couch" while you reveal and ask the One
who is in control, Who knows you better than you know yourself. From the very depth of ALLAH
TAALA'S fountain of Mercy, bitterness will be cleansed and you shall blossom amongst the flowers
of enjoyment. Subhaan-ALLAH !
Beloved Reader! It is better to live in peace than in bitterness and strife. I've known people to go

through a lot of trials and hardships and maintain a grateful and gracious spirit throughout. I've seen
others face similar trials only to become angry and embittered souls. In both the cases the hardship
revealed the heart more than it formed the heart. If we are filled with sweetness and something
jostles us, then sweetness spills out. If we are filled with bitterness and we get jostled then battery
acid goes everywhere. Overcome the obstacles in your path, be determined, courageous and hardworking. Never be faint-hearted. Be resolute, but never bitter... be beautiful inside and thus you shall
become an embodiment of love, joy and happiness.
HOW TO DEAL WITH BITTERNESS:
Most important is to Turn to Allah by means of Dua (Prayer). Raise your hands in supplication, for,
Du'a is a weapon of a Believer.
Every time you think of a past negative situation, replace it instantly with a picture of a positive,
happy life.
When you feel resentful, bless and forgive the person who wronged you and do not stop praying for
the best for those you love.
Busy yourself with things you enjoy so that you have no time to brood. Plan something to look
forward to. Give to someone who is worse off than yourself. In other words place every negative
thought with a positive one until it becomes a habit.
Never allow bitterness to take root or you'll become a twisted, sour human being people will shun.
Bitter thoughts are like weeds. Pluck them out of your heart relentlesslyand in their place will
sprout the seeds of joyful new life.
O ALLAH TAALA! Reform our character and bless us with cleanliness of the heart. ..Aameen

Advice on What NOT to Do Abu Abdis Salaam Siddiq Al Juyaanee

An old Arab poet has stated, taking his meaning from an authentic hadeeth:
I learned evil not for the sake of evil, but to avoid it
And whoever doesnt know good from evil, he will fall into it.
This is derived from a hadeeth and I mean by it, the hadeeth of Hudhaifah Ibn Al-Yamaan,
radyAllaahu anhumaa, which is reported in the Saheehs of Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim. He,

radyAllaahu anhumaa, said: The people used to ask Allaahs Messenger , about the
good, but I used to ask him about the evil for fear of it reaching me.
[Shaykh al-Albanee - Al-Asaalah, Issue #18]
Some The Characteristics of the Party of Shaitain, the Losers :
Ayah Quoted in Lecture:
1. Enjoining Evil and forbidding Good
The hypocrites, men and women, are from one another, they enjoin (on the people) Al-Munkar (i.e.
disbelief and polytheism of all kinds and all that Islm has forbidden), and forbid (people) from AlMa'rf (i.e. Islmic Monotheism and all that Islm orders one to do), and they close their hands [from
giving (spending in Allh's Cause) alms, etc.]. They have forgotten Allh, so He has forgotten them.
Verily, the hypocrites are the Fsiqn (rebellious, disobedient to Allh). [Surah at-Toubah 9:67]
2. Al-Hasad (envy/jealousy) & Arrogance (kibr)
"Do they envy men for what Allah has given them of His Bounty?" [Soorah an-Nisa (4): 54]
The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) warned against envy by comparing it to fire that completely
burns the wood. He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "Beware of jealousy (envy /hasad), for verily it
destroys good deeds the way fire destroys wood." [Abu Dawood]
"Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn from the evil of envious when he envies." [Soorah alFalaq (113): 1]
It was narrated from Abd-Allaah ibn Masood that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) said: No one who has an atoms-weight of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.
[Abu Dawood]
Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant ones? (Surah az-Zumar 39:60)
3. To be a cause/love for evil and rancour spread on the ranks of the muslims individually or
in society
"Verily, those who like that (the crime of) illegal sexual intercourse should be propagated among
those who believe, they will have a painful torment in this world and in the Hereafter." (An-Noor
24:19)

4. Openly displaying enmity for the believers

Allah said, `Whoever takes a friend of Mine as an enemy, will have started a war with Me". (Saheeh
al-Bukhari and others)
5. Inventing Lies against Allaah
"Say: 'Verily, those who invent a lie against Allah will never be successful' [Yunus 10:69]
"And say not concerning that which your tongues put forth falsely: "This is lawful and this is
forbidden," so as to invent lies against Allh. Verily, those who invent lies against Allh will never
prosper. A passing brief enjoyment (will be theirs), but they will have a painful torment." (Surah anNahl 16:117-118)
6. Turning away from the religion of al-Islam ( by NOT learning it / knowing it / act upon it)
36. And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allh)
(i.e. this Qur'n and worship of Allh), We appoint for him Shaitn (Satan devil) to be a Qarn (an
intimate companion) to him.
37. And verily, they (Satans / devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allh), but they think that they are
guided aright!
38. Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarn (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that
between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of)
companion (indeed)! [ al-Zukruf 43: 36-38]
"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur'n nor acts on its
orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of
Resurrection." (Surah Taaha 20:124)
7. Following the Desires and People of Desires
"Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilh (god), and Allh knowing (him
as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who
then will guide him after Allh? Will you not then remember?" [ Surah al-Jaathiyah 45:23]
8. To argue with falsehood and spreading corruption in the land

"And of mankind there is he whose speech may please you (O Muhammad ), in this worldly life, and
he calls Allh to witness as to that which is in his heart, yet he is the most quarrelsome of the
opponents.
And when he turns away (from you "O Muhammad "), his effort in the land is to make mischief
therein and to destroy the crops and the cattle, and Allh likes not mischief.
And when it is said to him, "Fear Allh", he is led by arrogance to (more) crime. So enough for him is
Hell, and worst indeed is that place to rest!" [Surah al-Baqarah 2:204-206]
9. To make fun of the Religion of Islam and its People
"If you ask them (about this), they declare: "We were only talking idly and joking." Say: "Was it at
Allh ( ), and His Ayt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His
Messenger () that you were mocking?"
Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed. If We pardon some of you, We will
punish others amongst you because they were Mujrimn (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners,
criminals, etc.)." [Surah at-Toubah 9:65-66]
